A useful Mac presentation toolkit combines three jobs: marking up the screen content people are looking at, sketching on a separate canvas, and directing attention to the relevant pointer or area. The exact apps in any one person’s setup depend on their workflow; the available product information supports this functional framework, but does not identify a particular author’s toolkit or establish hands-on results.
Start with the explanation you need to make
Technical demos and lessons often move between showing an existing interface and explaining an idea that is not yet visible on screen. Those are different presentation tasks, so it helps to choose tools by function rather than treating “annotation” and “whiteboard” as interchangeable.

- Mark up existing content: draw over the app, browser, slide, or code already on screen to point out a control, relationship, or change.
- Sketch separately: use a distinct whiteboard canvas for a diagram or explanation that should not be drawn over the material being demonstrated.
- Guide attention: use pointer emphasis, a spotlight, or zoom when viewers need help following where to look.
Screen annotation and a whiteboard solve different problems
Annotate the screen when the detail is already there
Screen annotation is useful when the object of the lesson is an existing screen: for example, a setting in an app or a section of a browser page. Drawing directly over that content can connect the explanation to the exact control or area under discussion.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsUse a separate whiteboard when the explanation needs room
A whiteboard provides a separate space for freer sketches and diagrams. It is better suited to explaining a flow, structure, or concept that is not represented by the current app window. A presenter may need both modes in one session: annotation for the interface and a whiteboard for the idea behind it.

Presentify’s official site describes both on-screen annotation and a standalone whiteboard. That establishes examples of these software categories, not that Presentify is part of any particular person’s toolkit or that it performs well in a specific setup. Presentify’s official site
Add attention controls only when they help
Cursor highlighting, spotlight, and zoom are complementary to drawing. They can make a pointer easier to follow or emphasize a region without adding marks over the material. Presentify lists these capabilities on its official site, and its use-case page addresses teaching, tutorials, product demos, live presentations, and screen sharing. Those descriptions indicate the kinds of workflows the category serves; they are not independent compatibility or performance tests. Presentify features · Presentify use cases

Choose tools against your real presentation workflow
Before settling on a combination, check the tasks that matter in the actual session, recording, or screen share. A feature list alone cannot show whether a tool fits a particular Mac, macOS version, meeting app, or recording workflow.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- Identify the material you explain most: existing interfaces call for screen annotation; concepts that need a fresh diagram call for a separate canvas.
- Decide how viewers lose the thread: if they miss the pointer or cannot see a small area, consider cursor emphasis, spotlight, or zoom.
- Check the complete sharing or recording path: verify that the annotation and whiteboard behavior you need is available in the presentation context you actually use. The cited product pages describe functions, but do not establish compatibility with every app or setup.
- Confirm platform and commercial details directly: check current macOS compatibility, availability, and price on the relevant official listing before choosing a tool. These details can change, and the cited feature pages do not establish them.
Keep the toolkit proportional
A practical toolkit is defined by the explanations it enables, not by the number of apps or accessories it contains. The evidence here supports software functions—screen annotation, a separate whiteboard, and attention aids—but does not establish a need for a drawing tablet, stylus, presentation remote, recording hardware, or physical manual. Add hardware only when a real requirement in your own setup makes it useful.
