Best Smart Tea Kettles for Modern Tea Lovers: A Guide to Smart Brewing

A practical guide to smart tea kettles: distinguish Wi‑Fi features from precision controls, compare leading models, and choose the right capacity, spout and infuser for your tea routine.
Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The best “smart” tea kettle depends on what you mean by smart. Connected models such as the GoveeLife Smart Electric Kettle Pro add app scheduling and voice control, while precision kettles such as the OXO Brew Adjustable Temperature Kettle provide accurate selection and keep-warm functions without Wi‑Fi. Tea makers add a third category by controlling steep time as well as water temperature.

For most tea drinkers, temperature control, capacity, cleaning and repeatability affect the cup more than connectivity. Choose a genuinely connected kettle when remote routines matter; otherwise, a well-designed temperature-controlled model is usually simpler and just as effective.

What makes a tea kettle “smart”?

Connected smart kettles

A true smart-home kettle uses Wi‑Fi or Bluetooth for an app, and sometimes Alexa or Google Assistant. Depending on the model, you may schedule heating, change a target temperature remotely, receive notifications or install firmware updates. Connectivity is a convenience layer; it does not by itself prove better temperature accuracy.

#1 Best Overall
Govee Smart Electric Kettle, WiFi Variable Temperature Gooseneck Tea Kettle
  • Smart Voice & App Control: Govee electric kettle supports Bluetooth or WiFi connection, which is more stable and faster than kettles that can only be connected through Bluetooth, as the control range is not limited by distance. You can Schedule a time to boil your water.
  • 4 Easy Presets & Keep-Warm Control: Govee smart kettle allows you to brew coffee and tea like a pro, with an app that lets you set your precise desired temperature from 104 °F to 212 °F. In addition, the Keep-Warm function automatically maintains water temperature for a full 2 hours. Make Electric Gooseneck Kettle your optimal brewing partner.
  • Rapid Boil: 1200w quickly heats 0.8L water in only 3-5 minutes to help you enjoy a cup of coffee in no time. This electric kettle features a ready tone that beeps three times when the water reaches the preset temp, which you can turn off on the app.
  • Precision Pour: The long gooseneck spout design has a powerful but precise stream for an optimal pour overflow rate. The pour over kettle's balanced body build and counterbalanced handle provide a sturdy grip, encouraging a slower pour.
  • Built for Taste and Safety:Made of 304 food-grade stainless steel, Govee electric tea kettle comes with an NTC temperature sensor that automatically shuts off when the water reaches the desired temperature. The electric kettle with Boil Dry Protection will automatically shut off when the water dries out.

Smart-function kettles

Many excellent kettles are offline. Preset temperatures, one-touch memory, automatic shutoff, boil-dry protection and keep-warm modes are programmable functions, not internet connectivity. Calling these appliances “smart” is reasonable only when the label makes that distinction clear.

Tea makers

A tea maker controls both water and leaves. An integrated basket, steep timer and automatic keep-warm cycle can replace a separate teapot, but cleaning and leaf expansion deserve attention.

Does app control matter for tea?

It can start a repeatable morning routine, schedule water before you enter the kitchen, change a target temperature while your hands are occupied and maintain heat between infusions. Voice control is useful when Alexa or Google Assistant is already part of your home.

Remote operation still requires you to fill the kettle manually, and safety logic may restrict when heating can begin. Router compatibility, permissions, app changes and discontinued cloud support can also undermine the feature. Confirm that physical controls continue to work if the app is unavailable, and never treat remote scheduling as permission to ignore the manufacturer’s unattended-use rules.

Best smart tea kettles by use case

Fellow Stagg EKG Pro: premium connected gooseneck

The Stagg EKG Pro is aimed at design-conscious tea and coffee drinkers who value a controlled stream. Its gooseneck spout, variable temperature control and Fellow ecosystem provide precise-pour hardware with connected firmware features. Independent coverage identifies configurable hold behavior and altitude adjustment as notable features; exact settings should be confirmed in the current manual.

