There is no single best sniper rifle in PlanetSide 2: choose a long-range bolt-action for distant targets, a close-range bolt-action for short sightlines, or a semi-automatic rifle if you value a different firing rhythm. For long-range bolt-action sniping, the SR-7 is a concrete option; the community wiki lists the LA80 and V10 as statistically equivalent counterparts. The right pick depends on range, cadence and whether you accept the visibility cost of a high-magnification scope.

What the SR-7’s published stats tell you
The PlanetSide 2 Wiki reports the following SR-7 values: 600 m/s muzzle velocity, 43 rounds per minute, 1.395 seconds of chamber time, and an eight-round magazine. It lists 650 maximum damage before 10 m and 400 minimum damage after 350 m. These are community-maintained wiki figures, not independently verified current official stats; check the in-game weapon information for the live values.

Its firing cadence is slower than a semi-automatic pattern, and distance alone does not determine whether a rifle suits the sightlines and pace of a fight. Why 6x scopes can give away your position
Daybreak’s November 4, 2025 PC update added scope glint for optics with 6x zoom or higher. The glint appears while aiming down sights, so a high-magnification optic can help acquire distant targets but also give opponents a visual cue to your position. That changes the long-range trade-off: reach is useful, but staying hidden is no longer guaranteed simply because you are far away.
The update described the purpose as “A new scope glint mechanic has been added to provide counterplay against long-range, hidden snipers.” Read the official November 4, 2025 PC update for the stated mechanic and context.

Choosing between bolt-action and semi-automatic rifles
Choose bolt-action when you prioritize deliberate shots
Bolt-actions suit a slower, more deliberate firing rhythm. Within that family, the practical choice is largely about sightline: the SR-7, LA80 and V10 are the long-range group, while the TSAR-42, Ghost and SAS-R are the close-range group. A close-range model is not a substitute for a long-range rifle if your usual targets are far away.
Consider semi-automatic when cadence matters more
Semi-automatic sniper rifles form a separate category and support a faster firing pattern than bolt-actions. That can suit players who prefer to take follow-up shots without the same chambering rhythm. Their range and current numerical comparisons are not established in the cited material, so choose by your preferred cadence and confirm the rifle’s live details in game.

Remember the Infiltrator’s wider role
The Infiltrator is associated not only with stealth and headshots but also with disruption and hacking, according to Daybreak’s PlanetSide 2 FAQ. Rifle choice is one part of playing the class: think about how a firing position and shot timing fit the class’s broader stealth and disruption role, rather than treating the Infiltrator as only a long-range sniper.

Weapon advice is patch-sensitive. Daybreak’s March 30, 2022 Arsenal Update notes include sniper-rifle balance changes. Combined with the November 2025 Infiltrator update, that history is a reason to verify present-day weapon details before relying on older guides or community-maintained numbers.
