Choose a G-SHOCK by comparing the exact model’s connectivity, power source, stated water-resistance rating, and full case dimensions—not by assuming every watch in a series has the same features. Bluetooth and solar are useful conveniences for some buyers, while size and thickness can matter more if fit is your priority.
Start with the exact model number
G-SHOCK features vary within a family. For example, Casio lists Bluetooth smartphone link and Tough Solar for the GA-B2100-1A1, while Casio’s 2100-series lineup chart includes options in the family without those features. Check the complete model number and the specification for the regional variant you plan to buy.

Decide whether Bluetooth is useful to you
Bluetooth can connect a watch to a smartphone for automatic time adjustment and other functions. Casio lists automatic adjustment, world time, reminders, and a phone finder for the GA-B2100-1A1. Those functions can be convenient if you want phone-assisted settings; Bluetooth is not essential if you prefer a watch without connected features.

Choose a power source that suits your routine
Casio describes Tough Solar this way: “Using solar technology, solar cells provide the watch with environmentally friendly energy, while excess solar energy is stored in a rechargeable battery.” That description is on G-SHOCK/CASIO’s technology page. Look up the exact variant to confirm whether it has Tough Solar; the name of a series alone does not establish its power source.
#1 Best Overall
- Metal-clad daring meets sophisticated gleam in this Casio G-Shock that delivers Smartphone Link via Bluetooth(R) and Tough Solar charging system, all in a meticulously finished metal design with iconic octagonal bezel
- This model features a blue metallic vapor deposition dial that is complemented by a black band made of environmentally responsible bio-based resin
Check the published water-resistance rating
Use the rating published for the specific model rather than treating it as uniform across G-SHOCK watches. Casio lists 20-bar/200-meter water resistance for both the GA-B2100-1A1 and GW-BX5600-1A1. These specifications alone do not establish an activity-specific guarantee or dive certification. If you need a watch for a particular water activity, consult Casio’s guidance for that activity and the exact model.
Compare size and weight for wrist fit
Case width is only one part of fit. Compare length, width, thickness, and weight, and try the watch on if possible: measurements help screen options, but do not predict how a watch will feel on every wrist.
Rank #2
- Upgrade the retro look you love with the octagonal Casio G-Shock GA-2100 line, which inherits the design concept of the very first G-Shock, but now with Smartphone Link and Tough Solar power
- Bold in design, this model features a black carbon fiber-reinforced interior case and matching black resin band
| Model | Published features | Dimensions and weight |
|---|---|---|
| GA-B2100-1A1 | Bluetooth smartphone link, Tough Solar, 20-bar water resistance | 48.5 × 45.4 × 11.9 mm; 52 g |
| GW-BX5600-1A1 | Bluetooth, Tough Solar, radio-wave calibration, 20-bar water resistance | 49.1 × 44.1 × 13.4 mm; 51 g |
| GMA-S2100 series option listed in Casio India’s lineup chart | 200-meter water resistance; the chart’s basic grouping lists no Bluetooth or solar | 46.2 × 42.9 × 11.2 mm; 41 g |
The GMA-S2100 figures and feature grouping come from Casio India’s regional 2100-series chart. Confirm local model naming and availability before buying. The GA-B2100 and GW-BX5600 figures are from their official international product pages.

The examples illustrate different combinations rather than a single best choice. The analog-digital GA-B2100-1A1 pairs Bluetooth with Tough Solar. The square digital GW-BX5600-1A1 combines Bluetooth, Tough Solar, and radio-wave time calibration. A smaller GMA-S2100 option may suit buyers looking for a more compact 2100-series case, but the cited regional chart’s basic grouping does not include Bluetooth or solar. Compare the exact model’s display style, timekeeping functions, power source, and dimensions before deciding.
