Tom’s Guide’s review found comfortable headphones with useful ANC and a strong battery result, but also criticized the sound as flat and the call quality as disappointing. At $149.99 on Beyerdynamic’s North American product page, they make the most sense if endurance and customization matter more to you than lively sound or clear calls.
What do the AVENTHO Y headphones offer?
The AVENTHO Y is a wireless, closed-back over-ear headphone with Bluetooth 6.0, USB-C charging, multipoint connectivity for two devices, and support for SBC and AAC codecs. Beyerdynamic’s app provides ANC and equalizer controls. The manufacturer also identifies the battery and ear cushions as replaceable components.

Beyerdynamic’s North American product page lists the Liquid Black model at $149.99 and also shows Blue Fusion, Peach Blush, and Soft Jade. Retail prices and availability can change. The official listed weight is 316 g.
How long does the battery last with ANC?
The 90-hour headline is not an ANC-on runtime. Beyerdynamic lists more than 90 hours with ANC off and more than 60 hours with ANC enabled. Its Help Center separately describes up to 90 hours without ANC. Those are manufacturer figures, not a guarantee for every volume level or use pattern.
#1 Best Overall
- Signature beyerdynamic sound from 45 mm dynamic drivers in a closed-back, foldable over-ear design
- Up to 90 hours of battery life (60 hours with ANC on). A 5-minute fast charge adds 6 hours of playtime
- Active noise cancelling with transparency mode, so you can tune the world out or stay aware of your surroundings
- Bluetooth 6.0 with multipoint: pair two devices and switch seamlessly. SBC and AAC codecs, up to 20 m range
- Built to last with a replaceable battery, interchangeable ear pads and a 5-band EQ in the free beyerdynamic app
Tom’s Guide reported about 50 hours of playback before the headphones reached 5% battery in its own test, with ANC enabled and music playing at 50% volume. That test offers useful context, but it is one reviewer’s result under stated conditions rather than an independent laboratory measurement or universal expectation.
How well do the noise cancellation and sound perform?
ANC
Tom’s Guide’s reviewer found the ANC effective indoors and outdoors. During testing, it reduced sounds including a boiling kettle, mechanical-keyboard typing, and nearby conversation. These are the reviewer’s observations, not a quantified noise-reduction result.

Music
The same review describes the overall sound as flat and lacking openness. The app’s equalizer can help tailor the presentation, but EQ customization does not erase the reviewer’s central criticism: listeners seeking an open, lively default sound may be underwhelmed.

Calls
Call quality was another weak point in the review. The reviewer characterized the audio as scratchy and distant, so the AVENTHO Y is less compelling if clear voice calls are a priority.
Rank #3
- Pairs with any Bluetooth device - iOS, Android, laptop - and recharges over USB-C.
- Silence the commute: Active Noise Cancelling shuts the world out so your music stays front and center.
- Up to 60h playtime: up to 60 hours per charge - days of listening between top-ups.
- Personalized sound: companion-app sound personalization tunes the signature to your hearing.
- In the box: AVENTHO 100 and USB-C charging cable. Foldable design packs flat for travel. Engineered in Germany.
Are they comfortable and practical for everyday use?
Tom’s Guide praised the comfort and color selection. The over-ear, closed-back design and two-device multipoint support suit everyday listening across devices, while USB-C handles charging. Replaceable batteries and interchangeable ear cushions may also help with upkeep over time, though component availability depends on region and stock.
How does the AVENTHO Y compare with other AVENTHO models?
Beyerdynamic’s own comparison frames the range by fit and intended use. Its runtime figures below are manufacturer-published claims for ANC-enabled use, not results from an independent head-to-head test.

| Model | Fit and emphasis | ANC-on battery claim | Weight or distinguishing feature |
|---|---|---|---|
| AVENTHO Y | Over-ear; long battery life and customization | More than 60 hours | 316 g; replaceable battery |
| AVENTHO 100 | On-ear; compact design | Up to 40 hours | 220 g |
| AVENTHO 200 | Over-ear; versatile daily use and calls | Up to 40 hours | Wear detection |
| AVENTHO 300 | Immersive-audio features | Up to 50 hours | Dolby Atmos and head tracking |
This is Beyerdynamic’s positioning of its own models, not an independent ranking. The AVENTHO Y is the endurance-focused choice in that lineup; the 100 emphasizes compact on-ear portability, the 200 daily-use features, and the 300 immersive audio.

Who should buy the Beyerdynamic AVENTHO Y?
- Consider them if you want effective ANC, comfortable over-ear headphones, multipoint, app EQ, and long battery life.
- Look elsewhere if you want a more open or lively sound without relying on EQ, or if dependable call clarity is important.
- Check the runtime claim carefully: the headline 90 hours is for ANC off; the manufacturer lists more than 60 hours with ANC enabled.
Overall, the AVENTHO Y’s battery, comfort, and ANC are meaningful strengths, but the reported sound and call shortcomings keep them from being an easy recommendation for everyone. At the listed North American price, they are best suited to listeners who value endurance and customization above those trade-offs.
