What kind of dishwasher is the Bosch SMP66MX01A?
Bosch describes the SMP66MX01A as a stainless-steel, 60 cm built-under dishwasher with capacity for 15 place settings. It is an older Australian-market model, not a current Bosch product. Bosch’s product page says “Product is no longer available”; CHOICE also marks it discontinued. That does not establish whether a particular seller has remaining or used stock.

Will it fit your kitchen?
Bosch lists the appliance dimensions as 815 × 598 × 573 mm and the installation niche as 815–875 × 600 × 550 mm. Check the actual cabinet opening and the installation instructions before buying or arranging installation: the niche dimensions alone do not account for every hose route, door movement, plinth or cabinetry clearance.

How are the racks and features laid out?
The third loading level, Bosch’s VarioDrawer, is intended for cutlery and small utensils, leaving more room in the main baskets than a conventional cutlery basket may allow. The upper basket uses three-level Rackmatic adjustment, which lets you change its height to make room for taller items below or above. A GlassSecure Tray provides a dedicated place for glasses.
Bosch also lists ExtraDry, InfoLight, AquaSensor, a heat exchanger, EcoSilence Drive and AquaStop Plus. ExtraDry is an option for additional drying; InfoLight projects a light onto the floor while the built-under appliance is operating. The model has no Wi-Fi or Home Connect connectivity. Bosch’s 2020 catalogue lists six programmes and four options; programme names and availability should be checked in the model manual.

The 12.0 L, 0.64 kWh and 170-minute figures are Bosch’s published reference-programme specifications, not a promise that every wash uses the same resources or takes the same time. CHOICE’s star ratings and annual energy figure are also listed claims, not independent measurements presented here.
What do reviews and independent tests establish?
CHOICE’s public listing marks the dishwasher discontinued, but its Expert Rating and detailed washing, drying, energy, water, noise and programme-time results are restricted to members. No public numerical test result is available here to support a claim that it cleans or dries better than another model.

ProductReview displays a 4.0 score from nine reviews. Individual reports are mixed: one reviewer praises quiet operation, cleaning and layout, while another describes recurring wash, drain, tablet-dissolving and error issues. This small, self-selected set is not a reliability study; it cannot establish a typical lifespan, defect rate or common fault.
What should you compare if you need a replacement?
Because the SMP66MX01A is no longer available from Bosch, assess any alternative against the needs this model’s specifications make clear, rather than assuming a newer dishwasher is a direct fit or upgrade:

- Ownership: check connectivity if it matters, plus warranty, local service and current price.
