Bose does not present that figure as an independent test result or a promise for every listening session; the guide says battery performance varies with the audio content and playback loudness. In practice, treat 14 hours as a reference point. If the speaker runs for noticeably less time than it used to, Bose’s Owner’s Guide points owners toward battery replacement support rather than specifying a remaining-runtime threshold. The Bose Owner’s Guide says only Bose can replace this model’s battery.

Bose recommends three hours for a full charge and says to charge the speaker for three hours before first use. You can play audio while it is connected to power, according to the Quick Start Guide. Actual charging time can vary; the three-hour figure is Bose’s recommended charge duration.

What to check if the battery light stays yellow or red
Yellow blinking after a long charge
Bose’s Owner’s Guide says to consider battery replacement if the battery indicator is still blinking yellow after ten hours of charging. That is a warning sign identified in the guide, not a guarantee that every charging or indicator problem has the same cause.
Red battery light
For a battery light that is always red, Bose’s support article advises checking that the connected power outlet works and provides a repair or replacement action. The Bose battery-light support page identifies this as the SoundLink Bluetooth speaker III and notes that the model was sold from 2014 to 2017. Service options may depend on region and when you contact Bose.

Speaker left unplugged and unused
The Quick Start Guide says the battery enters protection mode if the speaker is unplugged and unused for more than 24 days. Connecting it to AC power reactivates it. Bose describes this as a preservation mode; it is not, by itself, a diagnosis of battery failure.

Bose’s Owner’s Guide states that only Bose can replace the speaker’s battery and directs owners to contact the Bose organization in their country or region. Because this is a legacy model, the existence of that instruction does not guarantee that service is available everywhere today. Bose also maintains a battery removal instructions support index; consult Bose for the appropriate service route for your location.

Power supply specifications
The Owner’s Guide lists the AC power supply input as 100–240 V AC, 50/60 Hz, 600 mA, and its output as 17 V DC, 1 A maximum. The speaker’s input rating is 17–20 V DC, 1 A maximum. Those specifications can help identify a charging supply, but voltage alone does not establish compatibility. Before buying a replacement adapter, verify the exact speaker model, connector, and regional plug.
