Which VPNs are worth testing for Destiny 2?
TechRadar’s 2026 gaming-VPN comparison includes the four providers below, but its gaming tests do not establish which performs best in Destiny 2. Treat this as a shortlist, not a ranking based on Destiny gameplay. No Destiny-specific head-to-head test or reliable latency and packet-loss results were established for these options.

Provider features, coverage and performance can change. Confirm current details directly before choosing a plan. A provider’s general gaming results or marketing claims are not a substitute for testing your own connection.
Will a VPN lower your ping or stop disconnects?
Not necessarily. A VPN changes the path your traffic takes; it can improve a poor ISP route in some circumstances, but it can also add distance or processing and make latency or stability worse. Your location, ISP routing, VPN endpoint, platform and local network all affect the outcome. The available sources do not provide a controlled, independent comparison of VPN latency or packet loss in Destiny 2, so no provider can be presented as a verified fix.

Test a nearby endpoint first, then compare it with your normal connection during the same activity and at similar times. Track latency, packet loss, disconnects, voice chat and NAT behavior. If the connection worsens, try a different endpoint or protocol—or disconnect the VPN and compare again. What to check before blaming your VPN
Bungie says Destiny needs a constant, stable connection and strongly recommends wired internet because Wi-Fi can have signal-strength and stability issues. - Check for an outage and identify the error. Check Bungie and your platform’s service status, then look up the exact Destiny error code in Bungie’s guidance before changing network settings.
- Stabilize the local connection. Use Ethernet if practical. If you must use Wi-Fi, check signal strength and router placement before adding another network variable.
- Review NAT and router configuration. Bungie recommends UPnP when possible. If UPnP cannot be used and problems continue, its guidance discusses port forwarding instead. - Test the VPN as a controlled comparison. Change one variable at a time: start with a nearby endpoint, keep the game activity and test conditions similar, and record connection behavior. If it becomes less stable, try another endpoint or protocol, then test without the VPN.
Can you use a VPN without getting banned?
Bungie’s account policy does not give a blanket statement that every VPN is allowed or prohibited. It says Bungie investigates suspected manipulation of a player’s connection or other players’ connections, and that players with consistently unstable connections may receive restrictions. That policy does not establish a guarantee about any VPN, IP address, region or account. Will these VPNs work on PS5 or Xbox?
Do not assume that a provider’s desktop or mobile app can run directly on a console. Check current provider documentation for your exact platform and whether the available option is router configuration or another supported setup. The available comparison does not establish Destiny-specific compatibility across consoles, regions and network configurations. If you configure a router, keep Bungie’s NAT guidance in mind and assess any resulting change to voice chat and connection stability.
