For most WooCommerce stores, BlogVault is the strongest all-around choice because the WooCommerce-focused tier is reported to include off-site storage, per-order capture, staging, one-click restore and an emergency restore route. Choose Jetpack Backup when real-time capture is your first priority, UpdraftPlus when you need low-cost control of your own cloud storage, and Duplicator Pro when migration or cloning matters more than continuous order protection.
The right backup is not simply a copy of WordPress files. It must capture the store database, uploaded media and code often enough that an order placed between backups is not lost. The guide below compares the leading options reported in 2026 roundups, explains the pricing uncertainty, and gives a vendor-neutral setup and recovery procedure.

Quick comparison: which WooCommerce backup plugin fits your store?
These capabilities and retention periods are the ones reported in 2026 third-party roundups and, for one Jetpack tier, a vendor resource page. Pricing is not treated as verified because the sources conflict and current vendor pricing pages were not checked.
| Plugin | Capture model | Storage | Retention reported | WooCommerce-specific strengths | Best fit |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| BlogVault | Continuous or near-real-time WooCommerce capture, as reported | Off-site cloud included | 365 days for the WooCommerce tier, as reported | Per-order capture, one-click restore, staging, and an emergency restore path that does not require a working WordPress admin login | Stores where order loss and recovery speed are the main risks |
| Jetpack Backup (VaultPress) | Real-time option | Provider-hosted archive | 30 days in several roundups; an Advanced resource page lists 365 days | Real-time backup positioning and long retention on the cited Advanced tier | Busy stores that prioritize continuous capture, after confirming the exact plan |
| UpdraftPlus | Scheduled backups; generally not real-time | Bring your own destination, including Google Drive, Dropbox and Amazon S3 on the free tier | Depends on the schedule and storage you configure | Flexible destinations; Premium adds incremental backups and migration tools | Small stores and owners who want control over storage and cost |
| Duplicator Pro | Primarily scheduled packages, migration and cloning | Depends on the destination you configure | Not stated in the cited 2026 roundups | Useful for moving or cloning a site; live WooCommerce-order capture was not confirmed | Development, staging and migration workflows rather than live-order protection |
If your store receives orders throughout the day, select a real-time option or configure at least hourly database backups. A daily database backup plus a weekly full backup can be reasonable for a small store with little order activity, provided you accept the larger possible gap.

Why WooCommerce backups need a different standard
A normal WordPress backup can appear healthy while still failing the store owner. WooCommerce orders, customers and products live in the database, while product images, downloadable files, themes and plugins live under the site files. A usable restore needs both sets in a consistent point-in-time copy.
Frequency determines the maximum amount of business data you may lose. With a daily schedule, an order placed after the last successful run may disappear when you restore that point. Real-time or frequent database capture narrows that window, but it does not remove the need for periodic full-file backups and tested recovery.
Keep copies away from the production server. A server failure, compromised administrator account or destructive update can affect both the site and a backup stored in the same account. Connect an independent cloud destination or the provider’s off-site storage before relying on the plugin.
Plugin-by-plugin assessment
BlogVault: the broadest WooCommerce recovery set
Across the roundups, BlogVault is most often named the top pick for WooCommerce stores. The reported WooCommerce tier includes off-site cloud storage, one-click restoration, a staging site and per-order capture. Its emergency restore path is specifically described as working without a functioning WordPress administrator login, which is valuable after a lockout or damaged dashboard.
The same coverage reports a 365-day archive for the WooCommerce tier. That long history helps when a bad update or compromise is discovered weeks or months later. Confirm the exact retention and order-capture behavior for your plan before subscribing, because the figures come from review coverage rather than a current pricing-page check.

Jetpack Backup (VaultPress): the real-time-first choice
Jetpack Backup is positioned in the roundups as the real-time option. Continuous capture is most useful for stores with frequent orders, where a scheduled backup could miss too much transaction data. Several reviews describe a 30-day archive, shorter than the 365 days reported for BlogVault’s WooCommerce tier.
A Jetpack resource page lists an Advanced tier with real-time backups and 365 days of storage at $249 per year. That conflicts with the 30-day figure in the roundups, so treat retention as plan-specific and verify it in the checkout or current plan documentation. Do not assume that every Jetpack Backup tier includes the Advanced retention period.

