Check access before planning a rollout
The work version requires a managed work or education account and must be enabled by the organization’s IT team. Microsoft says Clipchamp Standard is included with certain Microsoft 365 and Office 365 plans and also describes standalone work subscriptions. Microsoft’s recorder documentation says 1080p recording is supported only when using the camera embedded in the Clipchamp video editor. Do not treat that as a universal capture limit—or as a promise that every recording route has the same resolution behavior. Validate the workflow with a pilot lesson
Before committing to a tool or standardizing a process, record a representative lesson and test the whole path from capture to learner playback.
- Confirm access: Sign in with the intended managed account and verify which features the organization’s license enables.
- Record a representative lesson: Include the trainer, screen, or both as appropriate. Check the captured resolution and audio in the actual recording mode.
- Review the edit: Make a realistic correction or update and confirm the editor supports the changes your team routinely needs.
- Check accessibility: Generate or add captions, review names and technical terms for errors, and test any transcript or SRT handoff required by your process.
- Test delivery: Export or share through the intended route, then check permissions, playback, captions, and learner access in the target LMS or Microsoft 365 destination.
- Document ownership: Decide where project files and finished videos live, who can edit or share them, and how updates will be made.
Recording setup: an external webcam is optional
Clipchamp supports webcam capture, but a separate webcam is not required for screen-only demonstrations. Troubleshooting common selection problems
The Clipchamp work option is missing
Check that you are signed in with the organization’s managed work or education account and ask IT whether Clipchamp is enabled. Then verify the tenant’s plan and feature eligibility; a personal account is not a substitute for the work-account requirement.

The recording resolution does not match expectations
First identify the capture route. Microsoft’s 1080p statement applies to the camera embedded in the Clipchamp editor, not every possible capture method. Check current documentation and inspect a test recording from the exact workflow you intend to use.

Captions or transcript files do not fit the process
Confirm the features available on the organization’s plan and whether the workflow calls for embedded captions, a transcript, or an SRT download. Review generated text before distribution, especially names and specialist vocabulary.
The LMS rejects or mishandles an export
Do not rely on a general SCORM claim alone. Confirm the chosen plan’s export behavior and test a sample in the target LMS, including learner playback and any tracking or completion behavior your course requires.
Sharing works for the author but not learners
Test with an account that has the same permissions as the intended audience. Check destination access settings and confirm the selected storage or player experience is available to those learners.
