Yes—if all you need is a continuous loop of prerecorded videos on YouTube Live. Gyre moves playback and stream delivery to its cloud, so your computer does not have to run OBS or stay online. It is not established as a full OBS replacement for camera inputs, custom scenes, graphics, or other live production. You must upload the source video files to Gyre; a YouTube video link or playlist alone is not enough.
What “replace OBS” means in this case
OBS is a desktop encoder and production tool. In a prerecorded loop workflow, it can play local files and send the resulting stream to YouTube. Gyre takes over that stream-source role differently: upload files to Gyre, arrange them in a playlist, connect YouTube, and launch the broadcast. Gyre says playback runs on its cloud servers and the playlist loops when it ends.

YouTube’s encoder help page lists Gyre as a cloud service for continuous prerecorded streams: Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder. That supports a specific substitution, not broad feature parity. If you use OBS to mix a camera, switch scenes, add live graphics, or manage other local inputs, the available sources do not establish that Gyre can replace those parts of your setup.

| Decision point | Gyre | OBS |
|---|---|---|
| Best fit in this comparison | Continuous streaming of uploaded prerecorded files. | Desktop-based streaming and production; the exact setup depends on your sources and scenes. |
| Where the stream runs | Gyre’s cloud, so your PC and home connection do not carry the outgoing broadcast. | On the computer running OBS, which must remain available with a working internet connection for a continuous stream. |
| Source material | Video files uploaded to Gyre Storage, including files that were previously uploaded to YouTube. | Local media and other sources configured in OBS. |
| YouTube connection | Channel authorization can automate broadcast creation, stream-key binding, and metadata; manual stream-key setup is also supported. | Uses YouTube’s encoder workflow and the stream configuration you set up in OBS. |
| Cost evidence | Gyre’s pricing page displays a seven-day trial and paid subscriptions starting at $49 per month; plan limits differ. | A current OBS price is not established by the available sources. |
What to check before switching to Gyre
Confirm your channel is eligible
Gyre’s API guide says its described YouTube authorization workflow requires a verified channel, live streaming enabled, and no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. Check your current channel status and YouTube’s current requirements before relying on API authorization. Gyre also supports manual setup using a YouTube stream key and RTMP address.

Upload the actual video files
Gyre’s Help Center says source files must be uploaded to Gyre Storage, even if those videos are already published on your YouTube channel. A channel URL or YouTube playlist is not a substitute for the files in the workflow described there. The service’s guide recommends checking and converting files for streaming, but its specific encoding recommendations may not reflect current YouTube guidance. Use current YouTube encoder requirements when preparing a file rather than treating older vendor settings as authoritative: Recommended encoder settings for live streams.
Review trial limits and paid capacity
Gyre’s pricing page, accessed in 2026, displays a seven-day trial with one HD stream, 20 GB of storage for up to 15 files, and a Gyre watermark. It displays paid plans starting at $49 per month. A Gyre product update published in September 2026 describes paid plans ranging from $49 to $169 per month and says concurrent stream counts vary by plan. These are vendor-published terms, not independent performance findings; check the live pricing page for current limits before subscribing.

Set expectations about monetization and content
Gyre says streams created through third-party tools may not automatically use your monetization defaults unless the corresponding YouTube Studio setting is enabled. Check YouTube Studio’s third-party stream monetization defaults if you expect them to apply. This setting does not guarantee earnings.
Use videos you have the rights to stream and follow YouTube’s current copyright, live-streaming, and monetization policies. The available sources do not establish that every reused video or continuous stream is permitted, monetizable, or likely to be recommended. When keeping OBS makes more sense
- You need camera footage, live inputs, scene switching, or custom graphics as part of the broadcast.
- You depend on local control over playback or production and are prepared to keep the computer and internet connection running.
- Your current workflow includes OBS functions beyond sending a prerecorded loop, and you have not verified that Gyre supports those needs.
For a fixed prerecorded playlist, Gyre can remove the need to operate a local encoder continuously. For a production that changes live, replacing OBS wholesale is not supported by the feature information available here.