  • 𝑭𝒂𝒔𝒕 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑺𝒂𝒇𝒆 : Boil up to 0.85 quarts of water in 3–5 minutes with 1200W power. Enjoy safety features with powerful STRIX Thermostat Technology such as auto shut-off and boil-dry protection for less stress in each brew
  • 𝑷𝒓𝒆𝒎𝒊𝒖𝒎 𝑴𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒍𝒔: The kettle’s durable interior, lid, and spout are made with food-grade 304 stainless steel and have no Teflon or chemical linings. Enjoy a longer lasting product without worrying about any plastic taste

About 0.9 L is enough for individual brewing but inconvenient for a family teapot or rapid refills. The standard Stagg EKG collection price is listed at $199.95; the live Pro configuration may differ. Fellow warns that app compatibility varies and that the app is not compatible with Stagg EKG+ kettles. This is a premium pour-over tool, not an integrated tea brewer.

See Fellow’s Stagg EKG page and the independent comparison.

GoveeLife Smart Electric Kettle Pro: connected loose-leaf and family use

Govee’s Pro combines actual app scheduling and voice support with a 1.7-liter vessel and removable infuser. The app supports Alexa and Google Assistant, and the product lists presets for coffee, green tea, oolong tea and black tea. Govee advertises 1°F accuracy and up to two hours of keep-warm time; those are manufacturer claims, not independent laboratory results.

Remove the basket when you want plain hot water, coffee or cooking water. The larger capacity suits multiple cups, but the infuser can restrict leaf expansion and adds cleaning work. The US page showed an $89.99 price alongside comparison pricing and promotions when checked on Aug. 16, 2026. It is the clearest choice for buyers who specifically want app and voice control, but not for households that prefer an offline appliance.

Breville IQ Kettle: polished tea presets without Wi‑Fi

The IQ Kettle holds 57 ounces (approximately 1.7 L), offers five presets for black, green, white and oolong tea plus French press coffee, and provides customizable one-touch operation. Its 20-minute keep-warm function, soft-opening lid, automatic shutoff and boil-dry protection make it practical for a household routine. Breville lists 1,500 watts, a one-year warranty and a $179.95 US price.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

There is no app, voice assistant or arbitrary 1-degree setting. Choose it when physical controls and tea-oriented presets matter more than remote access.

See the Breville IQ Kettle.

OXO Brew Adjustable Temperature Kettle: large and precise

OXO’s standard-spout kettle covers 104–212°F and holds the selected temperature for up to 30 minutes. Its 60-ounce (1.75-liter) capacity is useful for families, large teapots and kitchen tasks, while the standard spout pours faster and more generally than a gooseneck. The official US price is $119.99.

It is not connected and has no integrated infuser, but its broad range and simple controls meet the needs of most tea drinkers who want repeatable water without an app.

See OXO’s materials, features and current price.

OXO Brew Adjustable Temperature Pour-Over Kettle: controlled flow for less

This gooseneck model adds adjustable temperature, a controlled-pour spout and built-in timing functionality at a listed $119.99. The official page does not indicate app or voice connectivity. It is a sensible alternative to premium Fellow models for readers who make pour-over coffee or slowly wet delicate leaves.

Chefman Electric Kettle with Temperature Control, 5 Presets LED Indicator Lights, Removable Tea Infuser, Glass Tea Kettle & Hot Water Boiler, 360° Swivel Base, BPA Free, Stainless Steel, 1.8 Liters
  • FAST BOILING: Chefman kettles boil water fast. Boil your water for as little as 3 minutes for tea, hot chocolate, pour-over coffee, and other hot beverages.
  • VARIABLE HEAT SETTINGS: Custom temperature control includes seven presets with boiling temps ranging from 160-212°F for the perfect cup.
  • TRI-COLOR LED LIGHTS: Easily see when your glass teapot with infuser is in standby mode (white lights), heating mode (red lights), and in keep warm/steep mode (green lights).
  • STEEP LOOSE LEAF TEA: With the included removable tea infuser, you can steep a whole pot in our hot water kettle to serve multiple people efficiently.
  • CORDLESS CONVENIENCE: Our cord-free portable kettle for heating water allows you to serve guests in another room while leaving the base plugged in.

