What is included in the 27-form collection?
Colorlib describes the examples as free downloads with live demos, built with HTML5 and CSS3 and, where needed, a few lines of vanilla JavaScript. The publisher says they can be used on their own or in Bootstrap 4, 5, or 6 projects. These are the publisher’s descriptions, not independent test results.
The 2026 article brings together 25 existing Colorlib Search Form templates and two newer patterns. The earlier version appeared as “25 Free CSS3 & HTML5 Search Form Examples 2026” on October 1, 2025, according to the Colorlib tutorial archive.

How to choose a form for your site
Start with the task visitors need to complete, then include only the fields that support it. More fields are not automatically better: each one must correspond to information your results system can use.
- Blog or content site: a single keyword field may be enough.
- Online store: consider a category control alongside the query when category filtering is supported.
- Travel booking: destination, dates, and guest count are typical inputs; your booking system must accept and interpret them.
For a large hero design, also consider the image payload. Colorlib reports v6 at 2.4 MB, mostly its background image, and v3 at 19 KB. Those are figures stated on the collection page, not independent measurements. The newer Hero V12 is listed at 364 KB and Offcanvas V09 at 195 KB. Compress or convert a large image where appropriate, and check the final downloaded assets rather than assuming the page figure is the size your site will serve.

How to connect a form to search results
A visual demo does not establish that a template is wired to your site. The form must submit to a results URL or booking engine, and each input’s name must match a parameter that the receiving system understands. Colorlib’s implementation guidance uses a GET request for an HTML search form.

- Set the form’s
actionto your results URL or the endpoint provided by your booking system. - Set
method="get"for a search query that should be sent as URL parameters, if that matches your back end’s requirements. - Give each input a
namethat matches the parameter expected by the results system. A field can look correct and still fail if its name or submitted value is wrong. - Test a real submission and confirm that the destination page receives and uses every required value.
For a WordPress site using its built-in search, Colorlib gives a keyword input named s submitted to the home page as an example. For booking or directory searches, the receiving back end needs corresponding support for the submitted parameters; adding fields to the interface alone does not create that functionality.
What to check before using a template
- Dependencies: Colorlib says the designs do not require Bootstrap, jQuery, or plugins; some use no JavaScript, while others use a small amount of vanilla JavaScript. Check the particular download for its actual files and requirements.
- Input behavior: some templates use native browser date fields and real select controls. Confirm that the chosen controls suit your users and work with your destination system.
- Labels and feedback: use clear labels for inputs and communicate invalid or incomplete dates. Colorlib recommends real labeled inputs and valid date ranges, but the collection’s accessibility behavior has not been independently established here.
- Responsive layout: verify the design at the screen sizes your audience uses. The publisher’s descriptions should not be treated as independent confirmation of responsive behavior.
- Payload: inspect images and other assets in the downloaded package, especially for full-width hero layouts.
License and attribution
Colorlib’s FAQ states: “Yes. They are free under CC BY 3.0: use them in personal and commercial projects and keep the credit link.” Treat that as the publisher’s stated license guidance, not a substitute for checking the license and attribution instructions included with the specific download. Preserve the required credit when using a template.
