Bitcoin’s October downside map spans two very different kinds of outlook: near-term chart levels around $81,000–$84,000, and much lower cycle-bottom forecasts from named analysts and a scenario relayed by CoinGecko. None is a guaranteed floor. The lower forecasts range from about $57,000 to the high-$40,000s and $38,000–$39,000, but they were made at different times and rely on different reasoning—not a shared model or consensus.
What Bitcoin levels are analysts watching first?
October technical analysis puts the first areas to watch in the low-$80,000s. These are chart references: if price reaches one, it may attract attention, but the level does not ensure buyers will defend it.

| Source and date | Level or range | What the analysis says |
|---|---|---|
| 21shares, October 2026 | $81,000 | First support in its technical map. Its constructive scenario depends in part on Bitcoin holding this level. |
| XTB, October 2026 | $83,000–$84,000 | Important near-term support. XTB says a sustained move below $83,000 could raise the risk of a move toward $80,000; a recovery above $86,500 would improve the technical structure. |
| 21shares, October 2026 | About $78,000 and $77,000 | The 50-week average is around $78,000, followed by the 50-day average near $77,000. |
| 21shares, October 2026 | $73,500 | Short-term realized price, a further reference level in its downside map. |
| 21shares, October 2026 | About $71,000–$71,300 | The article first identifies a break around $71,000 at the 200-day average as a point that would reopen the bear-market-bounce debate; its later scenario text uses $71,300 as the level that would put bears back in control. These are approximate, differing figures, not a single precise threshold. |
These technical levels describe possible stages in a decline, not predictions that Bitcoin will stop at each one. They also answer a different question from a cycle-bottom forecast: a chart level analysts watch in the near term is not necessarily their estimate of the lowest price for an entire market cycle.
How far down do the broader forecasts go?
The cited longer-horizon views are substantially more bearish than the October chart levels. They should be read as attributed forecasts or scenarios, not as a consensus range or a ranking by probability.

| Forecaster or source | Downside view | Date and context | What to keep in mind |
|---|---|---|---|
| Michael Terpin, as reported by CoinDesk | A low near $57,000 sometime in October | CoinDesk reported the forecast on April 28, 2026, months before October. Terpin also did not expect a new all-time high in 2026. | This was Terpin’s view, not a consensus call. CoinDesk reported that analysts disagreed over whether the February low had already marked the bottom. |
| Peter Brandt, in a Cointelegraph interview | Below $50,000, possibly in the high-$40,000s | Reported July 20, 2026. Brandt also forecast an October 4 bottom. | October 4 had passed by October 9, 2026. The cited reporting does not establish whether that date or his price outlook matched the realized market low; this remains an earlier forecast, not a confirmed bottom. |
| NYDIG scenario, as summarized by CoinGecko | About $38,000–$39,000 by October if history repeats exactly | Included in CoinGecko’s 2026 analyst roundup. | This is a conditional scenario relayed by CoinGecko, not a certainty or a target independently verified here against an NYDIG publication. CoinGecko also describes less severe scenarios and a wide range of forecasts. |
The gap between these views signals uncertainty. The sources do not provide a common method for comparing their assumptions or assigning relative probabilities, so treating the figures as equally reliable targets—or combining them into one forecast—would be misleading.
What could change Bitcoin’s path?
The October commentary points to several conditions that could affect the downside case or the chance of a recovery. None independently determines what Bitcoin will do next.

Interest rates and bond yields
21shares’ downside scenario includes a Federal Reserve rate hike and rising long-term yields; its more constructive scenario depends partly on yields stabilizing. XTB also identifies Fed developments and Treasury yields as near-term catalysts. These are scenario conditions in the cited analyses, not proof that a particular policy or yield move will cause a specific Bitcoin price.

21shares says its constructive case depends in part on continued spot Bitcoin ETF inflows, while stalled flows feature in its downside scenario. XTB also tracks consistency in spot ETF flows. Separately, XTB reports that seven-day average Bitcoin inflows from medium-sized participants to Binance fell by more than 36% from mid-August, and Coinbase Prime inflows fell by around 15% over the same comparison period. Those flow observations do not establish that selling pressure has ended.

Risk appetite and employment data
CryptoSlate’s October 7 analysis treats weak employment as ambiguous: softer hiring might strengthen expectations of easier monetary policy, but it might also signal weaker growth and less appetite for risky assets. That is an interpretation of competing possible effects, not demonstrated evidence that employment data caused a particular Bitcoin move. The analysis does not include the fund-flow, positioning, and yield data needed to distinguish those explanations.
Whether price holds support
Price behavior around the October support areas is itself part of the cited scenarios. 21shares says its more constructive case depends on holding $81,000; its bearish discussion points to a break around $71,000–$71,300 as significant. XTB says a sustained break below $83,000 could raise the risk of a move toward $80,000. These are conditional chart assessments, not promises about what follows a break or a hold.

Does “Uptober” mean Bitcoin should rise?
No. “Uptober” is market slang based on seasonal optimism, not a rule that predicts October’s return. Even the historical figures cited in the October commentary do not point to a guaranteed outcome.

| Source | Historical observation reported | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| 21shares, October 2026 | October closed higher in 10 of the previous 13 years, with an average gain near 20%. | 21shares attributes the statistic to 21shares and CoinGlass; the underlying calculation and return methodology were not independently verified. The same article notes that October 2025 broke the streak and Q4 2025 fell 23%. |
| XTB, October 2026 | The first three days of October averaged a 0.66% Bitcoin decline in the cited historical data. | XTB attributes the data to CryptoQuant. This short window is not comparable to a full-month return statistic. |
| 21shares and XTB, October 2026 | 21shares reports Bitcoin gained about 6% in September 2026; XTB reports a 6.4% gain and contrasts it with a historical average September decline of around 4%. | The figures are reported by separate publishers and should not be merged into a single seasonal forecast. |
21shares cautions that “Past performance is not a reliable indicator of future results.” Historical tendencies can provide context, but they do not establish whether Bitcoin will rise or fall this October.

How to read the outlook without mistaking it for a floor
- Separate time horizons: the $81,000–$84,000 areas are near-term technical references, while the much lower figures are cycle forecasts or conditional scenarios.
- Keep attribution attached: Terpin’s October call, Brandt’s earlier forecast, and the NYDIG scenario summarized by CoinGecko are distinct views, not market consensus.
- Watch conditions, not just numbers: ETF flows, yields, monetary-policy expectations, risk appetite, and price response around support are factors the cited analysts discuss, but none is a standalone signal.
- Treat dates as part of a forecast: Brandt’s October 4 call was made in July and had passed by October 9; the cited account does not confirm the market’s realized low.
With no shared methodology or probability estimates across these sources, the responsible conclusion is a range of conditional possibilities—not a single defensible answer to how low Bitcoin must go.
