No verified, supported method lets a modded PS5 play Xbox 360 games. Jailbreak and Linux experiments do not establish that the Xenia Xbox 360 emulator runs on PS5 hardware. If you want a supported option, check whether your specific game is on Microsoft’s backward-compatibility list for Xbox One and Xbox Series consoles.
What a modded PS5 does—and does not—add
Sony documents PS5 backward compatibility for the overwhelming majority of PS4 games, not Xbox 360 games. Its support page says that the PS5 is backward compatible with the “overwhelming majority” of PS4 games; this does not indicate support for games from other consoles. PlayStation’s PS5 backward-compatibility guidance also notes that more than 4,000 PS4 games are playable on PS5. That figure concerns PS4 titles only.

Modifying a console may enable unofficial experiments, but it does not add an official Xbox 360 compatibility feature. The available sources do not verify a working PS5 setup that runs Xenia and plays Xbox 360 games. Treat claims that it can be done as unverified, not as a usable compatibility option.

Why Xenia on Linux does not prove it works on PS5
Xenia is a PC emulator project
Xenia describes itself as an Xbox 360 emulator research project for modern PCs. Its documentation discusses Linux, but Linux support in general does not establish that Xenia runs on a PS5. A PS5 setup would also need to work with that console’s hardware, firmware, and graphics stack, and compatibility would still depend on the individual game. The sources do not verify those requirements or a playable Xbox 360 title on PS5.

PS3 emulation is a different case
Reports of PlayStation 3 games running through RPCS3 on Linux-enabled PS5 hardware concern a different emulator and a different console generation. RPCS3 is not Xenia, and those reports are not evidence that Xbox 360 games run on a PS5. The reported PS5 Linux and RPCS3 example should not be treated as an Xbox 360 compatibility demonstration.
PS5 experiments have model and firmware constraints
Jailbreak and Linux methods are unofficial and may be limited to particular console models or firmware versions. Those conditions can change as developments evolve; there is no basis for assuming that every PS5 can use the same setup. Recent reporting on PS5 jailbreak and Linux developments illustrates why model and firmware details matter.

- The Largest Collection of Classic SEGA Titles. Players will trip back in time with favorites including Sonic the Hedgehog, Streets of Rage, Columns, Eco the Dolphin and four titles from the Phantasy Star series, to name a few.
- Several Unlockable Titles. Included in the collection are arcade favorites such as Congo Bongo, Altered Beast, Zaxxon and more.
- All Titles Upgraded to Hi-Def. The classic 2D style never looked so good! Each title has been converted to hi-def (720p) and will be a blast to play using the intuitive controls of the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 systems.
- Massive Multiplayer Options. Friends can play the 2-Player classics together in select games from the same console at home.
Because no working Xenia-on-PS5 setup is established here, there is no reliable compatibility percentage, performance expectation, installation procedure, or assurance about online access or safety to give. A jailbreak or Linux demonstration alone cannot answer whether a particular Xbox 360 game will run.

Supported ways to play selected Xbox 360 games
Check Xbox backward compatibility
Microsoft supports selected Xbox 360 and original Xbox games on Xbox One and Xbox Series consoles. The selection is limited, so check the exact title on Microsoft’s current backward-compatible games list before choosing a console or buying a game. Microsoft describes the Xbox One feature as allowing players to play select Xbox 360 and original Xbox games they already own; disc and digital terms can depend on the title and console, so consult the current listing.
