Subsonic is a compact Core 6v6 map built around a choice: cross the exposed perimeter, take cover in the central Hangar, or fight through the close-quarters rooms north of it. Each route has a different risk—Hangar height comes with exposure, while the Briefing rooms trade long sightlines for protected, close-range encounters.
How Subsonic is laid out
Activision describes Subsonic as a small bomber-team training facility at a military base under fire from nearby Scud. One aircraft sits in the central Hangar; another is down near a crater and overturned truck by the runway. The named points of interest are the west APCs spawn, Impact, Hangar, and east Debris spawn.

The key route decision is whether to move along the damaged, exposed perimeter or cut through the Hangar. Six entry points connect to the Hangar, including two main bay doors operated by separate control panels. Smaller rooms north of the Hangar offer another way to move under overhead cover.

| Route or position | What it offers | Main tradeoff |
|---|---|---|
| Hangar and parked aircraft | Elevated positions and sightlines toward the main spawns and open bay doors. | The aircraft is exposed, and crossing the Hangar puts you in its open space. |
| Impact and the downed aircraft | Lower-profile cover beneath the wing and protection as you move around the aircraft’s body. | Climbing onto the aircraft creates an attack angle but leaves you more exposed. |
| Briefing room and connected rooms | Overhead cover and a route suited to close-range engagements. | Fights are concentrated at close range rather than across the open Hangar. |
| Perimeter | Movement along the map’s outer edge using the aircraft, truck, crater edge, rubble, and scattered objects for cover. | Cover is uneven, and movement across exposed stretches can leave you vulnerable. |
Contest the Hangar without lingering
The parked aircraft can give you height and a view toward spawns and open doors, but Activision’s guide also warns that the position is exposed. Use the staircase or vault onto the aircraft when the elevated angle is useful, then limit how long you remain visible. If opponents are holding the bay, one of the other Hangar entries or the covered rooms north of it may be a safer approach than crossing the open floor.

- Developed by Treyarch and Raven, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is a spy action thriller set in the early 90s, a period of transition and upheaval in global politics, characterized by the end of the Cold War and the rise of the United States as a single superpower.
- This is signature Black Ops across a cinematic single-player Campaign, a best-in-class Multiplayer experience, and the epic return of Round-Based Zombies.
- The Black Ops 6 Campaign provides dynamic moment-to-moment gameplay that includes a variety of play spaces with blockbuster set pieces and action-packed moments, high-stakes heists, and cloak-and-dagger spy activity.

- Black Ops 6 also marks the epic return of Round-Based Zombies, the fan-favorite mode where players will take down hordes of the undead in two brand-new maps at launch. Post-launch, players can look forward to even more exciting maps and groundbreaking experiences dropping into both Multiplayer and Zombies.
Work around the aircraft at Impact
Use the downed aircraft near the crater as low cover: stay beneath its wing or move around its body rather than assuming the top is safe. Climbing on top can provide a brief attack angle, but it gives up the protection of the lower position. The overturned truck, crater edge, and nearby rubble add other pieces of cover along this route.
Take the Briefing rooms for close fights
The Briefing room and connected rooms provide overhead cover away from the Hangar’s most exposed space. Activision recommends shotguns or SMGs for this close-quarters route. It is a route choice, not a guarantee of an advantage: expect engagements at short range and use the connecting rooms to avoid spending unnecessary time in open sightlines.

Use the Hangar doors as timed openings
Each main bay door has its own control panel and closes after a short interval. A red light signals that a door is opening or closing, so watch the indicator before committing to a crossing. As the official guide puts it, “Control panels offer access through the main bay doors, so long as you make it inside before they close again.” (Call of Duty Subsonic map guide by Dan Noel, published October 23, 2024.)
Door timing affects both access and attacks: coordinate a crossing with the opening rather than arriving after it shuts. Activision’s Intel Card also suggests timing a Strategic Bomber attack on an outer lane as the nearest bay door is about to close. That is a situational publisher recommendation, not a universally optimal tactic.

Explosives around cover and rooms
Activision recommends Impact Grenades near the aircraft, vehicles, rubble, and the rooms north of the Hangar. The publisher’s Intel Card suggests Scavenger and Danger Close to replenish them. These are map-specific suggestions from the official guide, not independently tested best-in-class choices.
Publisher loadout examples
The official guide provides example builds for the PP-919 SMG, XM4 assault rifle, and ASG-89 shotgun. Treat them as publisher suggestions to consider for different engagement ranges, not as proven best builds or a promise that one weapon will outperform the others on Subsonic.
