Then work through a full shutdown, Airplane mode, Device Manager, Windows Update, and your PC maker’s model-specific support. No single driver fix applies to every case.
First identify what is missing
Bluetooth missing from Settings is not proof that the computer has Bluetooth hardware. Microsoft says the device might not have a Bluetooth adapter, or its adapter driver may be missing. If Bluetooth appears in Device Manager but devices will not pair or connect, that is a different problem; see Microsoft’s Bluetooth connection troubleshooting guidance.

To check Bluetooth settings, use Settings > Bluetooth & devices in Windows 11, or Settings > Devices > Bluetooth & other devices in Windows 10. These paths are provided by Microsoft’s Bluetooth settings guidance. If the control is absent, continue with the checks below rather than assuming a particular cause.

Try these checks in order
1. Perform a full shutdown
- Hold Shift while selecting Shut down from the Windows power menu.
- After the PC turns off, wait one minute.
- Turn it on and check Device Manager and Bluetooth settings again.
Microsoft includes this full-shutdown procedure in its Bluetooth disappearance troubleshooting steps.

2. Make sure Airplane mode is off
Check Windows’ quick settings or network settings and turn off Airplane mode if it is enabled. Then look again for Bluetooth.
3. Check Device Manager for the adapter
- Open Device Manager from the Windows search box.
- Look for a Bluetooth category or an adapter entry whose name includes “Bluetooth” or “Radio.”
- If an adapter is listed, right-click it and select Update driver, then follow the prompts.
If the update does not resolve the problem, Microsoft’s driver guidance says you can uninstall the listed adapter and restart the PC; Windows will attempt to reinstall its driver. If the problem began after a driver update, use the adapter’s Properties > Driver > Roll Back Driver option if available. See Microsoft’s instructions for updating Bluetooth drivers.

If no Bluetooth adapter is listed, that does not by itself prove the hardware is broken or establish a universal Device Manager action that will make it appear. Continue with Windows Update and the PC maker’s model-specific support.
4. Check Windows Update
Install available Windows updates, then restart and check again. In Windows 11, also check optional updates: they can include manufacturer firmware. If Windows Update offers no relevant update, use the PC maker’s support page for firmware intended for your exact model. Do not install generic BIOS or UEFI firmware.

- What Can I do if the Bluetooth adapter can not work?: Ensure there are no other Bluetooth devices installed on the computer. If there are, disable all existing Bluetooth devices in "Device Manager", then insert the adapter and try again. (For detailed information please read the user manual)
5. Get the driver from the PC maker
If Windows reports that the best driver is already installed, or Bluetooth remains missing, look up the computer’s exact model on its manufacturer’s official support site. Select the correct Windows version and install only a driver or firmware package listed for that model. Microsoft notes that a newer driver may be available from the manufacturer even when Windows does not find one. Its driver instructions cover update, reinstall, rollback, and manufacturer downloads.
If Bluetooth still does not appear
Run the Windows 11 troubleshooter
On Windows 11, open the Get Help app and run its Bluetooth troubleshooter. Microsoft recommends it for Bluetooth disappearance and connection issues. The steps are described in its Bluetooth disappearance guide.

Ask the manufacturer to check model-specific detection
Contact the PC maker if the adapter is still absent after these checks, especially when you cannot confirm that the model includes Bluetooth. Microsoft says driver or firmware issues from the PC manufacturer are typical causes of Bluetooth hardware errors and recommends the manufacturer for model-specific recovery steps. Share the computer’s exact model and Windows version so support can identify applicable drivers, firmware, or hardware checks.
Use a USB adapter only if built-in Bluetooth is unavailable
If the computer truly has no usable Bluetooth adapter, a compatible USB Bluetooth adapter may add Bluetooth capability. Check compatibility with your computer and Windows version before buying. A USB adapter is not a remedy for an incorrect internal driver, a firmware issue, or a faulty built-in adapter.

Windows 10 support status
Microsoft states that Windows 10 support ended on October 14, 2025. This is lifecycle information, not evidence that Bluetooth must stop working on a Windows 10 PC. Microsoft’s Bluetooth instructions cover Windows 10 and Windows 11, but follow the menu path for your version. See Microsoft’s Windows 10 support notice.
