How well does it blend?
RTINGS’ review, published March 20, 2024 and modified October 9, 2024, rates the blender highly for multipurpose use. Its testing found strong performance with fibrous ingredients and ice. Those findings are useful evidence for the machine’s strengths, but they are review-specific results rather than a guarantee for every recipe or batch.
Fibrous ingredients
In RTINGS’ fibrous-ingredient testing, a larger batch reduced splashing and sloshing. In that test, the Whole Juice preset produced a smoother texture than the Smoothie preset. This is a practical reason to follow the recipe’s batch guidance and choose a preset based on the desired result rather than assuming that one program always produces the smoothest blend.

RTINGS reports that the blender crushed ice well. The current product page includes an Ice Crush preset, but the manufacturer’s listed feature and RTINGS’ test result are separate kinds of evidence.

How much can you actually blend at once?
RTINGS reports a 90-ounce (2,662 ml) nominal capacity for the main WildSide+ jar, but a blending capacity of 36 ounces (about 1,065 ml). The jar’s headline volume should not be treated as usable blended output. If you regularly make larger batches, plan around the 36-ounce blending-capacity figure or expect to work in successive batches.

RTINGS also reports dimensions of 15.2 inches high, 7.1 inches wide, and 7.9 inches deep, with a weight of 7.3 pounds. Check the available counter and cabinet space against your own setup, especially if you intend to store the blender under a low shelf.
What are the main drawbacks?
RTINGS’ reviewer noted several practical concerns: the jar wobbles on the base, the button covering feels as though it might peel, and the buttons feel mushy. The review also reports that the machine has no mechanism preventing operation when the jar or lid is absent. These are reviewer observations, not claims about every individual unit.

RTINGS describes the jar as BPA-free plastic and dishwasher-safe, but says the manual does not establish that dishwasher guidance and does not specify how to clean the lid. Treat the reviewer’s description as distinct from manufacturer care instructions; consult the manual for your exact unit before putting components in a dishwasher.

Blendtec’s current product listing states a two-year warranty and warns that commercial use voids the warranty. The listing says: “NOT FOR COMMERCIAL USE – If used commercially, the warranty will be voided.” This is a home-use blender, not an appropriate choice if you need coverage for commercial operation.

The available Classic Series manual is dated 2014. It describes warranty coverage for the motor base and jar assembly, including moving jar parts, and says the period begins on the purchase date. Its exclusions include cosmetic damage, abuse or unreasonable use, accidents, tampering, unendorsed accessories, unauthorized service, modifications, and commercial use. It also limits coverage to products sold by Blendtec or authorized dealers.
Because that manual is old and terms can depend on product, purchase channel, and country, check the current warranty applicable to your own unit and retain proof of purchase. Do not assume the older manual settles the terms for every ES3.
What if an ES3 jar leaks?
Blendtec’s official answer on its FourSide Jar support page says, “The seals are not able to be replaced.” For a leaking jar, the company recommends contacting customer service to check warranty coverage before purchasing a replacement jar.

Overall, the evidence supports the Total Blender Classic as a capable multipurpose home blender, but the usable batch size is substantially below the jar’s nominal volume. Its preset-driven feature set and reported blending strengths must be balanced against reviewer-noted build and safety concerns, the warranty boundary, and the need to verify ES3 jar compatibility directly.
