ByPeople is a broad directory of downloadable design and development resources, so the right alternative depends on whether you need a general resource hub or a specialized library for one asset type, such as icons. Product Hunt’s alternatives listing for ByPeople names Streamline, Icons8, IconScout, and The Noun Project, among others. These services overlap with ByPeople only in part, and the listing is a discovery list rather than a ranking. The sections below explain what ByPeople covers, what each named alternative is described as offering, and what to verify before you choose.
What ByPeople offers
ByPeople presents itself as a curated network of ready-to-download resources and lifetime deals aimed at developers, designers, and startups. Its collections are organized into categories such as UI design template kits, social media templates, wireframes, mockups, vector illustrations, and graphic design tools. Its explanatory page describes the site as a content network that combines curated freebies, tool reviews, code snippets, and other useful resources.

That mix matters for comparison. ByPeople is closer to a curated directory that spans several kinds of resources than to a single-purpose asset library. Product Hunt categorizes it under graphic design tools, design resources, and icon sets, and its profile lists a 2015 launch. That launch date comes from Product Hunt’s profile metadata; it has not been independently checked against company records.

| Service | What the listing describes | When it may fit better than ByPeople |
|---|---|---|
| Streamline | A large icon pack or icon system | You need a substantial, consistent icon set rather than a mixed resource collection |
| Icons8 | Icons, illustrations, photos, music, and design tools | You want several asset categories from one provider |
| IconScout | 3D illustrations, Lottie animations, vector icons, and illustrations | Your project mixes illustration with motion or 3D assets |
| The Noun Project | Icons associated with public-domain and Creative Commons licensing | You are building icon-based work and need to check license terms asset by asset |
| Iconbuddy, UI HUT, Flat Icons, Get illustrations | Listed as further options, with no detail in the listing | Not stated. Inclusion on the list does not confirm that each service is current or a close substitute |
Product Hunt’s ordering reflects how the listing is arranged, not a measure of quality. Likewise, the presence of a service on the list does not mean it has feature parity with ByPeople.
How to compare them
Three questions separate these services more usefully than a single ranking.
- Breadth. ByPeople spans resources, freebies, tools, and deals. Icon-first services concentrate on one asset type, which can mean deeper selection in that type and less coverage elsewhere.
- Specialization. Separate icon libraries from providers that offer illustrations, 3D assets, animation, or a wider range of design files. A service that is strong for icons may not cover your template or wireframe needs.
- Fit for the actual project. Start from the asset type you need, then compare file formats, license terms, and pricing on each provider’s own pages. Directory descriptions do not give a consistent side-by-side view of these commercial details.
There is no single best alternative to ByPeople. A practical shortlist looks like this:

Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →- If you need only icons, start with Streamline, The Noun Project, or another icon-first service on the list.
- If you need icons plus photos, music, or tools, Icons8 is the listing’s closest match to a multi-category provider.
- If your work includes animation or 3D elements, check IconScout’s Lottie and 3D offerings.
- If you need a curated mix of templates, mockups, and code-adjacent resources, ByPeople remains the broader directory on the list.
Verify before you commit
Directory descriptions can lag behind the products they describe. Before you pick a service, check these items on the provider’s own site:
Rank #3
- The current asset categories and file formats, such as SVG, PNG, or Lottie JSON, for the assets you need.
- The license for each asset type. Public-domain and Creative Commons icons carry different attribution and usage conditions, and the terms can differ between individual items.
- Current pricing, subscription or lifetime-deal terms, and whether a deal is limited in time.
- Whether the service is still active and maintained, especially for listings whose descriptions have not been updated recently.
Numbers that appear in directory or company copy, such as asset counts, should be treated as the publisher’s own claims. No independently audited figures for ByPeople’s scale or for competitors’ performance were available for this comparison.
When you test a shortlist, download a sample from each service, check that it opens in your design or development tool, and confirm the license covers your intended use before you build on it.
