Bluehost is the better fit if you specifically want to build on WordPress and are comfortable making decisions about the site and its setup. Neither is a universal winner: Squarespace bundles the building workflow, while Bluehost sells hosting for a WordPress-based site. Their prices and features are not directly interchangeable.
How Bluehost and Squarespace differ
Squarespace describes its service as an all-in-one website builder and content management system that includes hosting and security. Its feature set includes tools for selling, services, scheduling, invoicing, memberships, donations, email campaigns, and analytics. The appeal is a single managed environment for building a site and handling common business tasks. Squarespace’s comparison page describes these capabilities and its own ease-of-use and design strengths; those are provider descriptions, not independent usability findings.

Bluehost’s current offering is organized around WordPress hosting, with tiers that specify website counts, storage, and traffic allowances, as well as separate WooCommerce hosting plans. That means the practical choice is between Squarespace’s hosted builder and a WordPress site hosted by Bluehost—not simply between two equivalent hosting plans. Bluehost’s homepage lists its current hosting offers.
Which one fits your project?
Choose Squarespace for a template-led business or portfolio site
Squarespace is a strong fit to consider when you want to select a design, build within a hosted editor, and keep common site and business functions on one platform. It is aimed at portfolios, commerce, services, and marketing use cases. This may suit a creative business or straightforward small-business site that does not require a WordPress-specific setup.
#1 Best Overall
Consider Squarespace for a compact shop or service business
Its comparison page lists product sales, shipping, in-person point-of-sale tools, multichannel selling, scheduling, invoicing, and related functions. Check that the exact feature and its fees are available on the plan you intend to buy; a feature listed by the provider does not establish that every plan includes it on the same terms.
Choose Bluehost when WordPress is a requirement
If you want a WordPress-based site, Bluehost offers a hosting route built around WordPress, plus a separate WooCommerce offering for online stores. This route means choosing and configuring a WordPress site rather than relying solely on a single hosted site-building workflow. Decide how much setup and ongoing configuration you are willing to take on before choosing.

How to compare the prices fairly
There is no neutral like-for-like total cost established by the available provider pages: the services bundle different features, and their displayed promotions do not align. The figures below are company-published offers, not a stable checkout quote or independent market comparison.
| Source and date | Published price information | What the figure means |
|---|---|---|
| Squarespace comparison page, accessed October 7, 2026 | Squarespace from $19/month; Bluehost from $3.99/month in the first year, then $9.99/month | Figures shown on that comparison page; they should not be treated as a current, equivalent quote for both services. |
| Bluehost homepage, accessed October 7, 2026 | WordPress Starter $4.99/month; Business $7.99/month; High Performance $10.99/month; separate eCommerce Essentials offer from $15.99/month | Bluehost labels its displayed hosting promotion as applying to the first 36-month term. These are not established renewal rates. |
| Bluehost comparison page, data dated December 2025 | Separate comparison-table prices and plan details | Promotional prices apply to the first term; renewal rates vary by provider and are shown at checkout. This is dated provider material. |
Squarespace says its current Basic, Core, Plus, and Advanced plans can be billed monthly or annually; annual billing lowers the average monthly cost, and a new custom domain may be included for the first year. Domain prices depend on the top-level domain, and future renewal prices may change. Check Squarespace’s live pricing page and checkout for costs that apply to your location, billing cycle, and selected plan.

Before deciding, compare the actual checkout totals and verify the costs that matter to your project:
- The first-term price and the renewal price, including the length of the introductory term.
- Whether the plan includes the commerce, contributor, storage, backup, or other feature you need.
- Domain registration or renewal, email, payment processing, transaction fees, and optional add-ons.
- Whether monthly or annual billing changes the total you will pay.
Can you move from Bluehost to Squarespace?
Keeping a domain and moving a website are separate tasks. You can keep a domain registered with Bluehost and connect it to Squarespace using DNS records, or transfer an eligible domain; Squarespace’s domain-connection guidance explains the connection process.

For site content, Squarespace says you can save content and products from a Bluehost site for transfer to a new Squarespace site, or hire a Squarespace Expert for hands-on help. That guidance does not promise an automatic, complete, lossless migration of an entire site. Review the content and products you need to move and plan for a separate migration process.

The available provider comparison material does not establish an objective performance winner. Bluehost’s comparison page includes provider claims and refers to a third-party test, but does not provide enough independent, comparable methodology here to support a definitive head-to-head conclusion. Choose based on workflow, required features, and verified costs rather than assuming one service will be faster or more reliable.
