BlueVoyant has launched a Microsoft Defender XDR ISOC Deployment Service for organizations preparing to use Microsoft’s Integrated Security Operations Center (ISOC). The offer starts with a no-cost readiness assessment; BlueVoyant has not disclosed a price for the subsequent deployment work. ISOC itself remains a Microsoft preview feature, so customer eligibility and capabilities depend on Microsoft’s current rollout and licensing conditions.
What BlueVoyant’s ISOC service includes
BlueVoyant announced the service on September 23, 2026, for Microsoft 365 E5, Microsoft 365 E7 and Microsoft Defender Suite customers. The company says it is available now, with implementation dependent on customer eligibility, agreed scope and Microsoft’s phased rollout. Its announcement describes a no-cost ISOC Readiness Assessment for customers and prospects, followed by separately scoped deployment assistance.

BlueVoyant says deployment assistance can include:
- Defender deployment and configuration across Endpoint, Identity, Office 365, Cloud Apps and Entra ID Identity Protection.
- Walkthroughs of ISOC custom detections, workbooks, automation and user and entity behavior analytics (UEBA).
- Use-case engineering to develop and refine detection rules, workbooks and automations.
The companion deployment guide describes the base engagement as scoped to one tenant. The launch materials do not state an implementation price, guaranteed timeline or detailed service-level commitments.

ISOC is a Microsoft Defender preview, not a standalone product
Microsoft describes ISOC as preview functionality in the Defender portal that brings security information and event management (SIEM) and extended detection and response (XDR) capabilities together with threat intelligence, automation and AI. It is an expansion of eligible customers’ existing Microsoft investments rather than a standalone product. Preview terms and capabilities may change; consult Microsoft’s current ISOC documentation before planning a deployment.

Who can use ISOC during the preview
Microsoft Learn says the preview is available to eligible customers with Microsoft Defender Suite, Microsoft 365 E5 or Microsoft 365 E7 who do not have an active Microsoft Sentinel workspace. Customers with an active Sentinel workspace should continue using their existing Sentinel experience during this phase; Microsoft advises against disconnecting a production workspace simply to try to qualify for ISOC.
Creating an ISOC workspace and using workspace-dependent capabilities also requires an Azure subscription and the necessary permissions. Eligibility can depend on the tenant and rollout, so a qualifying license alone does not guarantee access.

- HARDWARE PLUS SECURITY SERVICES: FortiGate-60F Firewall Appliance bundled with 1 year of FortiCare Premium and FortiGuard Unified Threat Protection.
- UNIFIED THREAT PROTECTION (UTP): Secures against advanced online threats with comprehensive web filtering and anti-botnet technologies.
- OPTIMIZED FOR MEDIUM-SIZED BUSINESSES: Tailored for businesses needing robust security without the infrastructure of larger enterprises.
- RELIABLE CUSTOMER SUPPORT: FortiCare Premium ensures high-quality support and service continuity.
- EFFECTIVE PROTECTION: Employs advanced filtering technologies to safeguard against sophisticated threats.
Which capabilities require an ISOC workspace
During the preview, Microsoft says case management, workbooks and natural-language playbook generation can be used without an ISOC workspace. Other features depend on creating one:
- Workspace required: UEBA, additional Microsoft and non-Microsoft data ingestion, Content Hub connectors, repositories and threat intelligence.
- Potential additional cost: Data ingestion may incur charges, separate from BlueVoyant’s service fee.
Microsoft’s September 23, 2026 announcement reported 30 days of included Defender data retention during the preview and said that retention would extend to 90 days starting November 15, 2026. It also announced a $2.40-per-GB pay-as-you-go meter for non-Microsoft data through more than 500 connectors, starting October 1, 2026 and subject to regional pricing and other terms. These are Microsoft platform terms, not BlueVoyant deployment prices; check Microsoft’s announcement and current commercial terms for updates.

- 【DPI protection】Deep Packet Inspection with visual dashboards blocks adult/gambling/malicious sites, while SQM and QoS prioritize gaming, calls, and video when bandwidth is tight
- 【OpenWrt & USB 3.0 Expansion】OpenWrt with 1GB DDR4 and 8GB eMMC lets you install plugins and build VPN, ad-blocking or NAS, while USB 3.0 Type‑C connects high-speed storage or 4G/5G dongles
Deployment is distinct from ongoing security operations
BlueVoyant’s guide separates implementation from ongoing monitoring, investigations, incident response and alert disposition, which it says require a separate managed detection and response (MDR) agreement. It also identifies third-party log onboarding, Data Lake configuration and SIEM migration as outside the base deployment scope and subject to separate scoping. Customers should define who owns each activity and what it costs before work begins.
Questions to settle before engaging a deployment partner
The launch materials do not provide enough detail to compare BlueVoyant’s offer with other implementation partners or establish its deployment price. For a meaningful proposal comparison, ask each provider to specify:
Quick Recap
- Assessment deliverables and supported Defender workloads.
- Number of tenants, included engineering hours and the use cases to be delivered.
- Whether workspace setup, third-party data onboarding or Sentinel migration is included or separately scoped.
- Who handles post-deployment monitoring, investigations and response, and under what agreement.
- Customer prerequisites, expected schedule given Microsoft’s rollout, and all service and platform charges.
