There is no verified, universal Steam Deck settings preset for playing skate. through ReSkate. EA says Steam Deck and Linux are unsupported, while ReSkate users are relying on an unofficial Proton workaround. First confirm that your game build matches the one ReSkate currently supports; then use Proton troubleshooting and reduce graphics load if performance is poor. Treat any frame-rate report as specific to that person’s Deck and software setup, not a promise.

What to expect from ReSkate on Steam Deck

EA’s PC requirements page says skate. is not compatible with Steam Deck and that Linux is unsupported (EA PC system requirements). ReSkate community reports describe attempts to run it anyway; they do not amount to EA or Valve certification.

Steam’s listed minimum PC requirements are Windows 10 64-bit, DirectX 12, 8 GB RAM, a GTX 1050 Ti with 4 GB or Radeon RX 460 with 4 GB, broadband internet, and 25 GB of storage (Steam store listing). These are PC specifications, not evidence that the game works on SteamOS or a measure of Steam Deck performance.

Check the ReSkate-supported game build first

ReSkate supports one Steam game build at a time. Its README identifies build 25414733, but the supported build can change, so check the live ReSkate README before setup. The project says its launcher checks for ReSkate updates and checks the game files against the supported build.

Troubleshoot Proton and performance one change at a time

Valve’s Steam Deck troubleshooting guidance recommends installing system updates and restarting when an app is unstable. For a Steam app with compatibility trouble, Valve advises trying the latest Proton; it also recommends lowering graphics settings to reduce system load (Steam Deck software troubleshooting). These are general troubleshooting steps, not a ReSkate-specific configuration.

  1. Install available SteamOS updates, then restart the Deck.

  2. In the game’s Steam compatibility settings, try the latest Proton version. Valve’s guide says, “Try choosing the latest version of Proton.” If behavior changes, note which Proton version you selected.

How much performance can you expect?

There is no controlled benchmark or verified settings matrix establishing performance across Steam Deck LCD and OLED models. One recent community post reports ReSkate 1.0.3 on a Deck OLED with Proton Experimental, medium-low settings, and roughly 50–60 FPS, while also mentioning bugs and crashes (community report). That is one user’s observation, not a reliable target for other Decks.

Accordingly, no particular frame rate, graphics preset, wattage, or scaling mode can be presented as a verified best setting. Use lower graphics settings as a troubleshooting measure, then judge the result on your own setup.
