Neither BrowserStack Screenshots nor LambdaTest is a universal winner for QA. BrowserStack’s Percy materials emphasize visual comparisons and plan-specific screenshot allowances; LambdaTest’s SmartUI materials describe baseline-based visual testing and an API for screenshot workflows. The better fit depends on the browsers and devices your team must test, whether you need one-off captures or regression review, and how each service fits your CI and budget. Compare both using the same pages and expected visual changes before choosing.
First decide what “screenshots” means for your QA workflow
A screenshot can be a record of how a page renders in a particular browser or viewport, useful for checking compatibility and responsive layouts. Visual regression testing goes further: it compares a new capture with a baseline, highlights differences, and gives the team a way to review whether each change is intended.

Those workflows overlap, but they are not interchangeable. If your need is to inspect a few browser/device combinations, prioritize the exact environment coverage and ease of capture. If you need to catch unintended changes on every build, prioritize baseline management, useful diffs, review and history, and CI integration.
How the documented workflows compare
BrowserStack Screenshots and Percy
BrowserStack’s pricing page describes Percy as visual comparison across browsers, with computer-vision and machine-learning diffs, automatic browser upgrades, grouping by test case, and adjustable comparison sensitivity. These are vendor-described capabilities, not an independent comparative quality assessment. See the BrowserStack pricing page for current product details.
#1 Best Overall
BrowserStack also describes a separate Live free-trial offer: 30 minutes of Live cross-browser testing, including “100 Screenshots + Responsive.” The same support page says responsive screenshots count toward the Live trial screenshot total, and lists Percy at 5,000 screenshots per month. These are distinct trial contexts, not one combined allowance. Check the BrowserStack free-trial FAQ for terms.
LambdaTest SmartUI and screenshot API
LambdaTest’s Smart Visual UI tutorial shows a baseline-and-comparison workflow: add baseline images, run comparisons against new images, then inspect identified visual issues using side-by-side or slider views. The tutorial gives examples of differences it can identify, including icon size, padding, color, layout, text, and element position. See the Smart Visual UI Testing tutorial.

The vendor’s SmartUI API documentation, branded TestMu AI and marked version 1.0.1, describes uploading screenshots for visual regression and retrieving build or screenshot status and screenshots. LambdaTest’s separate Edge browser page describes automated screenshot testing, visual regression, and cloud browser testing. Because the materials show LambdaTest and TestMu AI branding, confirm the current product and documentation names when evaluating the service.
Compare the fit against your actual requirements
Marketing counts for browsers or devices do not establish that a service covers your specific QA matrix. Write down the environments and workflow you need, then verify each item against the current product and plan.
Rank #3
- Browser and device matrix: list browser names and versions, operating systems, real devices if required, and the viewport sizes or resolutions your tests use.
- Capture versus regression: decide whether you need individual captures, responsive checks, baseline comparisons, or all three.
- Automation: check whether the documented API or framework support can run in your CI system and return results in a form your team can use.
- Review: test how reviewers see differences, distinguish intended updates from regressions, and keep or update baselines.
- Operational fit: assess whether the workflow handles dynamic content and how long it takes your team to reach a useful triage decision.
- Commercial terms: compare screenshot volume, mobile coverage, overages, concurrency, trial conditions, and contract terms for the specific plans you would buy.
What the published plan figures do—and do not—show
BrowserStack’s pricing page, as captured in 2026, listed Percy’s desktop plan at $199 per month billed annually, with 10,000 screenshots per month and additional screenshots at $0.036 each. Its desktop-and-mobile plan was listed at $599 per month billed annually, with 25,000 screenshots per month and additional screenshots at $0.048 each. The page also presents a free plan. These figures are a dated capture of a dynamic vendor pricing page, not a lasting quote; confirm current terms at BrowserStack pricing.
These figures do not establish which service is cheaper overall. They describe different BrowserStack Percy configurations, and the cited LambdaTest materials do not provide comparable plan prices or screenshot allowances. Calculate cost using your expected volume, mobile needs, overage exposure, and any applicable contract terms rather than comparing unlike plan figures.

Run a fair trial before committing
- Choose representative pages: include pages with common layouts, responsive behavior, and dynamic elements that matter to your product.
- Keep the test conditions aligned: use the same page or build, viewport, browser version, and test data wherever both services support the environment.
- Set a baseline and make a known change: include one intentional UI change and check whether reviewers can tell it apart from unintended visual differences.
- Exercise the real automation path: run the capture or comparison in the CI job your team expects to use, then inspect how results reach the people responsible for review.
- Track practical outcomes: note environment coverage, time to useful triage, review clarity, baseline upkeep, and the plan cost at your expected usage.
- Check plan terms live: verify trial limits and the exact volume, device coverage, overages, and contract terms before purchase.
Try ScreenshotNeo first if you want a straightforward screenshot API
ScreenshotNeo is an alternative to try first when your task is making website captures through an API: cookie banners, popups, and chat widgets are removed before the shot; bot checks, blank pages, and failed loads are never billed; an MCP server lets AI agents take screenshots; and 1,000 screenshots a month are free with no card, with paid plans starting at $5 for 3,000. It is not a like-for-like substitute for a baseline-driven visual QA service, so choose based on whether you need captures or a reviewed regression workflow.

How to choose
Choose based on the environments your team has verified and the work you need screenshots to do. For cross-browser visual regression, compare the actual baseline, diff, review, and automation flows. For capture-focused checks, prioritize the exact browser/device matrix and capture integration. The vendor materials support feature descriptions, but do not establish an independent winner on speed, reliability, accuracy, or overall value.
