Best Wireless Webcams ~ Top Bluetooth Webcams

Most modern wireless webcams do not send video over Bluetooth. Here are the best Wi-Fi, receiver-based, and production-camera options, plus setup advice and compatibility warnings.

If you are searching for a Bluetooth webcam, the first thing to know is that Bluetooth is usually not how a modern webcam sends video to a computer. Mainstream wireless camera options use Wi-Fi, NDI, SRT, or a dedicated wireless USB/HDMI receiver. Bluetooth may be included for setup, control, or accessories, but its presence does not mean the camera can transmit a live webcam feed over Bluetooth.

The best choice depends on what you mean by “wireless”: a battery-powered camera that works over Wi-Fi, a professional production camera, an adapter for an existing USB camera, or a document camera that sends video to a receiver.

Best wireless webcams at a glance

Pick Best for Wireless method Important limitation
Mevo Start Most people who need a genuinely wireless webcam Wi-Fi through the Mevo Webcam App Requires the camera and computer to be on the same network
Mevo Core Premium streaming and production Wi-Fi 6E, NDI, SRT, RTMP, or Mevo Webcam App Expensive and more production-oriented than a normal desk webcam

IPEVO VZ-X Ultra bundle Classrooms, overhead demonstrations, and documents Dedicated wireless USB/HDMI receiver It is a document camera, not a conventional face-to-face webcam

1. Mevo Start: the best true wireless webcam for most users

The Mevo Start is the most straightforward option if you want to place a battery-powered camera away from your computer. It captures and streams up to 1080p, supports H.264 and HEVC, includes a built-in microphone, and can operate over Wi-Fi. It also supports RTMP, SRT, and NDI HX for more advanced streaming setups.

For ordinary video calls, Mevo Start has two webcam modes:

  • Wired Webcam/UVC: connect it to the computer with USB.
  • Wireless Webcam: connect the camera and computer to the same network, then use the Mevo Webcam App to expose the camera as a selectable webcam source.

Once the wireless connection is working, select the resulting camera in Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, OBS, or another application. This is not a direct Bluetooth connection. The Mevo Webcam App is part of the wireless webcam path.

Mevo Start limitations

  • The camera and computer must be on the same network.
  • The current webcam mode requires compatible firmware; Mevo lists version 4.5.1 as the minimum for Mevo Start.
  • If your computer shows “Mevo Camera” but there is no live video, open the Mevo Wireless Webcam tray or menu-bar app and select the specific connected camera. The generic entry can display a placeholder until a camera is selected.
  • In wired UVC mode, Mevo Start cannot simultaneously record or stream as a Mevo camera.
  • The fixed-focus lens has an 83.7-degree diagonal field of view and is designed to stay in focus from approximately 3 feet, or 1 meter, to infinity.

Mevo Start is a good fit for a presenter who needs to move around, a small studio, a secondary camera, or a setup where running a long USB cable would be inconvenient.

2. Mevo Core: the premium wireless production camera

Mevo Core is closer to a compact production camera than a typical monitor-mounted webcam. It has a 4/3 CMOS sensor, an interchangeable Micro Four Thirds lens mount, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.1, a rechargeable and replaceable battery, and wireless streaming up to 4K30.

The hardware is considerably more capable than a conventional webcam. It includes two USB-C ports, HDMI output, a 3.5mm TRS audio input, and a microSD card slot. It can work through the Mevo Webcam App or through production protocols including NDI, SRT, and RTMP. Mevo’s OBS documentation specifically supports NDI connections from both Mevo Start and Mevo Core.

There is an important detail here: Bluetooth 5.1 does not make Mevo Core a Bluetooth video webcam. Its documented wireless computer-webcam connection uses Wi-Fi and the Mevo Webcam App. One of the two USB-C ports supports UVC wired webcam output, so check the port diagram before connecting it by cable.

Choose Mevo Core when image quality, lens choice, wireless production features, and expansion options matter more than price or simplicity. For a single weekly video call, it is likely excessive.

3. HoverCam Orbit Recast: the best wireless adapter for an existing camera

The HoverCam Orbit Recast is not a camera. It is a wireless USB camera adapter. The idea is simple: connect a compatible USB camera to the transmitter, then connect the receiver to a computer by USB or to a display by HDMI.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

This can solve a problem that a new webcam cannot. You may already own a document camera, inspection camera, microscope camera, or USB webcam that needs to sit several feet away from the computer. Recast is designed to remove the cable between that camera and the computer.

Do not assume that every USB webcam will work perfectly. Before buying, check the camera’s power requirements, maximum resolution, USB behavior, expected latency, and compatibility with the Recast system. The product should be treated as a camera-specific wireless bridge rather than a universal Bluetooth webcam replacement.

4. IPEVO VZ-X Ultra Wireless Classroom Plus Bundle

The IPEVO VZ-X Ultra is a 13-megapixel wireless HDMI/USB document camera. The Wireless Classroom Plus Bundle pairs it with IPEVO’s Wireless USB/HDMI Receiver, allowing cable-free transmission to a computer or HDMI display.

This is the right type of wireless camera for showing books, circuit boards, handwritten work, product samples, or overhead demonstrations. Its flexible document-camera design is more useful for those jobs than a fixed front-facing webcam.