The gooseneck sacrifices speed and volume compared with a standard spout. Listed water-contact materials include stainless steel, nylon, silicone, aluminum, polypropylene, TPE and polycarbonate, so do not describe it as plastic-free.

See OXO’s pour-over kettle.

Breville Smart Tea Infuser: temperature plus steep control

The Smart Tea Infuser is designed to lower a basket, control steep time and keep the brew warm automatically. Its five tea-oriented temperature presets make it more specialized than a kettle that only heats water. The US product page lists $179.95 but currently marks the model out of stock, so availability is the decisive buying issue.

It suits tea specialists who want one-vessel automation, not shoppers seeking Wi‑Fi or immediate delivery.

Check Breville’s current stock status.

Tea temperature guide

Tea style Starting range Practical note
White 160–180°F (70–82°C) Lower heat can preserve delicate aromas.
Green 160–180°F (70–82°C) Boiling water can make many greens bitter.
Oolong 185–200°F (85–93°C) Heavily roasted leaves may tolerate more heat.
Black 195–212°F (90–100°C) Many robust blacks benefit from hotter water.
Herbal, rooibos and mate Usually near boiling Follow the blend’s own instructions.

These are starting points, not universal rules. Leaf grade, processing, altitude, water chemistry, vessel and taste all change the result. Breville’s published guidance uses 175°F for green and white tea, 195°F for oolong, 205°F for black and herbal tea and 212°F for boiling, while warning that the chart is a guideline and the kettle is not calibrated for scientific or commercial measurement: Breville instruction manual. Use the tea producer’s directions first.

Temperature selection is not temperature accuracy

  • Selection resolution: how finely you can choose a target, such as 1-degree increments versus presets.
  • Accuracy: how close the water is to the displayed value. Govee’s 1°F figure is an advertised claim.
  • Stability: how well the kettle maintains the target.
  • Uniformity: whether water throughout the vessel is at a similar temperature.
  • Repeatability: whether successive brews behave similarly.

Breville says displayed temperatures may vary by approximately ±3°C and are not laboratory measurements. Pouring, opening the lid, transferring water and altitude also change the temperature reaching the leaves. A high-resolution display should therefore be treated as a control aid, not proof of scientific accuracy.

  • Customized Brewing Program: 4 preset temperature from 180 °F to 212 °F for green tea, oolong tea, coffee and black tea. Temperature accuracy of 1°F makes this product ideal for beginners and professionals.
  • Digital Screen Display: The base has an LED screen to view target and real-time temperatures. 1500 W power heats 1.7 L water in 8 minutes and insulates for up to 2 hours. Convenient app control to adjust insulation time.
  • Prioritizes Safety: Made of BPA-free food-grade 304 stainless steel for safety and durability. Auto shut-off and boil-dry protection. To prevent scaling and corrosion, wash regularly and empty after each use.

Gooseneck or standard spout?

Choose a gooseneck when… Choose a standard spout when…
You need a slow, controlled stream for pour-over or delicate wetting. You fill large teapots, mugs or cooking vessels quickly.
You value flow control over maximum capacity. You want one kettle for tea, coffee, instant food and general hot water.
A smaller vessel is acceptable. Family-size volume and one-handed convenience matter more.

Fellow’s Pro is approximately 0.9 L, while OXO’s standard adjustable model is 1.75 L. Controlled pouring is useful, but it does not automatically improve ordinary tea preparation.

Integrated infuser or separate teapot?

An integrated basket reduces accessories and can automate steep timing. Govee’s removable infuser lets the same kettle heat plain water, and Breville’s Smart Tea Infuser is built around temperature-plus-steep control. The trade-offs are a potentially small basket, harder cleaning, particles escaping through coarse mesh and leaves continuing to extract unless removed promptly.

