Bluehost advertises $65 or more per qualified sale on its official affiliate page, with a 30-day cookie window. That is a starting public figure for individual sales, not a forecast of monthly or annual income. What you actually earn depends on how many purchases meet Bluehost’s qualification rules, the commission rate shown in your own affiliate dashboard, and the payout terms that apply to your account. The sections below explain each of those conditions so you can estimate realistic revenue before you build content around the program.
What the $65 figure does and does not promise
Bluehost’s affiliate page reads: “Join one of the world’s most trusted hosting providers to start earning $65 or more per qualified sale.” The phrase “starting” and “or more” signal a headline rate, not a guaranteed amount for every affiliate. The governing Newfold Digital Affiliate Agreement says commissions are calculated at the rates listed in the affiliate dashboard, so the rate you see after you join is the number that matters for your own calculations.
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
Bluehost’s public materials do not publish average affiliate income, conversion rates, or an earnings distribution across participants. Any figure you read elsewhere claiming a typical monthly payout for Bluehost affiliates is not supported by the company’s own published terms.

The agreement defines a qualified purchase as a purchase of provider services with a term of at least one month, subject to a list of exclusions. The following purchases can be excluded or withheld:
#1 Best Overall
- Purchases by a customer associated with certain Bluehost partners or programs, as defined in the agreement.
- Purchases that were not tracked properly through your referral link.
- Purchases by a customer who is not in good standing, or purchases that are refunded.
- Purchases linked to suspected fraud.
- Purchases affected by excessive cancellation rates.
- Purchases made more than 30 days after the referral click.
The provider reserves discretion over qualification and withholding. In practice, that means a sale that looks like a referral on your dashboard can still be rejected if it falls into one of these categories. An affiliate who builds a strategy around a high volume of low-quality or short-lived signups should expect a larger share of commissions to be withheld.
How the 30-day cookie window works
The affiliate page advertises a 30-day cookie window. The agreement states that the window was changed from 90 days on March 30, 2023. The practical effect is that a visitor who clicks your link and buys more than 30 days later does not generate a commission for you, even if the purchase is otherwise legitimate. Content that targets people who are still comparing hosts performs best with this window in mind, because a reader who bookmarks your post and returns months later will not be credited.
Commission rates, one-time payments, and withholding
A January 30, 2026 update to Bluehost’s affiliate FAQ article describes a one-time commission for qualified purchases of 12- or 36-month hosting packages. It also says the provider may withhold or reject commissions for suspected fraud or high cancellation rates. Because that article is a company explainer rather than the contract, treat its description of plan types as a guide and confirm the exact rate and eligible plans in your dashboard.
The agreement also says Bluehost may change its terms without prior notice, though it says it will try to notify affiliates in advance. Check the agreement and the dashboard before any calculation you plan to publish, and recheck them periodically.
Hypothetical earnings at the advertised starting amount
The table below is simple arithmetic based only on the advertised $65 starting commission. It is not evidence of typical results, approval rates, or conversion rates. It also shows gross commission before taxes, payment-platform fees, or any other costs, and it assumes every sale qualifies.
| Qualified sales (hypothetical) | Gross commission at $65 each |
|---|---|
| 10 | $650 |
| 50 | $3,250 |
| 100 | $6,500 |
Your actual number will be lower whenever sales are excluded, refunded, or fall outside the cookie window, and it will differ if your dashboard lists a different rate for the plans your readers buy.
Rank #3
When commissions are paid
The agreement says commissions are generally processed approximately 45 to 70 days after the end of the month in which they accrue. That range applies unless a third-party affiliate-platform agreement controls payment, and the agreement notes that payment methods and minimum or maximum payment amounts may depend on the platform.
Bluehost’s affiliate payout explainer, updated November 11, 2025, gives more specific guidance: payment roughly 45 days after month-end, a $10 minimum, PayPal or direct deposit, and a 2% PayPal processing fee capped at $20. These are dated company-published details, so confirm them in your dashboard before you plan cash flow around them.
Checking your current payout terms
- Open the current affiliate agreement at https://assets.web.com/legal/English/NewfoldAffiliateAgreement.pdf and note the processing window and any platform clause.
- Log in to your affiliate dashboard and confirm the commission rate listed for each plan type.
- Check the minimum payout threshold, the payment methods available to your account, and any fees charged on each method.
- Record the date of each payout so you can compare it with the processing window when you forecast revenue.
Separate Bluehost programs to keep distinct
Bluehost runs other referral and partner offers. Confusing them with the publisher affiliate program is the most common reason readers overestimate what they can earn.
Rank #4
Agency Partner Program
Bluehost’s Agency Partner Program is separate from the affiliate program and is aimed at agencies that build websites for clients. The official page at https://www.bluehost.com/partnerprogram lists starting terms of 75% of a qualified sale, capped at $500 per sale, and says the terms vary by agreement. That $500 cap belongs to this program only. It should not be read as the ordinary affiliate payout, and agency partners usually reach the program through a different audience and application process.
Refer a Friend
Refer a Friend is a customer referral offer, not a publisher program. Bluehost’s help article, updated August 5, 2026, at https://www.bluehost.com/help/article/refer-a-friend-program says a customer can receive a $25 Visa prepaid card for a referred friend’s purchase. Existing customers who refer others are not the same audience as publishers, so this offer does not change your affiliate earnings.

The affiliate agreement sets conditions on how you promote Bluehost. Read the full text, but the main obligations are:
Best Value
- Disclose the compensation clearly and conspicuously, close to any claim about Bluehost and on every page that contains a Bluehost link or reference.
- Make the disclosure evident without the reader needing to scroll or click.
- Use only promotional materials Bluehost has approved.
- Do not run search engine marketing that uses Bluehost terms without written approval.
- Follow the agreement’s limits on coupon use.
These summaries are a plain-language reading of the agreement, not legal advice. If you plan to run paid campaigns or publish coupons, read the agreement in full first.
Is the Bluehost affiliate program a good fit for your site?
Bluehost is a natural match for content aimed at readers who are actively choosing a host, comparing WordPress hosting, or building their first website. Those readers are close to a purchase decision, which is the context in which referral links tend to convert. Strong anchor text includes “Bluehost affiliate program,” “Bluehost hosting affiliate program,” and “Bluehost affiliate commission.”
Place the link in your signup or eligibility section, and state that approval and program terms apply before you send readers to sign up through Bluehost’s affiliate page. Do not describe any link as guaranteed to be accepted, and do not present your tracked link as available until you have it from your own dashboard.
Recommended Free Tools
Before you commit editorial space to the program, compare it with other hosting affiliate programs on the same terms: commission basis, qualification rules, payout mechanics, promotion limits, and how well each host fits your readers’ needs. Bluehost’s public materials give enough detail to assess its headline and conditions, but they do not provide a competitor comparison, so you will need to gather that evidence separately before claiming any program pays the most.
For reference, Bluehost’s broader program overview is at https://www.bluehost.com/programs/.
Bottom line on earnings
Bluehost’s $65 starting commission per qualified sale is a useful headline, but your income is the product of qualified sales, the dashboard rate, the 30-day window, withholding rules, and payout timing. Model your revenue with conservative assumptions, verify the current terms, and treat any sales volume as something you have to earn through relevant content rather than something the program promises.
