1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesThere is no well-supported universal “best VPN for Syria” in 2026: the available reports are limited, dated, and do not compare services through controlled tests on Syrian networks. Proton VPN, NordVPN, and Psiphon have different kinds of evidence behind them, so the right choice depends on what you need to access and whether the app, sign-in, and payment steps work on your connection.
What works in Syria, according to the available reports?
Availability can differ by service, internet provider, device, and task. A VPN tunnel that connects does not prove that you can create an account, renew a subscription, or complete a payment. The reports below cover specific checks, not guarantees for all users in Syria.

| Option | What was reported | What the report does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| Proton VPN | Its official Syria page describes a free plan for using the service from Syria, alongside paid features. The provider says a paid plan is required to obtain a Syrian IP address. | This is the provider’s description, not an independent test on Syrian networks. It does not establish that the app, account creation, or payment will work on your connection. |
| NordVPN | Unblock Syria’s September 2026 tracker account reported the service unavailable and summarized the provider’s response as citing an internal compliance policy. | This is a dated community report, not a countrywide test. It does not establish the situation on every network or at a later date. |
| Psiphon | Unblock Syria reported connections on Android and Windows across two Syrian internet providers in checks last updated September 15, 2026. It described the service as partly usable. | This limited report is not a head-to-head review of paid VPN providers, and it does not establish results on other devices, providers, or dates. |
These options are not directly interchangeable: a VPN subscription, a provider’s free plan, and a separate circumvention tool may differ in features and how they fit your needs. The reports do not support ranking them by speed, security, or censorship resistance in Syria.
Do you need a VPN for the service you want?
Not necessarily. ComeSyria reported that Google Play worked without a VPN in January 2026 and that Gemini access was reported in September 2026. The same source cautions that availability varies by service and connection. Those dated examples do not show that every global app is accessible, or that access will remain unchanged.

Check the particular service from the connection and device you intend to use. An app being listed or its website loading is different from being able to sign in or use all of its features.
How should you choose between the options?
Start with your actual goal—accessing a particular service, using a VPN connection, or obtaining an IP address associated with Syria. Then assess each step separately rather than treating “works” as a single result.

- Check reachability. See whether the provider’s website and app are accessible from your own connection.
- Check the feature you need. Confirm whether it is included in a free plan or requires a paid plan. For a Syrian IP address, Proton VPN says payment is required.
- Separate connection from account and payment. Test whether you can open the app, sign in, connect, and—if you intend to subscribe—reach checkout and complete payment. Success at one stage does not establish success at the others.
- Match the evidence to your device and network. A report involving Android and two providers does not establish performance on a different device or ISP.
- Check the date. Treat community reports as snapshots. Access, provider policies, and payment availability can change.
What does a VPN protect—and what does it not?
A VPN encrypts traffic between your device and the VPN server, as Proton describes on its official page. That does not make all browsing anonymous or guarantee protection from every threat. The provider’s feature descriptions are not independent verification of performance on Syrian networks.

What the evidence can—and cannot—tell you
The evidence available for Syria combines provider statements, a service-access guide, and limited community-tracked reports. It is not a controlled, independent comparison across Syrian ISPs. Consider every availability statement alongside its date, connection, device, and the exact action tested: reaching a website, opening an app, signing in, connecting, or paying.
