The Bugaboo Donkey Duo is a side-by-side stroller for two children, but “Donkey Duo” can refer to different generations. Bugaboo’s US page now marks the Donkey 5 Duo as no longer available, while its US lineup lists the Donkey 6 as the successor. The Donkey 5’s published specifications and independent Donkey 6 testing are not interchangeable: the Donkey 6 review evidence is useful context, not a test of the Donkey 5.
Which Donkey Duo does this review cover?
This review focuses on the Donkey 5 Duo specifications published by Bugaboo and separately reports hands-on findings for the Donkey 6. Bugaboo’s US Donkey 5 Duo page labels the product “No longer available.” Its UK Donkey 5 page showed a listing and limited-stock indications when checked; availability is regional and can change. Bugaboo’s US Donkey 6 listing identifies the newer double stroller.

Side-by-side seats and sibling configurations
The Duo’s defining feature is two seats beside one another rather than one behind the other. Bugaboo says the seats can be independently reversed and reclined, allowing different orientations for each child. The setup is intended for siblings of different ages, including a newborn and an older child. Bugaboo lists an age range of 0–4 years and a maximum of 22 kg (50 lb) for each seat; age and weight guidance should be checked against the product instructions and each child’s needs.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
A side-by-side arrangement keeps children close, but the shared width is a real trade-off. Bugaboo lists 74 cm (29.1 in) across in double mode. Measure the narrowest doorways, lift doors, hallways, shop aisles and vehicle access points you actually use; a published stroller width cannot guarantee passage through every opening or maneuvering room once you are inside.
Newborn use and car-seat compatibility
Bugaboo lists a bassinet and seat among the relevant configuration components, and says a car seat can be used with adapters. Its cited page does not establish a universally compatible car-seat and adapter pairing. Check the precise car-seat model, adapter and stroller generation before buying; do not assume that an adapter for one Donkey version or infant seat fits another.

Storage and included equipment
Bugaboo lists an underseat basket and a side luggage basket, each with a 10 kg (22 lb) limit, along with two sun canopies rated UPF 50+ and rain covers. The listed limits are manufacturer specifications, not a recommendation to exceed the manual’s loading or stability instructions.
Donkey 5 dimensions, weight and folding
Bugaboo lists the Donkey 5 Duo at 19.24 kg (42.41 lb) fully assembled with one seat and one bassinet. That is a substantial stroller to lift, particularly when loading it into a car or carrying it on steps. Its height in use is listed as 111 cm, and the handlebar adjusts from 86 to 106 cm.

| Assembled weight with seat and bassinet | 19.24 kg (42.41 lb) |
| Maximum per seat | 22 kg (50 lb) |
| Underseat basket limit | 10 kg (22 lb) |
| Side luggage basket limit | 10 kg (22 lb) |

| One-piece self-standing folded size | 52 × 74 × 90 cm (20.5 × 29.1 × 35.4 in) |
Bugaboo lists two fold choices: a one-piece self-standing fold and a more compact two-piece fold. The compact option requires separating the stroller into two parts; the one-piece option is easier to keep together but has a listed folded footprint that remains wide. Check the available boot space and the shape of its opening rather than relying only on a car’s advertised cargo volume.
What Donkey 6 hands-on testing says—and does not say
Mumsnet’s review, written by Laura Westerman and updated August 6, 2026, covers the Donkey 6. Parent tester Beth used it daily for four months with a two-month-old and a 15-month-old, including park and shopping outings, one train journey, pavements, gravel, grass and muddy paths. The reviewer reported smooth pushing on common surfaces and praised storage, comfort and perceived sturdiness. The tester also found it harder on sand and rough pebbles, awkward in small shops, and too wide for some doorways.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
Transport was the main practical compromise in that account. Folding and loading were laborious; in a small car the stroller took much of the boot. The tester found it challenging to lift onto public transport and said two people were needed to lift it onto a train where there was a step. Those are one family’s Donkey 6 observations, not direct Donkey 5 test results or a guarantee of how every family will fare.

How the Donkey 6 differs from the Donkey 5
Bugaboo’s US Donkey 6 double page lists the same 74 cm (29.1 in) double-mode width and a maximum of 22 kg (50 lb) per seat. It lists 19.04 kg (42.1 lb) assembled with bassinet and seat, a 15 kg (33 lb) or 70 L underseat basket, and a side-bag limit of 10 kg on the chassis in single mode or 4 kg on the handlebar in double mode. Its listed one-piece self-standing fold is 56 × 79.5 × 90 cm (22 × 31.3 × 35.4 in). These figures are Donkey 6 specifications, not revisions to the Donkey 5 table above.
Bugaboo describes the Donkey 6 as converting between single and double in three clicks, with reversible and reclining side-by-side seats and larger all-terrain wheels. The manufacturer says the underseat basket is 50% larger than earlier models; that is Bugaboo’s comparison claim. Its product page also says the Donkey 6’s CO2 footprint is reduced by 17% compared with previous models. That is a manufacturer statement, not an independently verified lifecycle assessment in the sources cited here.
Bugaboo listed the Donkey 6 double at $2,169 on its US page when checked. The UK Donkey 5 page showed £1,224 against a stated original price of £1,530, with mixed stock indications. These are regional page listings, not stable or directly comparable prices; confirm current local availability and price before deciding.
Who should consider it—and who should look elsewhere?
It may suit your routine if
- You want two children seated side by side, with independently adjustable seat direction and recline.
- You often walk on paths, grass or mixed everyday surfaces and can store a large stroller at home.
- You have measured your regular doorways, lift, storage area and vehicle opening and found adequate clearance.
- You can manage the stroller’s weight and folding routine, or have help for lifting and transport.
Think carefully if
- Your daily route includes narrow doorways, cramped shops, crowded public transport or frequent stairs.
- You need a stroller that folds quickly and fits into a small car boot without taking most of its space.
- You expect a car-seat setup to work without checking exact model and adapter compatibility.
- You are shopping for a Donkey 5 but relying on a Donkey 6 review as proof of how the older generation performs.
Buying checklist
- Identify the generation. Confirm whether the listing is for Donkey 5 Duo or Donkey 6, and check that any included parts match that version.
- Check local stock and price. Donkey 5 availability differs by region; the US page says no longer available, while a UK listing showed limited-stock indications when checked.
- Measure the route and storage. Compare the 74 cm double-mode width with your actual tightest passage, then measure the space available for the selected folded configuration.
- Plan lifting and loading. At about 19 kg assembled, the Donkey 5 is not a lightweight stroller. If possible, handle the model and practice folding and lifting before purchase.
- Verify child-seat setup. Confirm bassinet or seat configuration for each child and verify the exact car-seat and adapter combination if needed.
- Compare the correct specifications. Check the manufacturer’s page for the exact generation and configuration rather than mixing Donkey 5 and Donkey 6 basket, fold or weight figures.
Verdict
The Donkey Duo’s strength is a flexible side-by-side setup with substantial storage and options for children at different stages. Its 74 cm width, roughly 19 kg assembled weight and two-part compact fold make space and transport central buying questions, not minor details. For a current purchase, distinguish the Donkey 5 from the Donkey 6: the older model’s availability varies by region, and the available hands-on review evidence here is for the successor only.
