For a PS5 Pro, prioritize a 4K TV that supports 120Hz, VRR and ALLM on the HDMI input you plan to use. Confirm the exact size and regional model specifications before buying: HDMI 2.1 on a product label alone does not guarantee every gaming feature works on every port. Sony says PS5 Pro can deliver enhanced 4K presentation and up to 120fps in compatible games, but support and performance vary by title.
Which TV features matter for PS5 Pro?
PS5 supports HDMI 2.1 and 4K/120Hz output. To use those capabilities, the TV, selected HDMI input, cable and console settings must all support the desired signal, and the game must offer a compatible mode. Sony does not claim that every PS5 Pro game runs at 4K and 120fps.

- 4K resolution at 120Hz: This is the core target for a high-refresh gaming setup. Check that the specific model and HDMI port support 4K at 120Hz.
- Variable Refresh Rate (VRR): VRR can match the display refresh rate to a compatible game’s output. Sony says it works with compatible games and HDMI 2.1 VRR-compatible TVs, and that results vary by TV and game.
- Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM): ALLM can switch a compatible TV into a low-latency mode. Sony cautions that not every TV with HDMI 2.1 supports ALLM, so confirm it in the specifications or manual.
- HDR: Check which HDR formats the television supports and how its game mode handles tone mapping. The available specifications here do not establish a comparative HDR winner.
Sony’s PS5 Pro feature page describes enhanced 4K presentation, ray tracing and gameplay up to 120fps for compatible games. Its PS5 resolution support guide explains output and compatibility considerations. These are capabilities, not a promise that every game uses them.

The LG OLED evo C5 is a reasonable example of the feature set to look for, not a universally proven best TV. LG’s UK product page lists four HDMI 2.1 ports and VRR up to 144Hz for the C5 sizes shown there. Those specifications make it a candidate for a PS5 Pro setup, but they do not establish comparative picture quality, measured input lag or how every regional variant performs.

How to choose the right model for your room
Once the gaming connections are confirmed, choose the display around how and where you watch. OLED is one possible panel type, but the available specifications do not establish that it is the right choice for every room or budget.

Check the port and setup before blaming the console
If 4K/120Hz or VRR is unavailable, work through the signal path. Sony’s troubleshooting guidance recommends checking the TV’s supported input, firmware, cable, direct connection and PS5 output settings.

Some TVs require an input setting change to enable an enhanced HDMI signal.
- Install available TV firmware updates, then reconnect the PS5 directly to the TV. Bypass an intermediary receiver or switch while troubleshooting.
- Use the PS5’s included cable or a suitable Ultra High Speed HDMI cable. An extra cable purchase may not be needed if the included one is suitable.
- On PS5, review Settings > Screen and Video > Video Output. Check the resolution and video transfer-rate options and confirm the connected display is reporting the expected capabilities.
- Test a game that supports the feature you want. A console output capability cannot enable a mode that the particular game does not offer.
Should you buy an 8K TV for PS5 Pro?
Do not treat 8K as an automatic upgrade over 4K/120Hz for gaming. Sony says PS5 Pro 8K output requires a display supporting 8K at 60Hz with Display Stream Compression, and VRR is disabled during 8K output. For a purchase centered on smooth high-refresh gameplay, verify 4K/120Hz and VRR support before paying extra for 8K.