UpdraftPlus: budget flexibility with scheduled jobs
UpdraftPlus’s free tier supports scheduled backups and destinations such as Google Drive, Dropbox and Amazon S3, along with other storage services. You decide where the copies live and how many to retain. Premium adds incremental backup and migration tools. The coverage generally does not describe real-time backup, so it is a weaker fit when losing orders placed between scheduled runs is unacceptable.
For a small catalog or a store with modest order volume, a carefully chosen schedule can make UpdraftPlus practical. Set a frequent database schedule separately from the larger files so that order data is captured more often without uploading the entire media library every time.
Duplicator Pro: strong for moving sites, not proven for live orders
Duplicator Pro is described mainly as a migration and cloning tool. The cited 2026 sources did not confirm that it captures live WooCommerce order data. Use it for creating a package for development, staging or a host move only after checking how its current build handles your database and uploads. Do not select it as your sole live-order backup on the assumption that a migration package is equivalent to continuous transactional protection.

Choose a backup strategy by order volume and risk
High-volume or always-open stores
- Use real-time capture, or schedule database backups at least hourly.
- Keep a separate full-file backup at least daily or weekly, depending on how often themes, plugins and uploads change.
- Retain at least 30 days of restore points; a year of history is useful when a compromise is discovered late.
- Document a recovery path that does not depend on the normal administrator login.
Small stores with limited daily orders
- Run a daily database backup and a weekly full backup as a baseline.
- Increase the database frequency during promotions, launches or seasonal peaks.
- Use an off-site destination you can access independently of the web host.
- Review storage capacity and successful-run notifications each week.
Development, redesign and host migration
- Use a staging copy before changing themes, plugins or checkout code.
- Keep a known-good production restore point before starting the work.
- Choose a migration-oriented tool such as Duplicator Pro only after confirming that the package includes the WooCommerce database and uploads you need.
What to include before you schedule anything
Prepare the recovery requirements first; otherwise a green backup status may still produce an incomplete store.

- Code: the active theme, child theme, plugins and any custom snippets or configuration files required by checkout.
- Off-site destination: provider-hosted storage or a separately controlled Google Drive, Dropbox, Amazon S3 or equivalent account.

- Access: a second administrator or documented emergency recovery method, stored securely and tested.
How to set up a WooCommerce backup plugin
Screen names differ by plugin and plan, so use the closest matching labels in your installation. The sequence is the important part.
1. Connect off-site storage first
- Install the selected backup plugin from WordPress dashboard > Plugins > Add New, or upload the vendor’s current package if you purchased a premium edition.
- Open the plugin’s settings or backup page and authorize an off-site destination. Choose the provider’s cloud, Google Drive, Dropbox, Amazon S3 or another supported service.
- Complete the authorization flow and confirm that the plugin reports a connected destination. Do not make the production server your only storage location.
2. Define the backup contents
- Enable the database backup and verify that WooCommerce tables containing orders, customers and products are included.
- Enable files and select the uploads directory, active themes, plugins and any custom directories used by the store.
- If the plugin offers separate database and file schedules, keep them separate. Database copies can run frequently; large media and code archives can run less often.
3. Set frequency to match order flow
- For a busy store, select real-time capture when the plan provides it, or set the database interval to hourly or more frequent.
- For a smaller store, set daily database backups and weekly full backups, then shorten the interval during promotions.
- Run one manual backup after saving the schedule. Wait for a successful completion rather than assuming that saving settings created a restore point.
4. Set retention and notifications
- Configure at least 30 days of restore points. If storage cost or limits make that impossible, keep the newest points off-site and export older monthly points separately.
- Turn on success and failure notifications. A backup that silently stops is not protection.
- Check the destination after the first run and confirm that both a database archive and the expected files exist.
5. Test on staging
- Create a staging site using the plugin’s staging feature or a separate test installation.
- Restore a recent point to staging, then verify the storefront, cart, checkout, customer login, product images, downloadable files and order history.
- Record how long the restore takes and which credentials or DNS steps are required. This becomes your recovery runbook.
How real-time order capture changes recovery
Real-time capture records transactions as they occur, reducing the interval between an order and its appearance in a restore point. It is most valuable when a store cannot recreate orders from another system. Scheduled tools can still be adequate when the database interval is short and the order volume is low, but you must accept the gap explicitly.
Per-order capture, reported for BlogVault’s WooCommerce tier, gives a more granular way to identify an order in the archive. That is different from merely having a daily full backup: it can simplify recovering a specific transaction without rolling the entire site back, subject to the plugin’s current workflow.
Restoring a store without losing newer orders
Restoration is where an otherwise good backup plan can create a second incident. Restoring an older point can remove orders placed after that point, even if the storefront files are correct.

