Before downloading, write down four values:
- Game version: for example, 1.20.1, 1.21.1 or 1.7.10.
- Loader: Forge or NeoForge, including the exact loader build requested by the listing.
- Format: a single mod jar, a launcher-importable modpack, or a server pack.

Safe installation outline
- Back up your world. Copy the save folder before changing a modded profile. Test new content in a disposable world first, because removing a content mod can leave missing blocks or entities.
- Create a separate 1.20.1 profile. In the Minecraft Launcher, open Installations, choose New installation, select Minecraft 1.20.1 and the Forge profile created by the Forge installer. Keep this profile separate from vanilla saves.
- Launch Forge once. Start the profile and reach the title screen so the
.minecraft/modsdirectory and configuration folders are created. Close the game. - Add the mod file. Put the Star Wars Expansion jar from its official listing into the
modsfolder. Do not unzip a jar or rename it. - Match the server. For multiplayer, install the same Minecraft version, Forge build and mod file on the server and every client. A client-only installation will not make a server compatible.

- You want a guided pack with quests and a defined technology-and-space progression.
- Your group is willing to use a 1.7.10 client and follow the pack’s server instructions.
- You value the stated official dedicated-server option more than running the newest Minecraft release.
It is a poor fit for a 1.20.1 or 1.21.1 world. Do not combine its files with Star Wars Expansion; they target different game versions and are separate projects.

Legacy setup checklist
- Install a launcher profile for Minecraft 1.7.10 with the Forge version required by the current Conquest listing.

Use Star Wars Expansion on Forge 1.20.1. Confirm the same file and loader on the server and clients, and add only other mods that explicitly support 1.20.1. This route minimizes the disruption to a modern Java setup.

For quests, technology and ship building
Choose Star Wars Conquest if your group accepts Minecraft 1.7.10. Its pack structure and stated dedicated-server support are more important here than its older game version.
For a 1.21.1 adventure pack

- Keep mod filenames and versions synchronized; a different build can trigger a missing-mod or mismatched-version error.
- Copy configuration files when the project requires synchronized gameplay settings.
- Back up the server world before removing or updating a content mod.
- Do not expose a test server to the internet until permissions, backups and operator access are configured.
A dedicated server mentioned in a listing is not the same as a hosted service. You still need a machine, Java runtime compatible with that legacy or modern version, storage for world saves and a way to distribute the exact pack files to players.
