If familiar roguelike deckbuilders are starting to feel predictable, Dicevaders may be worth a look: it replaces much of the usual card-first emphasis with dice manipulation, tactical placement and score-building combos. Its randomness is something you can influence, not something the official description says you can eliminate, so its appeal depends on whether shaping a run’s odds sounds more fun than removing chance altogether.
What kind of game is Dicevaders?
Dicevaders is a single-player, turn-based roguelike deckbuilder set in the StarVaders universe. On a grid, you build an alien force, acquire units and artifacts, and place invaders to improve your scoring potential. Different commanders offer distinct strategic approaches, synergies, perks and artifacts; the game’s store description also says StarVaders pilots appear as opponents whose abilities can disrupt an invasion. Steam’s listing describes it as a dice-based roguelike deckbuilder.

How does it let you shape dice rolls?
The advertised mechanics give players tools to steer outcomes. Chrono can reroll dice and refresh the shop, while budge can manipulate the throw. Matching dice into pairs, triples or quadruples can trigger combos. Those systems create opportunities to pursue a plan rather than accept every result as-is, but they do not establish that chance disappears entirely.

That distinction matters if the phrase “perfecting dice rolls” sounds like guaranteed control. The more accurate expectation is a game about influencing randomness and building around results, not a promise that every roll can be made ideal.
Who might enjoy it—and who might not?
It may fit if you like
- Experimenting with rerolls and other ways to manipulate dice.
- Turn-based grid placement and tactical decisions.
- Building scoring engines through units, artifacts and combinations.
- Roguelike runs where adapting to results is part of the strategy.
It may be a weaker fit if you want
- A primarily conventional card-drafting deckbuilder.
- A system in which randomness is removed rather than managed.
- A recommendation supported by hands-on testing or broad critical consensus: the available evidence here is official store copy and a developer announcement, not independent reviews.
Where can you play it, and what does Steam list?
Steam gives September 29, 2026 as the release date, with Pengonauts as developer and Playstack as publisher. A developer announcement says the game launched on Steam and Nintendo Switch 1 and 2 on the same date. That announcement is evidence of the launch, but it does not verify availability in every regional Nintendo eShop or feature parity between platforms.

Steam lists single-player play, achievements, Steam Cloud and Family Sharing. Its listing shows 11 interface/subtitle languages and no full audio languages; those details apply to the Steam listing, not necessarily the Switch versions. For your preferred platform, check its current regional store page for availability, price, supported languages and any accessibility details you need. The available sources do not establish a meaningful PC-versus-Switch performance comparison.