- Identify the last known-good restore point and write down its timestamp. Compare it with the time of the suspected failure.
- Restore to staging first whenever the production site is still accessible. Test checkout, payment status, stock, taxes, shipping and customer access.
- Before production rollback, export or otherwise preserve newer order information from the current database if it is still readable.
- Check payment-gateway records, emailed receipts and fulfillment systems for orders created after the selected restore point. These records may be needed to re-enter or reconcile transactions.
- Restore production using the plugin’s normal restore tool, or its emergency path if the administrator dashboard is unavailable.
- Afterward, compare order numbers, payment statuses, inventory and customer communications. Keep the incident notes with the timestamp and restore point used.
Never test a destructive rollback on the only production copy. A staging restore is both a technical test and a way to learn exactly which data the selected point contains.

The figures below are older or conflicting third-party review reports, not verified current quotes. Confirm the amount, billing term, number of sites, storage allowance and retention in each vendor’s current checkout before buying.
| Plugin | Reported price information | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| BlogVault | Roundups report $49.50, $89 and $99 per year; another review lists a $149-per-year 10 GB entry plan and an $89–$249 range. | WooCommerce tier, storage quota, retention, order capture and number of sites. |
| Jetpack Backup | Reviews report $10 per month, $4.95 per month billed annually and $9.95 per month regular pricing. A vendor resource page lists Advanced at $249 per year. | Whether the quoted plan is real-time, its archive length and whether billing is monthly or annual. |
| UpdraftPlus Premium | Most often reported at $70 per year for two sites. | Current site limit, incremental-backup features, included destinations and renewal price. |
| Duplicator Pro | No dependable current figure was established in the cited coverage. | Plan limits, storage integrations and whether the workflow protects live WooCommerce orders. |
Common failure modes and fixes
The backup succeeds but the store is missing orders
Check whether the job was scheduled, whether the database was included and when the last successful run completed. If the interval was too long, recover newer transactions from payment-gateway records or a recent database export before rolling back.
The only copy is on the web server
Connect off-site storage immediately and run a fresh full backup. A server-level copy can disappear with the server, account or malware event it was meant to protect against.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Storage fills up and new runs stop
Reduce unnecessary file frequency, increase the destination quota or move older restore points to separate archival storage. Keep enough points to cover at least 30 days of recovery history.

The administrator dashboard is inaccessible
Use the plugin’s documented emergency restore route if it provides one. BlogVault is reported to have such a path; for other tools, keep host-level access instructions and a tested staging copy rather than assuming dashboard access will exist.
A restore works technically but checkout fails
Test payment credentials, webhooks, tax and shipping settings, stock levels and URL configuration on staging. A database and files can restore successfully while an external payment connection still needs reauthorization.
Maintenance checklist
- Review the last successful database and full-file timestamps every week.
- Open the off-site destination monthly and confirm that archives can be downloaded.
- Perform a staging restore at least quarterly and after major plugin or hosting changes.
- Recheck retention, storage limits and plan features at renewal.
- Update the recovery runbook with emergency contacts, access methods and the location of payment records.
- Increase capture frequency before campaigns, product launches and holiday peaks.
Recommendation
Pick BlogVault when you need the most complete WooCommerce-oriented recovery workflow and long history reported by the roundups. Pick Jetpack Backup when real-time capture is the deciding requirement, but verify whether your plan has 30 or 365 days of retention. Pick UpdraftPlus for scheduled backups with your own cloud destination and a lower reported Premium cost. Treat Duplicator Pro as a migration and cloning tool unless its current documentation explicitly confirms live-order protection.
Whatever you choose, connect off-site storage before the first run, include the database and uploads, schedule to match order volume, retain at least 30 days of points and prove the process with a staging restore. Those operational steps matter more than the plugin name when an actual rollback is required.
