If your CameraFi Live YouTube stream shows a prerecorded video but has no sound, first check the clip under Video and the intended soundtrack under the separate Audio menu. A visible video source does not by itself confirm that its audio is active in the stream. If the clip’s sound does not come through, try adding an authorized audio file separately and test before going live.
Check CameraFi Live’s video and audio sources
- Open Video and confirm that the prerecorded clip is added and active. CameraFi Live’s Android guide treats video files as video sources: CameraFi Live Android guide.
- Open Audio and confirm that the audio source you intend to use is enabled and its level is turned up. CameraFi lists recording files as audio sources in its guide.
- Play the clip and check whether its audio is audible in the local preview or monitoring available in your version. If it is not audible locally, check the source and file before troubleshooting YouTube.
- Make a short private or unlisted test broadcast and check the resulting stream. This helps distinguish a local playback issue from a stream-output issue.
CameraFi’s FAQ also says a prerecorded video can be added as an overlay: CameraFi Live FAQ. Menu names and behavior can vary by app version, so the exact controls may differ from the published Android guide.

Identify how the clip reaches CameraFi
Clip added as a CameraFi video source
When the clip is selected inside CameraFi’s Video sources, check Audio separately rather than assuming the video source’s soundtrack is reaching the broadcast. If the video is visible but its soundtrack is missing, one practical workaround is to add an authorized copy of the soundtrack as a separate audio file.
Clip playing in another app and captured from the screen
This is a different audio route from importing a clip into CameraFi. CameraFi’s Android support guidance says internal audio capture requires Android 10 or later and works only with apps that permit third-party audio recording: CameraFi internal audio recording guidance. If the playback app blocks capture, CameraFi cannot obtain its internal sound through that method.

CameraFi’s FAQ describes a game voice-chat case in which the game takes control of audio and CameraFi receives no sound. That example is specific to in-game voice chat, but it is a reason to check for another app or audio route taking control; it does not establish that all imported video clips have this problem.
Add the soundtrack as a separate audio source
If the video remains visible but its embedded audio does not reach the stream, use a separate audio file if you have one you are authorized to broadcast. CameraFi documents adding audio files such as MP3 and mixing them with microphone input: CameraFi Live Android guide.

- Prepare a rights-cleared audio file corresponding to the clip’s soundtrack.
- Add the clip in CameraFi’s Video sources and add the soundtrack file through Audio.
- Check that the audio file is active and adjust its level; disable or lower the microphone if it is not needed.
- Test with a private or unlisted YouTube broadcast and confirm both picture and sound in the resulting stream.
This is a workaround, not a guarantee for every file format, device or CameraFi version. Use only content you own or have permission to stream; CameraFi’s FAQ warns that using someone else’s content can cause copyright problems.
If you are broadcasting an iPhone screen
For an iOS screen broadcast, check CameraFi’s in-app audio controls. Its May 2026 guide says the microphone can be enabled from iOS Control Center after broadcasting starts: CameraFi iOS screen broadcast guide. These instructions apply to screen broadcasts; they do not establish how every imported video file routes audio on iOS.

Use Audio Sync only when sound is present but mistimed
If you can hear the soundtrack but it arrives before or after the picture, CameraFi’s Audio Sync setting can adjust timing for supported destinations, including YouTube: CameraFi Audio Sync guidance. It cannot restore a missing or inactive audio source. CameraFi also warns that using sync with YouTube may affect the saved recording.