Logitech C920x HD Pro PC Webcam Full 1080p/30fps Video - Black
  • Compatible with Nintendo Switch 2’s new GameChat mode
  • HD lighting adjustment and autofocus: The Logitech webcam automatically fine-tunes the lighting, producing bright, razor-sharp images even in low-light settings. This makes it a great webcam for streaming and an ideal web camera for laptop use
  • Advanced capture software: Easily create and share video content with this Logitech camera that is suitable for use as a desktop computer camera or a monitor webcam
  • Stereo audio with dual mics: Capture natural sound during calls and recorded videos with this 1080p webcam, great as a video conference camera or a computer webcam
  • Full HD 1080p video calling and recording at 30 fps. You'll make a strong impression with this PC webcam that features crisp, clearly detailed, and vibrantly colored video

It is not the best choice for ordinary Zoom calls. The camera is designed to point at a work surface, and the wireless receiver is central to the setup. If you need a person-facing camera on a desk, Mevo Start is the more natural option.

What about the Logitech MX Brio?

The Logitech MX Brio is a capable conventional webcam, but it is not wireless. Logitech specifies a wired USB-C connection and a USB 3.0 requirement. It supports basic UVC webcam operation on Windows, macOS, ChromeOS, and Linux.

Some Logitech collaboration bundles mention Bluetooth because they include products such as the Zone Wireless headset or earbuds. That Bluetooth specification belongs to the audio accessory, not the MX Brio camera. The webcam still connects by USB.

MX Brio software support is narrower than its basic UVC compatibility: Logitech lists Windows 10 or later and macOS 10.15 or later for its software, and does not provide that software for ChromeOS or Linux. Buy it if you want a high-quality wired webcam, not if you specifically need cable-free video.

How to set up a Mevo as a wireless webcam

  1. Update the Mevo camera firmware. Mevo’s current support information lists at least firmware 4.5.1 for Mevo Start and 1.1.2 for Mevo Core.
  2. Connect the camera and computer to the same local network. A guest network or network isolation setting can prevent the devices from discovering each other.
  3. Install the Mevo Webcam software on the computer.
  4. Open the Mevo Webcam App from the Windows tray or Mac menu bar.
  5. Select the connected Mevo camera in the app.
  6. Open Zoom, Meet, Teams, OBS, or your preferred application and choose the Mevo camera as the video source.

Mevo’s current support information lists Windows 10 x64 as a requirement for its wireless webcam software. It also documents a Mac desktop beta with macOS 12.3 as the minimum version for that beta. If you need the least software-dependent setup, use Mevo’s wired UVC mode instead.

Changing the Mevo network

If the camera is connected to the wrong Wi-Fi network, change it from the Mevo mobile app:

  1. Tap More Options.
  2. Tap the gear icon to open Settings.
  3. Tap Network.
  4. Tap Disconnect to leave the current connection.
  5. Tap Configure Mevo to select a local Wi-Fi network, or tap Change Connection Type to switch modes.
  6. When Ethernet is not active, choose Wi-Fi / Cellular Data. When Ethernet is active, Mevo shows Wi-Fi / Ethernet.

Wireless webcam problems to expect

Problem Likely cause What to check
No camera appears The devices are on different networks Compare the Wi-Fi network names and disable guest-network isolation
“Mevo Camera” appears without video No specific camera was selected in the Mevo app Open the tray/menu-bar app and select the camera
Video is delayed Wireless network congestion or a receiver’s inherent latency Move closer to the access point, use a less congested network, or use USB
The camera stops during a long call Battery depletion Charge the camera or connect external power
Zoom cannot see the camera The wireless camera requires an intermediary application Start the Mevo Webcam App, or use OBS/NDI software where appropriate

What to check before buying

  • Transport method: confirm whether the camera uses Wi-Fi, NDI, SRT, or a dedicated receiver. Do not treat a Bluetooth logo as proof of Bluetooth video.
  • Software: some wireless cameras create a virtual webcam only through their own desktop application.
  • Network layout: same-network discovery may fail on guest Wi-Fi, isolated business networks, or some mesh configurations.
  • Power: wireless does not mean unlimited operation. Battery-powered cameras still need charging or external power.
  • Latency: wireless video can be less responsive than a direct USB connection, which matters for live demonstrations, gaming, and interactive teaching.
  • Resolution: a camera may stream at one resolution wirelessly and support a different resolution over USB or HDMI.
  • Use case: a person-facing webcam, a document camera, and a wireless adapter solve different problems.

FAQ

Are there Bluetooth webcams that connect directly to a computer?

Bluetooth is not the normal transport for current mainstream standalone webcam video. Most wireless camera products use Wi-Fi, network protocols, or a dedicated receiver. Verify the manufacturer’s connection instructions rather than relying on a Bluetooth specification.

Can Mevo Start work with Zoom and Microsoft Teams wirelessly?

Yes. Put the Mevo Start and computer on the same network, run the Mevo Webcam App, select the camera there, and then choose the resulting Mevo camera source in Zoom, Teams, Meet, or another supported application.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Does Mevo Core’s Bluetooth 5.1 transmit webcam video?

No documented Mevo webcam workflow uses Bluetooth as the video transport. Mevo Core’s wireless webcam mode uses Wi-Fi and the Mevo Webcam App; Bluetooth is not evidence of Bluetooth webcam video.

Can I make a regular USB webcam wireless?

A wireless USB camera adapter such as HoverCam Orbit Recast may do this with a compatible camera. Check compatibility, power, resolution, and latency for the specific camera because universal support is not guaranteed.

The Bottom Line

For a genuinely wireless webcam, Mevo Start is the simplest recommendation. Choose Mevo Core for higher-end wireless production and interchangeable lenses, HoverCam Orbit Recast when you already have a suitable USB camera, and the IPEVO VZ-X Ultra bundle for documents and classroom demonstrations. If a listing calls a standard USB webcam “Bluetooth,” check the connection details carefully: it may be describing an accessory, remote control, or bundled headset rather than wireless video.
