Recommended starting settings
Use the demo defaults first, keeping resolution at 1280×800 and resolution scale at 100%. Those are the values reported in Steam Deck HQ’s pre-release demo test. The preview reported that the game reached 60 FPS in many smaller fights, with drops below 60 FPS but above 30 FPS in the largest encounters. Those figures describe that reviewer’s demo experience, not a formal benchmark or a result guaranteed across Deck models.

What to adjust if heavy fights feel uneven
Try a 40 FPS / 40 Hz cap
If frame-rate swings during large encounters distract you, try a 40 FPS / 40 Hz cap in SteamOS and compare how motion feels with the default behavior. This is an experiment for your own device, not a setting proven optimal by the Boltgun 2 demo test. Check performance in a demanding fight rather than judging the cap only in a quieter scene.

Compare the experience, not just the peak number
When deciding whether to keep a cap, consider frame pacing in larger fights, visual clarity at 1280×800, battery runtime on your specific Deck, and whether you value steadier motion over higher frame rates in lighter scenes. The published demo findings do not compare capped and uncapped play or report battery life, so those trade-offs need to be evaluated on your own device.
What is known—and not yet established—about Deck performance
The available performance figures come from a pre-release demo. Steam Deck HQ’s single hands-on report is useful as a starting reference, but it does not establish full-game performance, a worst-case frame rate, or results across Steam Deck LCD and OLED models. A separate Deck Wizard video description names a Steam Deck OLED, SteamOS 3.8.5, and a May 21, 2026 demo test, but does not state the tested graphics values; it therefore cannot verify a competing preset.

The game’s Steam listing gives Windows PC system requirements, not a Steam Deck compatibility rating. It lists minimum requirements of an Intel Core i5-8600K or AMD Ryzen 5 2600, 8 GB RAM, a GeForce GTX 980, Radeon R9 Fury, or Arc A580, and 13 GB storage. Recommended requirements are an Intel Core i7-10700 or AMD Ryzen 7 2700X, 16 GB RAM, a GeForce RTX 2070 Super or Radeon RX 5700 XT, and 13 GB storage. These PC specifications should not be treated as Deck-specific performance guidance.

Game and release details
At the time of the cited information, the full PC game was scheduled to release on Steam on October 14, 2026, while a demo was available. The listing describes a single-player first-person shooter featuring Malum Caedo and Nyra Veyrath and a branching campaign. A developer announcement describes returning gameplay options—Invulnerability, Infinite Ammo, and Unlock all weapons—alongside a new Undying Mode.
