You can use TigerGraph GraphRAG and a locally served Mistral Nemo model as building blocks for a fraud-investigation assistant, but the available documentation does not confirm that this exact system—“FraudSight”—has been implemented or tested. Treat it as a build plan: first confirm the GraphRAG version and deployment prerequisites, then configure the model-service boundary and validate retrieval, tool use, and safety on your own data.
What this build would contain
A GraphRAG fraud assistant is not just a model pointed at a database. It combines a graph database, retrieval and query mechanisms, and an LLM that turns a user’s question and retrieved evidence into a response. TigerGraph’s GraphRAG project documents two broad uses: natural-language question answering over graph data, and building a knowledge graph from documents. Its structured-question flow aligns a question with the graph schema, selects from curated database queries, and executes the chosen query. Its document-oriented flow combines vector search with graph traversal. These are documented capabilities of GraphRAG, not evidence of a fraud-specific system or a guarantee that answers are correct.

Retrieval modes to plan for
- Structural graph queries: useful when a question can be expressed as a defined query over entities and relationships.
- Vector search: retrieves semantically related material, which can help with document text or less exact phrasing.
- Community search: an additional option in GraphRAG’s Agentic chat, according to the current repository description.
GraphRAG v2.0.2, released by TigerGraph on August 28, 2026, describes both Classic chat, which follows a fixed pipeline, and Agentic chat, which chooses among structural graph queries, vector search, and community search. Confirm the behavior and setup instructions for the release you intend to deploy; the project changes over time.
What is documented—and what still needs proof
TigerGraph documents GraphRAG’s retrieval patterns, deployment options, and support for multiple LLM providers, including Ollama configuration examples. Mistral AI documents local execution routes for Mistral-Nemo-Instruct-2407. Together, those facts make a locally served model a plausible integration route, but they do not establish that this particular model works with GraphRAG as configured, or that it can reliably use the tools the application needs.
#1 Best Overall
| Area | Documented | Builder must establish |
|---|---|---|
| GraphRAG | Natural-language graph question answering, document-based retrieval, Classic and Agentic chat descriptions | Which features are enabled in the selected release and how they behave on the target graph |
| Model service | GraphRAG includes provider configuration examples for Ollama; the Mistral model card describes local inference routes | Provider protocol compatibility, model loading, tool or function calling, and request/response behavior in the chosen versions |
| Fraud use case | No fraud-specific accuracy, latency, or detection result is established | Whether the system retrieves relevant evidence and supports the intended analyst workflow under representative tests |
| Operational guarantees | The model card states the model has no moderation mechanisms; GraphRAG is provided as-is under the repository’s stated support terms | Access controls, safety policies, auditability, human review, and operational readiness |
Check prerequisites and select a deployment path
The current TigerGraph GraphRAG repository instructions list TigerGraph DB 4.2 or later and Docker Compose or Kubernetes as deployment options. They also list Python 3.11 or later for the demo script. These are repository prerequisites for the described setup, not hardware requirements for Mistral Nemo. Check the release-specific documentation before following a quickstart or adapting its configuration.
Choose the deployment route
- Docker Compose: a documented option to run the described setup. Confirm that the Compose instructions match your target GraphRAG release and database version.
- Kubernetes: also documented by the project. It entails configuring the deployment for your cluster, but the cited sources do not establish a particular production topology or recommended sizing.
Neither route is shown by these sources to be universally easier, faster, or more suitable for a fraud environment. Decide based on your existing operations, database compatibility, and requirements for managing the model service and graph components.

Configure the local model boundary
Mistral-Nemo-Instruct-2407 is an instruction-finetuned model trained jointly by Mistral AI and NVIDIA. The Mistral AI model card lists it as a 12-billion-parameter BF16 model, with an Apache 2.0 license and a 128k context window. It documents local use through Mistral Inference and Transformers. The model card does not specify a universal minimum hardware configuration; feasibility depends on hardware and inference settings. A local inference machine or GPU may be appropriate, but the cited specifications do not support a particular graphics-card recommendation.

Record the GraphRAG release, TigerGraph DB version, model-serving method, model identifier, and relevant inference settings. Verify compatibility against the documentation for those versions rather than assuming an example from another release applies.
- Run the model service independently. Load the model using a documented local route, such as Mistral Inference or Transformers, and confirm that it can accept and return requests in the format your service expects.
- Configure GraphRAG’s provider connection. Use the current GraphRAG instructions for the selected LLM provider and adapt the connection details to the local service. The sources do not provide a verified, exact configuration for Mistral-Nemo-Instruct-2407 with GraphRAG; do not treat an Ollama example as proof of compatibility with another serving setup.
- Test tool behavior before connecting fraud workflows. Check whether the model and serving stack can handle any tool or function-calling behavior required by the selected GraphRAG mode. Confirm that tool requests are recognized, executed, and returned in the expected format.
- Test grounding with known cases. Ask questions whose expected graph records and relationships are already verified. Check that responses reflect retrieved evidence, distinguish missing information from a negative finding, and do not invent entities or conclusions.
The 128k context figure is a model-card specification, not a promise that a particular GraphRAG request will fit, retrieve correctly, or produce a grounded answer. Measure the actual end-to-end path in your deployment.

Design fraud-specific controls before using live data
The Mistral AI Team’s model card says: “The Mistral Nemo Instruct model is a quick demonstration that the base model can be easily fine-tuned to achieve compelling performance. It does not have any moderation mechanisms.” A fraud workflow therefore needs controls outside the model. Decide which users can access which graph data, retain an audit trail appropriate to the workflow, and require human review for consequential investigative decisions. Test how the system handles sensitive data, ambiguous questions, unsupported allegations, and requests outside an analyst’s authorized scope.
Do not assume that running inference locally by itself establishes a privacy guarantee. Data handling also depends on how the application, database, logs, backups, and surrounding services are configured. Likewise, TigerGraph describes approved queries as a way to reduce the likelihood of hallucination; this is a vendor description, not a guarantee of accuracy.

Evaluate the application, not just the model
No fraud-detection score, application accuracy result, latency figure, memory requirement, or cost measurement for this proposed combination is established by the cited materials. Model-card benchmarks, if consulted, should not be presented as evidence of fraud performance. Build an evaluation set from representative questions and cases, with expected records or reviewer-approved answers, before drawing conclusions about usefulness.

Validation checklist
- Confirm that each question maps to the intended graph entities, relationships, or document evidence.
- Check whether retrieval returns the relevant records and whether the generated answer stays within that evidence.
- Include cases where the graph contains no answer, where evidence conflicts, and where a question is ambiguous.
- Verify that access restrictions apply to retrieval as well as to the final response.
- Have qualified reviewers assess whether outputs are appropriately qualified and suitable for the intended analyst workflow.
- Measure operational performance on your own environment before setting service expectations.
Do not describe the system as improving fraud detection, accuracy, speed, or privacy—or as production-ready—without suitable, system-specific evidence.
Understand licensing and project support
The Mistral AI model card lists Apache 2.0 for Mistral-Nemo-Instruct-2407. Review the license and any applicable terms for the exact model files and dependencies you use. TigerGraph’s repository says the project is provided as-is and that official support is limited to work delivered through a Statement of Work; customizations are self-service and customer-owned. Those terms matter when deciding who will maintain a customized deployment and address failures.