A separate infuser or teapot is easier to clean, gives leaves more room, supports multiple infusions and lets you serve from another vessel. It is the better choice when versatility matters more than one-touch convenience.

Capacity, materials and maintenance

Match capacity to the household

  • 0.6–0.9 L: one person, pour-over or a small pot.
  • 1.0–1.2 L: couples and moderate daily use.
  • 1.5–1.7 L: families, multiple cups and cooking tasks.

Use the maximum fill line, not only the marketing volume, and check the minimum line. A large kettle wastes energy when heating one cup, while an infuser may require more water to cover the basket.

Water-contact surfaces

Stainless steel hides scale and is durable; glass makes deposits visible but needs careful handling. Do not call a model plastic-free unless every water-contact component is documented. OXO lists borosilicate glass, silicone and stainless steel for its standard adjustable kettle, while its pour-over model lists additional polypropylene and polycarbonate among several materials.

Hard-water care

Mineral scale can slow heating, shed flakes, affect sensors and change taste. Follow the model’s manual for approved descaler and interval. Emptying leftover water, rinsing the basket and drying the base reduce residue, but do not immerse the electrical base.

Safety and electrical requirements

  • Respect minimum and maximum fill lines; never run below the level needed to cover the heating element.
  • Keep steam, the hot body, lid and spout away from children and pets.
  • Keep the base and contacts dry and place the cord where it cannot be pulled.
  • Automatic shutoff and boil-dry protection help, but do not make remote heating risk-free.
  • Check voltage before importing a model. Breville’s IQ Kettle specifications indicate 110–120V operation.
  • Follow the manual before lifting the kettle during a heating cycle or enabling scheduled operation.

Features worth paying for—and those that may not be

Usually worthwhile

  • Temperature presets or a broad manual range matched to your teas.
  • A keep-warm period suited to your routine rather than the longest advertised time.
  • A removable, adequately sized infuser if you brew directly in the vessel.
  • Scheduling or voice control when you genuinely repeat those routines.
  • Reliable physical controls that remain useful without an app.

Often unnecessary

  • Wi‑Fi for a kettle used once a day from beside the sink.
  • A 1.7-liter vessel for a single mug, with the extra heating and cleaning burden.
  • A gooseneck spout when you never make pour-over coffee or slow-pour tea.
  • Decorative materials that complicate descaling without improving brewing.

How to get better tea from any temperature-controlled kettle

  1. Start with the tea producer’s temperature and steep-time recommendation.
  2. Use fresh water suited to your local hardness; filtered water can reduce off-tastes and scale, but follow the kettle’s maintenance instructions.
  3. Heat only the amount you need while staying above the minimum fill line.
  4. Preheat the cup or teapot when the recipe benefits from it.
  5. Measure steep time separately unless the appliance controls it.
  6. Remove leaves at the intended time to prevent over-extraction.
  7. Adjust temperature and steep time together when the first cup tastes weak, bitter or flat.
  8. Descale at the interval specified for your water and model.

Decision guide

  • Need Wi‑Fi or voice control? Choose Govee for 1.7-liter capacity and an infuser, or Fellow for premium controlled pouring and a smaller vessel.
  • Want the best controlled pour? Choose Fellow for connected premium design or OXO’s gooseneck for a lower listed price.
  • Want a large tea kettle without an app? Choose Breville IQ for presets or OXO standard for a wider manual range.
  • Want automatic steeping? Consider Breville Smart Tea Infuser, but verify stock before ordering.
  • Want simplicity? Buy a dependable temperature-control kettle and skip connectivity you will not use.

The Bottom Line

For connected loose-leaf brewing, the GoveeLife Smart Electric Kettle Pro offers the broadest feature mix. Fellow’s Stagg EKG Pro is the specialist choice for controlled pouring. Breville IQ and OXO’s standard kettle are stronger fits for large households that want reliable tea temperatures without an app, while Breville’s Smart Tea Infuser is compelling only when it is available.
