- Install VLC. OBS’s VLC Video source requires VLC to be installed on the computer running OBS.
- Open OBS and add the source. In the Sources panel, select + and choose VLC Video Source. Create or select a source.
- Add your files. In the source properties, use the playlist controls to add the local video files in the order you want them played.
- Check looping. Leave Loop Playlist enabled if you want playback to start again after the last item.
- Connect OBS to YouTube Live. In OBS, open Settings → Stream, select YouTube as the service, and enter the stream key from YouTube Studio. Keep the key private; anyone with access to it may be able to broadcast to your channel.
- Start the broadcast and verify it. Start streaming in OBS, then check the live preview and status in YouTube Studio. Keep OBS and the computer online; a local encoder does not provide cloud playback when the computer is off.
