Breville Australia and CHOICE publish different power figures and use different dimension formats. The measurements are broadly consistent when rounded, but the power difference is not explained in the available information.

What the controls and technology are meant to do
Sensor iQ Smart Reheat
Breville says Smart Reheat detects steam and uses that signal to set time and power automatically. That is the manufacturer’s description of the feature, not independent evidence that it produces a particular result with every food, portion or container.

Breville describes the inverter as adjusting power intensity rather than relying on an on/off approach. The product page does not provide independent comparative results for this model, so treat this as a design claim rather than a guarantee of more even cooking.

Breville claims the door is “80% quieter” and operation “50% quieter.” The public product page does not establish the comparison or test conditions behind those percentages, so they should be read as manufacturer claims, not independently verified measurements.
Will it fit, and can it be used in your country?
Measure the space using the full depth with handle, and check the manual’s installation requirements before setting the microwave in place. CHOICE says this model needs 20 cm clearance above and 10 cm at the sides and should not be placed in a cabinet; verify those instructions against the exact model manual and local installation guidance before relying on them.

The Australian BMO840 listing specifies a 240 V supply and 1250 W output. Do not assume it is electrically interchangeable with another country’s microwave or a related Smooth Wave model. Breville’s Canadian and US pages surface the BMO850, not the BMO840; those regional listings do not establish matching voltage, configuration, price or warranty.

What independent testing establishes
CHOICE’s public listing identifies the appliance as a turntable microwave and shows the specifications and listed price above, but does not expose its expert rating, detailed scores, pros or cons. No performance conclusion should be inferred from information hidden behind membership access.
RTINGS reviewed a product titled “the Smooth Wave” on July 10, 2024, with a modification date of August 6, 2026. Its page reports 34 L advertised volume, 31.3 L measured volume and a 31.5 cm turntable for the unit it tested. Safety and care
The official manual says the microwave is intended for heating, cooking or drying food, and requires proper grounding and installation according to its supplied instructions. It warns that whole eggs and sealed containers can explode. The manual also says servicing beyond cleaning should be handled by qualified personnel or through Breville support. Read the model-specific BMO840 instruction manual before installation or use; Breville’s BMO840 product hub provides the model’s support landing page.
