Yes—but the documented shopping flow is for Grok Bot, not every Grok chat. When the Bot proposes a purchase, it shows the amount and lets you Allow or Deny. Link completes payment; a September 2026 changelog entry also says you can choose a saved card from your Link wallet after approval. The documented flow requires your approval, rather than silently charging you.
How Grok Bot purchases work
The documented flow works through a purchase card shown by Grok Bot. It displays the amount and gives you an Allow or Deny choice; Link then completes the payment. A September 1, 2026 changelog entry says that after you approve, “Pay with” lets you choose a saved card from your Link wallet. The changelog does not establish which merchants, regions, or accounts are eligible, or a universal transaction ceiling. Check the current in-product experience and Grok Bot documentation for availability.

Grok Bot’s security guidance says an approval authorizes the proposed action but does not undo work already completed. Before allowing an action, check its target, scope, and values. “Allow once” approves that action; “Always allow” can save a matching rule; “Deny” blocks it. For a purchase, inspect the amount and what is being bought before you approve.

What you enter yourself during checkout
Grok Bot’s security guide says sensitive steps should stay under your control. When a page requests a password, passkey, two-factor code, CAPTCHA, or payment confirmation, the Bot should hand you control of the computer so you can complete that step directly. Do not put passwords or one-time codes into ordinary chat.
For ordinary checkout details such as an address or phone number, the Bot can ask through a chat form, one step at a time, then enter your answer into the page. Share only what is needed. SpaceXSI’s privacy policy advises against putting personal information in prompts and inputs, and says personal information submitted there may be reproduced in generated output. That statement does not establish that checkout details entered through a form are handled exactly like ordinary prompt text.

Shopping purchases, subscriptions, and usage credits are different
Grok Bot buying something from a merchant is not the same transaction as paying for a Grok subscription or purchasing extra Grok usage. The published details differ:

What happens when you reach a Grok usage limit?
The consumer FAQ describes a shared weekly allowance for paid Grok usage, separate from a shopping-purchase limit. You can see usage and reset timing under Settings → Usage. When the included allowance is exhausted, paid features pause until reset; separate free Chat and Voice limits remain. The FAQ lists extra credits, upgrading, and Auto Top Up as options.

As of the FAQ accessed October 11, 2026, Extra Usage Credits are web-only and can be purchased for as little as $5 from the Usage tab on web. They are used after included weekly usage runs out and expire one year after purchase unless otherwise stated. The FAQ says their per-action cost is higher than the effective rate of included plan usage. These are changeable product terms, not a guaranteed permanent price or allowance.
What is known about privacy and payment data?
The SpaceXSI Privacy Policy effective August 24, 2026 applies to Grok.com and Grok mobile apps. It says third-party services are governed by their own policies; Grok on X is governed by X’s privacy policy and terms. People in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland are directed to a Europe privacy addendum.

For subscription access to Grok, SpaceXSI says a third party such as Apple App Store, Google Play Store, or Stripe may process payment-card details and transaction data. That statement does not show that those same processors handle every Link purchase, nor does it specify all information a merchant receives. For a Bot-assisted purchase, review Link’s and the merchant’s own privacy notices for the specific checkout.
If you sign in with X credentials, consumer terms say information such as your X profile, account and location information, preferences, viewable post history, usage data, and Grok-on-X conversation history may be brought into your SpaceXSI account, subject to disclosures. An account linked to an employer domain may be associated with an organization subscription, where an administrator may access, monitor, or control the account under enterprise terms.

Is a security key required?
No. Grok Bot documentation describes an optional browser sign-in feature using a hardware security key, with approval required for each use; Linux is not yet supported. This is a sign-in option, not a payment method or purchase requirement. It does not secure or guarantee a purchase.
