This guide does not offer a checked list of 28 live websites built with Bootstrap. No source we could verify documents 28 current sites that each use Bootstrap, so a fixed count would be a guess. What you can do instead is find real Bootstrap-built sites, confirm each one yourself using the site’s own code, and judge what is worth studying. The sections below explain where to look, how to check, and what the framework’s current release and support status means for any site you find.
Why a site’s look is not proof it uses Bootstrap
Bootstrap is a front-end toolkit, and its default styling is easy to recognize. That same flexibility means many sites use Bootstrap heavily customized, so their appearance may bear little resemblance to the defaults. The reverse also happens: a site that looks like a Bootstrap demo may be built on something else entirely. Redesigns can also remove the framework without any announcement. For these reasons, a directory entry or a visual impression is only a starting point. The claim that a site uses Bootstrap should rest on evidence you can point to and date.

Where to find examples of sites using Bootstrap
Bootstrap Expo
Bootstrap Expo describes itself as a showcase of sites using Bootstrap, and says it curates for quality and comprehensive examples. Use it to discover candidates. Treat each listing as a lead, then check the live site yourself, because a showcase entry can describe a site that has since been redesigned or taken offline.

Bootstrap’s official examples
The framework’s examples page offers both reusable snippets and complete layouts, including Album, Pricing, Checkout, Product, Blog, Dashboard, and Sign-in. The page describes its purpose this way: “Quickly get a project started with any of our examples ranging from using parts of the framework to custom components and layouts.” These are Bootstrap’s own demonstrations, not independent production websites. They are the best place to learn how a layout is built, but they will not tell you which live sites use the framework.

How to check whether a site really uses Bootstrap
The following method uses only what a public page sends to your browser. It works on most sites that load their assets directly, and it takes a few minutes per site.
-
Open the page in a desktop browser and choose View Page Source. Use Ctrl+U on Windows or Linux, or Cmd+Option+U on macOS.
-
Search the source for “bootstrap” with Ctrl+F or Cmd+F. Look for a stylesheet link or script tag whose file name contains bootstrap, such as bootstrap.min.css or bootstrap.bundle.min.js. If the site loads from a content delivery network, the path may also include a version number, for example /5.3.8/.

Confirm the assets load in the Network panel. Open developer tools with F12 (or Ctrl+Shift+I, or Cmd+Option+I on macOS), select Network, reload the page, and filter for “bootstrap”. A file that appears here was actually requested and served on that visit.
-
Note class names as clues. Names such as container, row, col-md-6, navbar-expand-lg, and btn-primary are characteristic of Bootstrap, but other frameworks and custom stylesheets can reuse them. Treat them as supporting evidence, not proof on their own.
-
Read version clues from attributes and classes. Bootstrap 5 uses data-bs-* attributes, such as data-bs-toggle, and ms-* and me-* spacing utilities. Bootstrap 4 and 3 use plain data-toggle attributes. The col-xs-* grid classes appear in Bootstrap 3 only. These clues suggest a version line but do not confirm the exact release a site runs.

Record your evidence. Save the page URL, the date you checked, the file or class names you found, and whether the site was live when you looked. Dated notes are what let you tell current use apart from a past showcase entry.

If you find no Bootstrap file and no characteristic class names, that does not prove the site avoids the framework. A site can compile Bootstrap’s Sass into its own stylesheet, which removes the recognizable file names and may rename or strip classes.
How strong is each kind of evidence?
| Evidence you find | What it shows | Limit |
|---|---|---|
| Bootstrap CSS or JS file loaded by the page | The framework’s assets were served on the date you checked | Does not show how much is customized; can change at the next redesign |
| Version number in the file path | The specific release the page loads | Describes that file only, not the site’s current release |
| Bootstrap-style class names only | Suggests a Bootstrap-like grid or component system | Other frameworks and custom CSS can reuse the same names |
| Visual resemblance to Bootstrap defaults | Very little on its own | Heavily customized sites can look unlike Bootstrap; default-looking sites may use other tools |
| Dated technical disclosure from the site’s owner or developer | A direct statement about the stack | Strongest when specific and recent; it still needs a date |
| Listing on Bootstrap Expo | A showcase lead | Not proof of current use |
Bootstrap versions and what they mean for a site
Bootstrap’s homepage listed version 5.3.8 when we checked it. Release numbers change, so confirm the current version on the official homepage before you start a project. A release number describes the framework, not the version any particular site runs.
| Version line | Support status | What it means for you |
|---|---|---|
| Bootstrap 3 | End of life July 24, 2019, per the v3.4 documentation | A live site on v3 is still running, but it no longer receives framework updates. Plan an upgrade for any maintained project. |
| Bootstrap 4 | End of life January 1, 2023, per the v3.4 documentation | Same maintenance concern as v3. Plan a move to Bootstrap 5. |
| Bootstrap 5 | Current line; the homepage listed v5.3.8 when we checked | Use this line for new projects. Check the homepage for newer releases. |
The end-of-life dates come from Bootstrap’s v3.4 documentation, which recommends starting with Bootstrap 5 or upgrading to it. A site’s age or version says nothing about how well it is designed; it only tells you how the framework is maintained.
What to study when you compare examples
Judge each site by what you can observe directly, rather than by an assigned score. Compare sites on these axes:

- Layout and navigation. How the header, menus, and page sections are arranged.
- Content density and visual hierarchy. How much information is on each screen and what draws the eye first.
- Responsive behavior. Resize the browser or use device mode in developer tools to compare mobile and desktop widths.
- Customization versus defaults. Which parts keep Bootstrap’s standard components and which have been rebuilt.
- Evidence quality and date. How you confirmed the Bootstrap connection and when you checked it.
From browsing to building
Start from official examples
Bootstrap’s v5.3 examples present starting approaches for a CDN, Sass and JavaScript, Parcel, React, Vite, Vue, and Webpack, along with snippets and custom components. These give you a reliable route from a layout you like to a working prototype.

Choose a template carefully
Third-party marketplaces sell Bootstrap themes and templates. Before you buy, compare the framework version, the update history, the included components, the documentation, the support terms, and the license. A product labeled as Bootstrap may include an older release, so check the version it actually ships.
Learn from a dedicated book
Practical Bootstrap, published by Apress in 2020 and listed by Springer Nature, includes exercises on responsive pages, navigation bars, themes, cover pages, dashboards, forms, and modal dialogs. Because it dates from 2020, compare its instructions with the current Bootstrap documentation before you follow them.
