For vinyl, choose a speaker that can receive the turntable’s signal: either pair a Bluetooth-transmitting turntable with a Bluetooth speaker, or connect a turntable’s line-level output to powered speakers with an analog input. If you want left-right separation and flexible wired playback, consider a powered stereo bookshelf pair. If portability and a one-box setup matter more, a portable Bluetooth speaker can work. The right fit depends on the connection path and listening setup—not a universal sound-quality ranking.
What Bluetooth speakers work with a turntable?
Bluetooth needs to run from the turntable to the speaker. A Bluetooth transmitter on the turntable sends audio; the speaker must receive Bluetooth audio. A listing that merely says “Bluetooth” may describe receiving, transmitting, or both, so confirm the direction for each device.

For a wired setup, the turntable must provide a line-level output, either directly or through a built-in or external phono preamp. That output can connect to a powered speaker’s compatible analog input. A turntable’s phono-level output generally needs a phono preamp before it can feed a line input.

Choose a setup that suits how you listen
| Setup | Good fit for | What to check | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| One portable Bluetooth speaker | Moving a speaker between rooms or keeping the setup compact | Bluetooth audio reception, power or battery, and whether it has an analog input | One enclosure is not the same arrangement as two speakers placed separately for left-right separation. |
| Powered Bluetooth stereo bookshelf pair | Room listening with separate left and right speakers, plus wired turntable playback | Bluetooth, analog line inputs, turntable line-level output or phono preamp, and speaker wiring | Needs space for two speakers, placement, and an appropriate cable or connection between speakers. |
| Bluetooth turntable and Bluetooth speaker | A simple, cable-free connection from source to speaker | Turntable Bluetooth output and speaker Bluetooth input; codec support at both ends if a particular codec matters | Wireless features vary by turntable. A wired output can be useful as an alternative. |

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Connect a turntable to a Bluetooth speaker
- For wireless playback, confirm signal direction. Check that the turntable transmits Bluetooth audio and the speaker receives it. Follow the devices’ pairing instructions to connect them.
- For wired playback, check the turntable output. Look for a line output or a phono/line selector in the manual or on the rear panel. A built-in switchable preamp, such as the one Sony lists for the PS-LX5BT, can provide a line-level signal when configured appropriately.
- Match the signal to the speaker input. Connect a line-level turntable output to a compatible analog line input on powered speakers. If the turntable supplies only phono-level output, use a suitable phono preamp first.
- Plan the stereo pair’s placement and wiring. Confirm how the two speakers connect to each other, where each will sit, and what cable routing the setup requires. Check the current product documentation for the exact configuration.
Do Bluetooth codecs matter for vinyl?
Codec support matters only for a Bluetooth connection, and a codec must be supported by both the transmitting turntable and receiving speaker to use it. Sony lists SBC, aptX, and aptX Adaptive for the PS-LX5BT; JBL lists aptX HD for the Spinner BT. These specifications identify supported features, but do not establish that a codec will sound better to every listener or in every pairing.

What these product examples do—and do not—establish
The cited manufacturer pages document connection features and product formats. They do not establish which model sounds best, performs best in a particular room, or offers the strongest value. They also do not provide controlled comparative measurements for frequency response, distortion, latency in each pairing, or long-term reliability.
