Buffer vs. Loomly: Which Social Media Tool Fits Your Workflow in 2026?

Buffer’s per-channel pricing and free starting point suit many solo users; Loomly’s bundled accounts, seats and approval workflows may suit teams. Compare your exact channels, users and needs.

Buffer is usually the better fit for solo creators and small businesses that want a free way to start or prefer paying by social channel. Loomly is a stronger fit to consider when a team needs bundled account and user limits with built-in approval workflows. The right choice depends on the networks you publish to, your number of channels and seats, and whether team review and reporting justify the plan cost. Check current pricing and entitlements before you commit.

How Buffer and Loomly differ

The main distinction is how each tool packages capacity and collaboration. Buffer’s paid plans are priced by social channel, while Loomly sells bundles with account and user limits. That makes a starting price a poor guide to your actual cost: compare the plan total for your channels, team size and billing period.

Decision point Buffer Loomly What to compare
Pricing unit Paid plans priced per channel; volume bands can affect cost. Plan bundles with channel and user limits. Your current and expected accounts, seat count and billing period.
Solo use A free tier and a one-user Essentials option are described. A bundle may include more accounts and users than a solo user needs. Whether free access or bundled capacity matters more.
Team collaboration Collaboration features are associated with the Team plan. Approval workflows and multi-user plans are part of its positioning. How many reviewers you need and whether you manage client approvals.
Network support The comparison lists X, Mastodon and Substack Notes. The comparison lists Snapchat and a custom-channel option. Required network, account type and whether publishing is automatic.
Analytics Basic analytics are described for the free plan; paid analytics vary by tier. Advanced analytics are described in plan materials. Which reports and data-retention options your workflow requires.

These are product and plan descriptions, not independent performance findings. The comparison was published by Buffer on September 2, 2026, so treat it as a useful but vendor-authored overview; confirm volatile details on Buffer’s pricing page and Loomly’s pricing page.

Which tool is better for your situation?

Choose Buffer if you want to start small

Buffer is the more natural fit if you are a solo creator or small business looking for a free starting point, or if you want costs to scale with the number of channels. The comparison describes a free plan with three channels and up to 10 scheduled posts per channel, refillable after publication. It also describes Essentials at $6 per channel per month for one user. These are reported plan details, not a guarantee of today’s limits or price; check the current pricing page and Buffer’s plan help page before choosing.

The comparison places collaboration features on Buffer’s Team plan. If several people need to review or approve content, compare that plan’s current terms with the Loomly bundle you would otherwise buy rather than assuming the solo-oriented option will cover a team workflow.

Consider Loomly if approvals and bundled seats matter

Loomly’s bundled structure may suit a team that wants multiple users and accounts in a package, especially if approval workflows are central to its publishing process. The comparison reports a Starter plan at $65 per month for three users and 12 social accounts, with scheduling, approval workflows, advanced analytics, limited AI assistant use and other features. The official Loomly pricing page describes bundles, collaboration, scheduling, advanced analytics and monthly or yearly billing. Confirm current price, included features and limits there before purchase.

Loomly’s pricing page also describes a 50% lifetime discount for nonprofit organizations that present qualifying documentation. Eligibility and terms are vendor-defined and can change, so verify them directly with Loomly if relevant.

Check network support before switching

The comparison lists both services for Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Pinterest, Threads, Bluesky and Google Business Profile. It lists X, Mastodon and Substack Notes for Buffer, while Loomly’s list includes Snapchat and one custom channel per calendar. Confirm your exact account type and publishing method in the product documentation before migrating: a listed network does not by itself establish that every post format can be published automatically.

Loomly’s custom channel is not described as having the same auto-publishing behavior as a supported social network. The comparison describes scheduled email notifications for manual posting or a Zapier workaround. Treat that as a different workflow, not equivalent automatic publishing, and verify what the current product supports.

Compare the workflow and total cost, not just the entry price

  1. List your accounts and seats. Count each social channel you actually need, the people who will use the tool and any likely additions.
  2. Mark required networks and formats. Check the account type and whether each planned format can be auto-published or requires a notification and manual posting.
  3. Map your review process. Identify who drafts, reviews and approves posts, then confirm those roles and workflows are included in the plan you would buy.
  4. Identify the reports you need. Compare the exact analytics available at the relevant tier rather than relying only on labels such as “basic” or “advanced.”
  5. Calculate the plan total. For Buffer, use the number of channels and the applicable plan and billing period. For Loomly, check which bundle covers your accounts and users. Include expected growth, not just today’s setup.
  6. Reconfirm terms before subscribing. Pricing and entitlements can change; consult each vendor’s live pricing page before making a decision.

The comparison also lists Loomly integrations with Zapier, Slack, Teams, Canva, Giphy, Google Drive and Unsplash. That list does not establish that every integration is available on every plan, so verify plan-level access for any integration your workflow depends on.
