If you can access a page through your subscription, you can usually try your browser’s print-to-PDF feature. But being allowed to read a page does not by itself establish that you may reproduce or keep a full-page copy. Check the publisher’s terms and any download or print options it provides.
How to save a page you can access as a PDF
Use the publisher’s own download or print feature if it offers one. Otherwise, Chrome’s built-in print flow can save a printable version of a page you have opened normally while signed in. This is a way to make a PDF of accessible content, not a way to get around a paywall or other access control.

- Sign in to the publisher’s site normally and open the page you are entitled to view.
- In Chrome on a computer, choose File > Print, or press Ctrl+P on Windows or Linux, or Command+P on Mac.
- In the print dialog, choose Save as PDF as the destination.
- Inspect the preview and page range, then save the file locally. Chrome also documents a print flow with Save as PDF on Android. See Google Chrome Help: Print from Chrome.
If the publisher provides its own download, print, or reading-list feature, prefer that route: it is the publisher’s offered method. Still check the terms that apply to your account and intended use. An unspecified publisher’s policy cannot be inferred from the fact that its page is printable.

What a PDF does—and does not—preserve
A browser printout is a printable representation of the page, not necessarily a complete archival copy. It may omit interactive elements, dynamically loaded material, or layout details. Check the preview before saving. If content is missing, use a publisher-provided option if available; do not bypass technical access controls or subscription limits.

Does a subscription let you keep a private copy?
There is no universal yes-or-no answer established for every subscriber-only webpage. Access to read a work and permission to reproduce it are separate questions. The Library of Congress cautions that “Just because we’ve put a work online doesn’t mean that you can freely reuse it,” and advises that its copyright guide is general information, not legal advice. See Using Items from the Library’s Website: Understanding Copyright.
For U.S. readers, fair use is assessed in context using four factors: the purpose and character of the use, the nature of the work, the amount and substantiality used, and the effect on the potential market. A personal-reference purpose may be relevant, but it does not establish a blanket right to save every full article. The U.S. Copyright Office’s Fair Use FAQ explains that copyright owners have rights that include preparing or authorizing new versions; it does not decide whether a particular subscriber’s PDF is permitted.

Terms vary by publisher, and the publisher for this question is unspecified. Review the terms for your subscription and the page’s own download or print controls. If you are uncertain about a consequential use, ask the publisher or consult a qualified lawyer. These copyright sources are U.S.-oriented; rules and contract terms can differ by jurisdiction.

Do not treat a personal-reference copy as permission to distribute, post, or send the article to others. The Library of Congress says written permission may be needed for distribution, reproduction, or other use beyond fair use or statutory exemptions. Its guidance about permissions is not a ruling on a particular publisher’s terms. See Rights & Access.

Public web archives are not a dependable workaround for subscriber-only material. The Library of Congress says its web-archiving program does not collect password-protected content without special permission and cannot currently collect content requiring payment or subscription.
