AI can make a premium speaker adapt its sound to a room, but that alone does not make premium audio affordable or mainstream. Available reporting documents Devialet’s room-adaptive Mania feature and a broader AI ambition voiced by CEO Jacques Demont—not the attributed Henri Hervé interview or evidence that AI has lowered prices.
What Devialet’s AI does in the Mania
A March 17, 2025 report by The National describes the portable Devialet Mania as using AI-powered 360-degree sound optimization to adjust output according to room acoustics. CEO Jacques Demont’s example is a nearby wall: the system analyzes its effect and adjusts the sound. This is a reported product feature, not an independent test establishing how much sound quality improves in different rooms.

Room adaptation addresses how a speaker behaves in its surroundings. It does not, by itself, show that the speaker costs less, that comparable performance is available at a lower price, or that more people can afford premium audio.
What Devialet has said about AI—and who said it
In the same interview, Demont said: “AI will be in every product in the future of this company because it will bring more technology, and we need to be at this level.” That is the CEO’s statement of intent, not a statement by Henri Hervé and not confirmation that AI has since been implemented in every Devialet product.

The exact Henri Hervé interview or statement behind the supplied headline could not be verified in the available reporting. The defensible account is therefore narrower: Devialet has described AI-based room adaptation in the Mania, and its CEO has expressed an ambition to use AI more broadly.
Do the available prices show AI making premium sound mainstream?
No. The dated prices available concern different products, markets and years; they do not establish that AI reduced the cost of premium audio.

Neither report compares AI and non-AI versions of the same speaker or measures how AI changes production costs, retail prices or adoption. The figures cannot support a causal claim about AI making premium audio mainstream.

Devialet’s range has included speakers, amplifiers, wireless earbuds and a soundbar, and a 2022 Tech.eu interview says the company licenses some patented technology to other firms. That shows a broader product and licensing context, but does not establish a specific active partner program or demonstrate that licensing has made premium sound more accessible.

The reporting supports a concrete example of AI-driven room adaptation and a stated company ambition. It does not provide an owner-attributed measure of AI’s effect on affordability or adoption, or an independent test of the Mania’s room-adaptation benefit. Whether these technologies will help bring premium sound to a wider audience remains an open question, not a demonstrated result.
