StreamYard’s retrieved monthly list prices are $44.99 for Core and $88.99 for Advanced, but its prerecorded broadcasts have plan-based clip limits and end when the video finishes. A PC encoder avoids that StreamYard subscription, but its cost depends on measured electricity use and any additional hardware or internet expenses. For an uploaded video that must keep looping on YouTube, StreamNeo is a separate cloud option built for continuous playback.
What StreamYard and a PC actually cost per month
StreamYard’s pricing page lists these monthly-billed prices. Annual billing shows lower monthly equivalents, and StreamYard notes that promotions, renewal terms and custom offers can affect what a customer pays. Check the current StreamYard pricing page before subscribing.

| Option | Monthly-billed price | What the price covers for prerecorded streams |
|---|---|---|
| StreamYard Core | $44.99/month | Prerecorded videos up to 2 hours, according to StreamYard’s help page. |
| StreamYard Advanced | $88.99/month | Prerecorded videos up to 4 hours, according to StreamYard’s help page. |
| PC with a software encoder | No universal monthly total | Calculate electricity from actual average power and local rates; include only incremental hardware, software or connectivity costs you incur. |
The StreamYard plan prices above are the public page’s displayed monthly-billing prices at retrieval, not a guaranteed quote. StreamYard’s prerecorded-stream guide also lists Teams and Business with video limits up to 8 hours; those plans are not needed to compare the two individual plan prices above. See StreamYard’s prerecorded-stream guide for plan limits and workflow details.
Does StreamYard keep one prerecorded video live indefinitely?
No: StreamYard’s documented prerecorded flow is for a finite uploaded video. A scheduled broadcast starts at its selected time, and the broadcast ends when that video finishes. The help page does not establish an endlessly looping single video. StreamYard’s separate streaming-limit article says paid plans have no StreamYard-imposed streaming limit, but that does not remove the prerecorded clip-length limits. It also says YouTube has no stated stream limit on its end and that only the latest 12 hours will be recorded there. Those are different limits: the clip duration in the prerecorded guide is not the same as the platform’s general stream-duration statement. See StreamYard’s streaming and recording limits.

How to calculate your PC’s monthly cost
Use the computer’s measured average power while it is running the actual encoder and stream. A power-supply rating or a generic estimate for a desktop does not tell you what your setup draws in use.
Monthly electricity cost = average watts ÷ 1,000 × streaming hours in the billing interval × your electricity price per kWh.

For a continuous stream, use the number of hours in the month or billing period you are calculating, rather than assuming every month has exactly 30 days. Then add any genuinely incremental costs:

- Connectivity: include an added internet expense only if the stream causes one; do not allocate your entire existing broadband bill automatically.
- Software: include a paid encoder or other tool only if you choose one. YouTube documents software encoders on computers but does not set a PC’s household electricity or connectivity cost.

Compare the practical differences, not just the subscription
| Factor | StreamYard prerecorded broadcast | PC encoder |
|---|---|---|
| Recurring cost | Use the selected plan and billing cadence; retrieved monthly-billed prices are $44.99 for Core and $88.99 for Advanced. | No StreamYard subscription is required for the computer-encoder method YouTube describes. Add your own actual power, hardware, software and connectivity costs. |
| Prerecorded run length | Core supports clips up to 2 hours, Advanced up to 4 hours, and Teams or Business up to 8 hours; the broadcast ends when its selected video finishes. | YouTube’s encoder guide documents streaming from a computer, not guaranteed indefinite operation. Plan how you will monitor or restart the encoder. |
| Start and setup | A scheduled prerecorded stream starts at the selected time, even if you are not online to start it. | Configure the encoder with YouTube’s stream URL and key, and keep the computer and connection available. |
| Electricity and hardware | The cloud workflow moves encoding and stream delivery away from your local PC; other devices or network equipment at home may still use power. | Measure the setup’s actual average draw and include incremental hardware or connectivity expenses only when relevant. |
| Replay archive | StreamYard says only YouTube’s latest 12 hours will be recorded there. | YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Verify what happens for longer sessions before relying on a replay. |
Neither set of cited instructions quantifies reliability or the time you will spend monitoring a stream. Treat those as considerations for your own workflow, not guaranteed advantages of one route.
How to send a PC encoder stream to YouTube
YouTube’s encoder workflow is for streaming from a computer using software or standalone encoder hardware. Exact menu names can vary by encoder, but the essential setup is to create or select the YouTube live stream, then configure the encoder with YouTube’s stream URL and key. YouTube recommends RTMPS, the secure extension of RTMP. Follow YouTube’s encoder setup guide and encoder settings guidance for bitrates and resolutions for current options.

- Motherboard Specification: MSI A520M-A PRO motherboard provides reliable performance and expandability for your computing needs
- Integrated Graphics: AMD Radeon Vega Graphics (CPU Integration) enables you to play 1080P mainstream games at quality frame rates
- Memory and Storage: 16GB DDR4 3200MHz RAM paired with 1TB M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD for fast multitasking and quick data access
- Power Supply: 550W 80PLUS Bronze certified power supply ensures stable and energy-efficient operation
- Prepare the video and connection. Confirm that you have rights to the video, music and other material, and that the PC and internet connection can remain available for the intended session. Choose a resolution and bitrate your upload connection can sustain; use YouTube’s current settings page rather than assuming one bitrate suits every resolution and frame rate.
- Set up the YouTube live stream. In YouTube Studio, create or schedule the live stream and obtain the stream URL and stream key as described in YouTube’s encoder guide. Treat the key like a password: do not publish it or share it with anyone who should not be able to broadcast to your channel.
- Configure the encoder. Enter the stream URL and key into the encoder, select the output settings, and use RTMPS if supported. For a prerecorded video, set up playback in the encoder or the chosen streaming workflow; the encoder method does not itself guarantee that a video will repeat forever.
- Start and verify the broadcast. Start the encoder and check YouTube’s live control room for an incoming signal and the correct picture and sound before you rely on the stream. Keep the PC and network connection running for as long as the encoder is sending video.
- Plan for interruptions and replay. Decide how you will notice a dropped connection or stopped encoder and restart it. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; do not assume a longer session will be archived in full.
Only stream material you have permission to use. A live format does not make copyrighted music or video safe to broadcast, and a scheduled or continuous stream does not guarantee YouTube monetization. Review YouTube’s current copyright and monetization policies for your channel and content before going live.
Or let it run in the cloud
If the goal is an uploaded video playing continuously on YouTube rather than a scheduled finite clip, StreamNeo is a purpose-built cloud alternative: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, then go live. It loops the uploaded video from the cloud, so your computer does not have to stay on. It supports the uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, with no re-encode or quality tiers, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card; the monthly option is $9.99 per month. Learn about StreamNeo or start the free first day.
