Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteWindows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread
Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallYou can often play demanding games without replacing your graphics card: first reduce the work your current GPU has to do, then consider cloud gaming if local performance still falls short. If you have access to another capable gaming PC, Steam Remote Play can stream from it. The best route depends on the exact game, supported features, network quality, device, region and cost.
Start by checking whether the game can run better locally
If you want to keep playing on your current PC, try in-game changes before paying for a service. Lower the graphics preset, reduce demanding options such as ray tracing if the game offers them, and lower the render resolution. A lower resolution can improve performance, but it may also make the image look less sharp.

Enable an upscaler if the game supports one
Some games offer AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR). It reconstructs higher-resolution visuals from lower-resolution frames; it does not add GPU processing power, and its availability and results depend on the game and hardware. Check the game’s graphics settings for an upscaling option. AMD describes the technology at AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution.

When cloud gaming is the better fit
Cloud gaming runs a supported game on a remote system and streams its video and audio to your device. That can let a low-powered PC play a demanding title without rendering it locally, though your device still needs to decode and display the stream. It is not a way to access every game you own: confirm the exact title, store or account requirements, region, device and plan before subscribing.
GeForce NOW
NVIDIA’s current GeForce NOW system requirements specify 25 Mbps for FHD at 60 FPS and 45 Mbps for 4K at 120 FPS, with latency below 80 ms to an NVIDIA data center. NVIDIA recommends wired Ethernet or 5 GHz Wi-Fi. These are service requirements and guidance, not a guarantee of smooth play; location and connection stability matter as well as bandwidth. Check the current GeForce NOW system requirements and live game catalog before choosing a plan.

Xbox Cloud Gaming
Xbox says cloud gaming performs best with a 20 Mbps connection on PCs, consoles and tablets. Its FAQ cautions that “Streaming performance is affected by internet connection, user location, device, and other factors.” The available games and access vary by region, plan and platform; check the Xbox Cloud Gaming FAQ for current availability and requirements.
Compare services against your actual game and setup
- Check the exact game first. Search each service’s current catalog and verify any required game store, account, region and plan.
- Check your connection to the service. Use the provider’s stated requirements as a starting point, but do not treat an Mbps result alone as proof of low latency or stable streaming.
- Compare access and cost. Determine whether the game is included or must be owned separately, and check current plan prices, performance tiers and any session or usage limits.
- Match picture and responsiveness to your needs. Compare the available resolution and frame-rate tier with your display, and consider whether streaming input lag is acceptable for the games you play.
Catalogs, plans, prices and device support can change, so verify them directly before paying. NVIDIA has announced more than 2,200 additional Steam titles and over 4,500 combined Ready-to-Play and Install-to-Play titles for GeForce NOW; those are NVIDIA-reported catalog figures, not an independent performance measure, and the catalog can change. See NVIDIA’s 2026 GeForce NOW Blackwell announcement.

Use Steam Remote Play if another capable PC can host
Steam Remote Play streams video and audio from a host PC to another device. The host PC runs the game, so this can help when you have a capable gaming computer elsewhere in your home and want to play on a less powerful client. It will not improve performance if the host is also underpowered. Steam explains the feature at Steam Remote Play.
Choose the route that fits your situation
| Option | Best fit | Main trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Lower settings and use in-game upscaling | You want to keep playing locally and the game supports the features you need. | Image quality may fall, and results vary with the game and hardware. |
| GeForce NOW or another cloud service | Your local GPU is too weak and the service supports your game. | Requires suitable network quality and service access; supported games, devices and plan features vary. |
| Xbox Cloud Gaming | You want to play supported Xbox cloud games on a compatible device. | Catalog and availability vary by region, plan and platform; streaming depends on connection, location and device. |
| Steam Remote Play | You can use another capable gaming PC as the host. | The host PC must run the game; streaming does not reduce its workload. |
Set up for a TV or couch session
A controller can make TV or couch play more practical. NVIDIA requires a supported gamepad for TV play and lists Xbox controllers among supported options; check the service’s current device guidance and the game’s control support before buying anything. If your connection needs improvement, NVIDIA recommends Ethernet or 5 GHz Wi-Fi, but a new cable or router is only useful if it addresses a limitation in your current setup.
