For brand-created camera experiences, look for shopping Lenses in Snapchat. If you want to upload clothing photos and save outfit ideas, consider standalone apps such as Drape for iPhone or TryAnyOutfit for Android. These options use different workflows; none should be treated as a reliable clothing-fit or sizing test.
Which virtual try-on option suits you?
| Service | Best for | What it supports | Access and caveats |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google Try-On | Previewing eligible products while shopping | Google’s merchant documentation lists shoes, tops, bottoms, and dresses. Shoppers can upload a photo; eligible U.S. users can also create a digital self-image from a selfie. | Available only in listed countries, for logged-in users age 18 or older with specified account settings. Only eligible listings show the button, and the image does not establish fit or size. |
| Snapchat AR Shopping | Trying products through a brand’s camera-based experience | Snap’s toolkit describes clothing, accessories, beauty, and home visualization through shopping Lenses and partner experiences. | The cited toolkit dates to 2022; check Snapchat or the brand for current availability. It is not established as a universal try-on tool for any item. |
| Drape: Virtual Try-On | iPhone users who want to try user-supplied clothing images and save looks | The U.S. App Store listing describes clothing try-on, saved outfits, wardrobe organization, and styling features. | The listing says try-ons require a paid tier and describes a seven-day Standard trial. Features and prices can change; claims are from the listing, not independent testing. |
| TryAnyOutfit | Android users who want to upload clothing photos and keep outfit ideas | The Google Play listing describes tops, bottoms, dresses, jackets, full outfits, and shoes, along with wardrobe saving and sharing. | The listing describes a paid micro-trial, monthly plans, and credit top-ups. These are developer-provided descriptions, not comparative test results. |
Google Try-On: easiest when the product is eligible
Google’s shopping feature works within product discovery rather than as a general-purpose closet app. Its shopper help says Try-On appears in Google Search, Shopping, and Images on mobile and desktop, but only for eligible products; the shopper-facing button is available on non-sponsored results. The button’s absence means that particular listing cannot be tried on through the feature.
Supported clothing and countries
Google’s current Merchant Center page lists shoes, tops, bottoms, and dresses. Google’s shopper help says lingerie, bathing suits, and accessories are unsupported. Supported countries listed by Google are the United States (English and Spanish), United Kingdom, Canada (English and French), Australia, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, and New Zealand. Google requires users to be logged in, at least 18, and to have Web & App Activity and Search Personalization turned on.

- In Google Search, Shopping, or Images, search for a supported clothing item and open an eligible non-sponsored product listing.
- Select “Try it on.” If the control is not shown, that listing is not eligible.
- Upload a photo, or, if you are eligible for the U.S. selfie flow, create a digital self-image from a selfie. Google says you can save or share the generated look.
For a useful image, Google recommends a full-body photo from head to toe, good lighting, a clear background, fitted clothing, and standing with hands visible. Avoid sitting or crouching, and do not use a photo of a child. In the U.S. flow, Google says Nano Banana can generate a full-body digital version from a selfie; choosing your usual clothing size is optional and is intended to improve body-shape accuracy.
What the preview can and cannot tell you
Google warns that generated images may contain errors in body shape, personal features, or garment details. The image does not determine or guarantee fit, recommend a size, or show whether a merchant has a particular size available. Use the seller’s size chart, product details, and customer reviews to decide what to order. Google also says image quality on both the product and user sides affects the output.

Google says it does not collect or store biometric data for this experience and does not use photos to train models. Its shopper help says uploaded photos may be saved for convenience and can be replaced or deleted. These privacy statements apply to Google’s feature, not to other apps in this comparison.
Eligibility also depends on the product data supplied by merchants. Google says eligible merchants with shopping feeds are automatically opted in, and its image guidance requests a high-resolution garment image, ideally at least 1024 pixels, showing one fully visible garment against a simple front-facing model, mannequin, or flat-lay. This helps explain why a product category may be supported while an individual listing still lacks Try-On.

Snapchat: brand-led AR, not an open catalog
Snap’s AR Shopping toolkit describes branded camera experiences for clothes, accessories, and beauty products, as well as visualizing home goods in a space. It presents Lens Web Builder templates and a Dress Up destination for shoppable experiences, and says selected Camera Kit partners can embed try-on in their own iOS and Android apps. American Eagle and Goodr are featured partners in that toolkit.
The toolkit is from 2022, so it explains Snap’s brand-oriented approach but does not establish that a particular Lens or partnership is active now. Check the relevant brand or Snapchat for present availability before relying on a specific experience.

Standalone photo apps: upload items and save looks
Drape for iPhone
The U.S. Apple App Store listing describes taking or pasting clothing-item images for try-on, saving outfits, organizing a wardrobe, and using styling features. The listing says its free tier does not include try-ons; it describes Standard and Pro subscriptions and a seven-day Standard trial. Check the live listing for current plan details. Descriptions such as “photorealistic” or fit-related claims are the developer’s, not independently validated performance findings.

Quick Recap
How to choose without mistaking a preview for a fitting
- Choose Google if you are already shopping in Google and the product has the Try it on button.
- Choose a Snapchat Lens when a brand offers a camera-based experience for its own products and you have confirmed it is currently available.
- Consider Drape or TryAnyOutfit if your priority is uploading clothing images, saving possible outfits, and using a dedicated wardrobe workflow; check device compatibility and current in-app terms.
- Use any generated image as a visual aid, not a fit verdict. The cited platform and app descriptions do not establish comparative accuracy, fit prediction, or return reduction.
