What the Bose 700 do well
Adjustable noise cancellation
Bose lists 11 noise-cancellation levels, giving listeners a choice of how much outside sound to reduce. The headphones also offer a transparency mode. In his April 20, 2025 review, Tom’s Guide’s Alex Bracetti praised the cancellation and transparency experience. That is a reviewer’s judgment rather than a standardized noise-reduction measurement.

Call-focused microphone system
Bose specifies eight microphones in total and describes the system as supporting voice pickup. Bracetti praised call quality and wind handling in his review. Those observations make calls a notable strength, though results in a particular call can still depend on surroundings and the device or service being used.
Touch controls and design
Bose documents tap and swipe gestures for volume, playback, track changes, and calls. Bracetti found the controls responsive and praised the headphones’ distinctive, premium appearance, including their finish and materials. These are practical and aesthetic advantages, not proof that every listener will prefer the control scheme or fit.

Where the trade-offs matter
Battery life is a rated maximum, not a guarantee
Bose says the rechargeable battery provides up to 20 hours of full-featured audio playback. This is Bose’s undated product FAQ specification, accessed in 2026—not an independent runtime test. Battery age and listening habits can affect actual use time, especially when considering a used or refurbished pair.
The earcups do not fold
Bracetti noted that the headphones do not fold. The included carrying case provides a way to store and transport them, but the non-folding design still takes up space for people who pack headphones into a tight bag.

The feature set may feel dated
Bracetti described the feature set as comparatively limited. Treat that as one reviewer’s assessment rather than a complete feature-by-feature comparison against current flagship headphones. If you are choosing between models, compare the specific features you need—such as connectivity, controls, transparency, and call functions—against current official specifications.
Availability and buying checks
Bose Support lists the consumer Noise Cancelling Headphones 700 as “Sold from 2019 – 2024.” That does not establish whether a particular retailer has stock today. Tom’s Guide mentioned refurbished availability in April 2025, but that historical observation does not confirm current inventory or pricing.

If you find a pair, check these details before paying:
- Whether it is new old stock, refurbished, or used, and who is responsible for the refurbishment.
- Battery condition, where the seller can provide it, and the return window if runtime is poor.
- Warranty coverage and whether it applies to your location and purchase channel.
- Which accessories are included, including the carrying case and charging cable.
- Whether the seller’s description identifies the consumer model rather than the separate 700 UC variant.
Do not confuse the consumer 700 with the 700 UC
The 700 UC is a separate workplace-oriented variant. Bose says it shares the microphone system and 11 cancellation levels, while adding a pre-paired Bose USB Link and workplace platform certification. Those UC-specific bundle details should not be assumed to apply to a consumer-model listing.
