BetRivers App Guide: How It Works, Eligibility, and State Differences

BetRivers combines a mobile sportsbook with casino play in some states. Features, eligibility, location checks and payment options depend on your jurisdiction.

BetRivers is a mobile sportsbook operated by Rush Street Interactive; in some states, its app also offers online casino games. What you can access, how you qualify to wager, and which payment methods are available depend on your location. Before signing up, check the BetRivers page and rules for the state where you plan to bet.

What the BetRivers app does

BetRivers offers sportsbook features through free Android and iOS apps. The operator describes live odds and in-game betting, and some state versions also list live sports streams. In certain jurisdictions, the BetRivers-branded service includes online casino play; it is not a universal feature. The Michigan page describes both sportsbook and casino, while the reviewed New York and Colorado pages describe sportsbook. State pages also describe loyalty levels, points, bonus offers and Bonus Bank tools for tracking or managing bonus money. The precise features and offer terms vary, so read the rules attached to an offer rather than treating rewards as guaranteed value. The Iowa page describes live odds and sports streams. [c4]

Who can register and wager

Registration and permission to wager are not the same thing. BetRivers’ New York site says, “You are welcome to register from any state in the U.S., but must be 21+ years old and physically located in New York to wager.” The reviewed state pages specify a minimum age of 21, but restrictions and eligibility rules are jurisdiction-specific. Check the current terms and regulator information for your state before creating an account or attempting a bet. [c7] [c1] [c2] [c3]

You must also be physically within a permitted jurisdiction when placing a wager. State rules can restrict wagering in particular locations; the reviewed Colorado material notes restricted areas, and New York material refers to self-exclusion restrictions. Do not assume that an account that can be opened—or an app that loads—means betting is allowed where you are. [c2] [c3]

How location verification works

In the reviewed onboarding flows, location verification is required to wager. BetRivers describes mobile location services and GeoGuard, while its help material also discusses browser-based checks for desktop use. The available pages do not establish minimum supported operating-system versions, so check the current app-store listing for device compatibility. [c1] [c2] [c5]

If a location check fails

BetRivers’ geolocation help guide identifies disabled location services or unavailable Wi-Fi, VPNs, proxies, remote-access tools, and unreliable device location signals as possible causes. It also identifies ChromeOS, wired Ethernet, border areas and some restricted locations as potential limitations. These are troubleshooting points from the help guide; consult the current guide if the app or interface has changed. [c5]

  • Check that location services and the app’s location permission are enabled.
  • Turn off VPN, proxy or remote-access connections while checking your location.
  • If you are using a browser, follow the current help instructions for browser location permissions and network setup.
  • If you are near a jurisdiction border or in a restricted location, the service may not be able to verify that you are eligible to wager.

Deposits, withdrawals, and account tools

State pages list differing combinations of bank-transfer services, debit or credit cards, PayPal, BetRivers Play+, Venmo, Apple Pay and PayNearMe. Availability depends on the state and account. Check the cashier in the state-specific app for the methods currently offered to you, along with any applicable transaction terms; do not assume a method shown for another state will be available. [c1] [c2] [c3]

New York’s page lists iRush Rewards, Bonus Bank, Bonus Store and RushPay. Michigan and Colorado also describe loyalty points, bonus money and bonus-store rewards. These are operator-described features, not evidence that wagering will be profitable. Review the current offer rules, eligibility conditions and any restrictions before using a bonus. [c1] [c2] [c3]

How to evaluate the version available to you

If you are deciding whether the app fits your needs, use the state page and in-app information to check the product you can actually use rather than relying on a general feature list.

  • Product: Is the local service sportsbook-only, or does it also offer casino games?
  • Eligibility: What age, location, restricted-area and self-exclusion rules apply?
  • Sports features: Which live odds, in-game betting and streaming features are listed locally?
  • Payments: Which deposit and withdrawal options appear in your state’s cashier?
  • Rewards: What are the actual terms for loyalty points, bonus money and promotions?
  • Safety and support: Which regulator, help contact and responsible-gambling resources does the state page provide?

Responsible gambling and local help

Use the state-specific BetRivers page to find the applicable regulator information, support contact, self-exclusion conditions and responsible-gambling resources; published helpline details differ by jurisdiction. Set limits that fit your finances and do not wager money you cannot afford to lose. If gambling is causing harm, use the local support and self-exclusion options listed for your state.
