Not according to the deployment documentation cited here. Deepgram describes self-hosted voice AI for customer infrastructure and a fully air-gapped deployment on Amazon SageMaker, but it does not document a supported product that runs inference directly on an air-gapped laptop. A local audio file is not proof of local processing: Deepgram’s prerecorded-audio example sends the file to its API.
What “air-gapped” means for Deepgram
An air-gapped laptop would need to perform speech recognition locally, without sending audio or transcripts to a remote service. Deepgram’s materials establish a different set of options: hosted API access, self-hosting on customer infrastructure, and an AWS SageMaker deployment that Deepgram describes as fully air-gapped. None of those sources specifies a laptop-ready offline inference installation.

Deepgram says its self-hosted offerings can run on cloud infrastructure or bare metal, and identifies Docker, Podman, and Kubernetes deployment paths. Its product page also describes deployments on customer infrastructure and directs prospects to request access. These are infrastructure deployment options, not evidence that the software can be installed and run on an isolated personal computer. | Path | Where processing happens | What is established | Air-gapped laptop fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hosted Deepgram API | Deepgram-hosted service | A local audio file can be submitted using an API key. | Not local offline inference; using the API requires communicating with Deepgram. |
| Docker/Podman or Kubernetes self-hosting | Customer infrastructure | Deepgram documents these deployment types; its guide says they require an Enterprise Plan. | May suit an organizational environment, but the documentation does not describe installing it on a laptop. |
| Amazon SageMaker | A managed AWS endpoint | Deepgram describes an AWS Marketplace deployment whose container is network-isolated and makes no connection to Deepgram Cloud. | An air-gapped deployment claim for SageMaker, not a laptop installation. |
| SDK or CLI | Developer tooling for Deepgram products and APIs | The tools provide a way to use Deepgram services; the SDK repository describes connections to Deepgram-hosted endpoints. | Tooling does not establish that model weights or inference run locally. |

Why a local recording can still be transcribed in the cloud
“Local file” describes where the audio file is stored before processing. It does not say where recognition occurs. Deepgram’s prerecorded-audio example reads a file from the computer and submits it to the API with a Deepgram API key. The request therefore depends on reaching Deepgram’s service; it is not evidence of offline inference. See Deepgram’s prerecorded-audio guide.
What Deepgram says about its air-gapped SageMaker option
Deepgram’s self-hosted guide states: “A SageMaker deployment also runs fully airgapped: the container is network-isolated and makes no connection to the Deepgram Cloud.” The guide describes a SageMaker package combining the API, Engine, and licensing into a managed endpoint. It requires an AWS account and the relevant SageMaker and AWS Marketplace permissions. This is useful evidence for a network-isolated AWS deployment, but it does not change the deployment location into a laptop.

- All-Day Battery Life – Go longer than ever with up to 18 hours of battery life.
- Powerful Performance – Take on everything from professional-quality editing to action-packed gaming with ease. The Apple M1 chip with an 8-core CPU delivers up to 3.5x faster performance than the previous generation while using way less power.
- Superfast Memory – 8GB of unified memory makes your entire system speedy and responsive. That way it can support tasks like memory-hogging multitab browsing and opening a huge graphic file quickly and easily.
- Stunning Display – With a 13.3 inch Retina display, images come alive with new levels of realism. Text is sharp and clear, and colors are more vibrant.
- Why Mac – Easy to learn. Easy to set up. Astoundingly powerful. Intuitive. Packed with apps to use right out of the box. Mac is designed to let you work, play, and create like never before.
The guide describes licensing behavior differently for container self-hosting: components contact Deepgram’s license server to validate components and models and report usage information. Do not assume that every self-hosted architecture has the same connectivity or licensing behavior as the SageMaker setup; confirm the details for the intended architecture and contract. Docker, Podman, or Kubernetes
Deepgram’s guide says these self-hosted paths require an Enterprise Plan. The materials establish deployments on customer infrastructure, but do not supply laptop hardware requirements or claim that a laptop is a supported target.

Amazon SageMaker
The documented requirements include an AWS account and the applicable SageMaker and AWS Marketplace permissions. Deepgram describes the deployment as a managed endpoint. Organizations evaluating it should confirm current listing, licensing, implementation, and support requirements with Deepgram and AWS.
Hardware sizing
The cited materials do not give laptop CPU, GPU, memory, or storage requirements for offline inference. They direct customers to an account representative for compute planning, so a specific laptop or graphics card recommendation would be speculative. Deepgram self-hosted guide.

- One sticker included: Each purchase contains one sticker in the selected design and size. Personalize a laptop, notebook, water bottle, toolbox or other suitable smooth surface.
Questions to resolve before choosing an enclave deployment
- Where does inference run? Verify whether it is on a laptop, customer-managed server, or SageMaker endpoint.
- Does audio or transcript data leave the boundary? Check the full data flow, not just where the source recording is stored.
- What connectivity does licensing require? Establish whether validation or usage reporting contacts an external service for the exact deployment.
- Who operates and secures the system? Identify responsibilities for infrastructure, access controls, updates, and monitoring.
- What do the contract and support terms cover? Confirm plan eligibility and operational support for the chosen architecture.
- What compute is needed? Obtain sizing guidance for the workload and deployment target rather than extrapolating laptop specifications.
Deepgram’s government page also describes deployments in GovCloud, on-premises, or fully air-gapped. That supports an organizational deployment claim; it does not establish a laptop product. Deepgram government solutions.
