Yes. You can use a Google Workspace email account with a YouTube channel that livestreams. For a regular YouTube broadcast, eligibility depends on the channel—not on whether its email address is a personal Gmail address or a Workspace address. Streaming a Google Meet meeting directly to YouTube is a separate feature with Workspace-plan, administrator, channel-linking and meeting-role requirements.
Choose the right livestreaming route
First decide where viewers should watch. Starting a broadcast through YouTube sends it to a YouTube channel. Streaming from Meet to YouTube sends a meeting to a linked channel. A Meet internal livestream is a separate option for eligible people in an organization or trusted Workspace domains; it is not a YouTube broadcast.

| Route | Where viewers watch | Main requirements |
|---|---|---|
| Start a stream in YouTube | The selected YouTube channel | Verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days; YouTube says creators must be at least 16 to livestream. YouTube Help |
| Stream a Meet meeting to YouTube | A linked YouTube channel | Eligible Workspace edition or subscription, administrator enablement where applicable, an approved channel linked to the meeting, and an operator with the required channel and meeting permissions. Google Meet Help |
| Livestream within Meet | People in the organization and, if configured, trusted Workspace domains | Supported edition, applicable license and administrator settings; participants in the organization control the stream, while view-only guests can watch. Google Workspace Admin Help |
Start a broadcast from YouTube
A Workspace address does not itself block a YouTube livestream. Use the YouTube channel’s live controls, and check the channel’s eligibility before planning the broadcast:
- The channel must be verified.
- It must have no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days.
- The creator livestreaming must be at least 16 years old, according to YouTube Help.
YouTube lists mobile, webcam and encoder methods for going live. A webcam or encoder can be useful for production, but buying one does not change channel eligibility. See YouTube’s guide to choosing a way to stream.

Check plan and administrator availability
Google documents Meet-to-YouTube streaming for Enterprise Starter, Enterprise Standard, Enterprise Plus, Education Plus, Teaching and Learning Upgrade, Workspace Individual subscribers, and Google One subscribers with at least 2 TB of storage. For company Workspace accounts, an administrator must enable the feature. Plan availability and administrator controls can change, so confirm the current setting with your administrator or plan details before scheduling the event. Google Meet Help
Approve and connect the YouTube channel
The YouTube channel must be approved for livestreaming and connected to the meeting. Google says channel approval can take up to 24 hours. Allow time for this before the event rather than relying on approval immediately before a meeting.

Start the stream from a computer
- Join the Google Meet meeting using the same email address used for the YouTube channel.
- On a computer, open Meeting tools.
- Select Live streaming, then Stream with YouTube.
- Select the channel, then create or select the YouTube event.
Google says mobile devices cannot start this Meet-to-YouTube stream. The person starting it must be able to use the linked YouTube channel.
Check who is allowed to start it
The meeting’s host-management setting affects who can start the stream. With host management off, anyone in the host’s organization may start it. With host management on, only hosts and co-hosts may do so. Google recommends making the intended operator a co-host when needed. Check the setting and assign the role before the event. Keep an internal Meet livestream separate
If the audience should watch inside Meet rather than on YouTube, use Meet’s internal livestream feature instead. Google lists supported editions including Business Continuity, Business Continuity Plus, Enterprise Essentials Plus, Enterprise Starter, Enterprise Standard, Enterprise Plus, Education Plus and Teaching and Learning Upgrade; education licenses may have additional conditions. Only participants in the organization can control the stream, while view-only guests can watch. Edition and administrator configuration apply separately from Meet-to-YouTube. Google Workspace Admin Help
Pre-event checklist
- Choose the destination: a YouTube channel, Meet-to-YouTube, or an internal Meet audience.
- For a direct YouTube broadcast, verify the channel and check for restrictions in the previous 90 days.
- For Meet-to-YouTube, confirm the edition, administrator setting, channel approval and channel connection.
- Make sure the operator can access the linked YouTube channel and has the required host or co-host role for the meeting’s host-management setting.
- Choose a YouTube streaming method appropriate to the production: mobile, webcam or encoder. Hardware and production choices do not replace eligibility or account permissions.
Common problems and fixes
- YouTube does not offer the live option: Check that the channel is verified and has no live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days. A Workspace email address does not bypass channel restrictions.
- Meet has no “Stream with YouTube” option: Confirm that the account’s plan supports it and ask the Workspace administrator whether the feature is enabled. Also confirm that you are using Meet on a computer.
- The channel is unavailable or not approved: Ensure the channel is approved for livestreaming and connected to the meeting. Google says approval can take up to 24 hours.
- The intended operator cannot start the meeting stream: Confirm they can use the linked channel. If host management is on, make them a host or co-host; with it off, Google says anyone in the host’s organization may start the stream.
- Viewers are looking in the wrong place: An internal Meet livestream is not a YouTube broadcast. Confirm the intended audience and destination before sharing instructions.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is a continuous YouTube stream from uploaded videos rather than a live Meet meeting, StreamNeo is a separate cloud option: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Your computer and home connection do not need to stay on; uploaded video streams at its original quality up to 4K 60fps for one flat price per slot, with automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly: $9.99 per month. This is for uploaded videos and YouTube, not a live camera or Meet-to-YouTube meeting. Start your free day with StreamNeo.
