Yes. A Bluetooth G-SHOCK can generally be used as a watch without a smartphone. Bluetooth adds phone-linked features; it does not mean the watch needs a phone for every function. Which features work on their own—and which require a phone and app—depends on the watch’s module.
What works without a phone?
Use the watch’s module-specific operation guide to check its ordinary watch functions and any setup requirements. The Bluetooth connection is relevant to Mobile Link features, not a universal prerequisite for using the watch. Casio cautions that “Settable functions vary depending on the model” in its Bluetooth Link overview.

That means there is no single offline feature list for all Bluetooth G-SHOCKs. Do not assume a particular alarm, sensor, timekeeping method, or accuracy specification based only on Bluetooth branding; check the guide for the exact module.
Which features need a smartphone?
Features that connect the watch to a phone or companion app are unavailable while the phone is absent, Bluetooth is off, or the required app is not running. Casio lists automatic time adjustment, Phone Finder, and connection-loss warning as examples of Bluetooth features, but availability varies by model.
#1 Best Overall
- Metal-clad daring meets sophisticated gleam in this Casio G-Shock that delivers Smartphone Link via Bluetooth(R) and Tough Solar charging system, all in a meticulously finished metal design with iconic octagonal bezel
- This model features a blue metallic vapor deposition dial that is complemented by a black band made of environmentally responsible bio-based resin
Automatic time adjustment
For module 3506, Casio’s guide says the watch’s time setting is corrected automatically while it is connected to a phone, and that Mobile Link is available only while CASIO WATCHES is running on the phone. This is a module-specific description, not a guarantee for every Bluetooth G-SHOCK. The same applies to Casio Europe’s statement that the products covered by its Bluetooth overview connect automatically four times a day; that schedule should not be generalized to other models.
Phone Finder and connection warnings
Casio lists Phone Finder and connection-loss warning among possible Bluetooth Link functions. Whether your watch supports them, and how they behave, depends on its module and settings. They are phone-linked conveniences, not evidence that the watch itself stops working when disconnected.

- The app also makes it possible to maintain step count logs with five exercise intensity levels, to calculate the calories you burn, to specify a daily step target, and more
- This timepiece links with the G-Shock Connected phone app to provide access to a number of functions that enhance workouts
Training records and app features
Module 3475 documents training records and training plans through G-SHOCK MOVE, with the phone-linked function available only while the app is running. These functions are specific to that module and app rather than standard capabilities of every Bluetooth G-SHOCK.
Which app does your G-SHOCK use?
There is no one companion app for every Bluetooth model. Casio’s guides identify different apps for different modules:

How to check a specific watch before buying
- Find the module number. Check the watch’s case or product information for its module number; the model name alone may not identify every connected function.
- Open that module’s Casio operation guide. Look for the sections on Bluetooth, Mobile Link, and phone pairing to distinguish standalone functions from connected ones.
- Confirm the required app and setup. Check which app the guide names, whether phone Bluetooth and pairing are required, and whether the app needs to be running for the feature you care about.
- Verify current phone and app support. If a purchase depends on a connected feature, check its availability and compatibility for your phone and region at the time you buy.
Casio’s guides show why the module matters: module 5554 names G-SHOCK Connected, modules 3506 and 3486 name CASIO WATCHES, and module 3475 names G-SHOCK MOVE. The exact guide is the best basis for deciding what the watch can do without the phone and what requires an active connection.
