Not reliably on the evidence available. An iPhone can alert you to an unknown Bluetooth tracker if it supports Apple and Google’s unwanted-tracking standard, but the official documentation cited here does not confirm that Galaxy SmartTags support that standard. Samsung documents a separate unknown-tag feature in SmartThings Find; its support page does not establish that feature for iPhone.
What an iPhone’s unwanted-tracker alert does—and doesn’t—mean
Apple’s alerts are not universal Bluetooth-tracker detection. They apply to compatible devices that follow the Detecting Unwanted Location Trackers industry specification. Apple says alerts for compatible unknown Bluetooth trackers are available on iPhone with iOS 17.5 or later. Apple’s current instructions describe the requirement and the settings needed for alerts.

An alert may appear when a compatible tracker is separated from its owner and is seen moving with you over time. If an alert appears, you can tap it, play a sound, and, where supported, use Find Nearby. Find My may also show a map of detections. These tools can help you locate a detected tracker, but no alert does not prove that no tracker is present. Apple explains the alert and response options here.

Samsung describes Galaxy SmartTags and SmartTag+ as devices used with SmartThings, and documents an Unknown Tag Detection (Experimental Labs Integration) feature in SmartThings Find. That feature can alert when an unknown tag is detected moving with your device. Samsung’s documentation describes a SmartThings feature; it does not say that it runs on iPhone or that Galaxy SmartTags meet Apple and Google’s separate unwanted-tracking specification. Samsung’s SmartTag support page covers locating tags through SmartThings, while SmartThings Support describes Unknown Tag Detection.
#1 Best Overall
- Find your things with ease: The SmartThings Find app uses Bluetooth and ultra-wideband (UWB) technology to locate and keep track of your stuff
- Water and Dust Resistant: IP67 rating offers protection against dust and water immersion between 15 cm and 1 meter for up to 30 minutes
- Compatible with Galaxy Devices Only
Samsung’s SmartTag3 announcement uses “cross-OS support” language, but does not specify that this means iPhone unwanted-tracking notifications. Cross-OS support by itself is not proof that a tag will trigger Apple’s safety alert. The announcement does not establish that compatibility. The cited official sources therefore do not settle whether a particular Galaxy SmartTag model will trigger an iPhone alert.

What to do if an alert appears
- Tap the notification and continue through the on-screen instructions.
- Choose Play Sound to help locate the tracker. Use Find Nearby if that option is available for the detected device.
- If sound or precision finding is unavailable, check your belongings and vehicle; the tracker may no longer be nearby.
- If you feel at risk, go to a safe public place and contact local law enforcement.
These response steps follow Apple’s guidance for unwanted-tracker alerts.
