Solos AirGo V2 is another camera-equipped option, but the inspected version was listed as unavailable. If you want glasses for films or gaming rather than first-person capture, XREAL Air 2 offers a wearable display—but it has no camera for recording the world. The right choice depends on whether you want camera-and-AI glasses, a screen, or camera-free audio.
What Meta Glasses Nova does—and what an alternative needs to match
Target’s US listing for the Meta Glasses, Nova Small AI Glasses described hands-free photo and video capture, Meta AI, open-ear speakers, calling and a privacy indicator light. Its listed specifications included a 12 MP camera, 3K video, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and a weight of 49 g. Target listed this Small configuration at $329.99 when accessed; price and stock can change, and its fit details should not be generalized to other Nova variants.

Meta’s launch announcement describes a line developed with EssilorLuxottica and three initial styles. Meta said the glasses offered more than eight hours of battery life and that Muse Spark powered Meta AI on the glasses in the US and Canada at launch. Meta updated its market-availability statement in July 2026, so check its announcement for current regional availability rather than assuming the same AI features are available everywhere.
That mix makes Nova a camera-and-AI product, not just a pair of Bluetooth glasses. Before comparing models, decide whether you need a world-facing camera, a display in your field of view, or audio without a camera; these are different product categories.

Best camera-and-AI alternatives to Nova
Rokid AI Glasses Style: closest documented non-Meta match
Rokid’s AI Glasses Style has the strongest documented overlap with Nova for someone who wants camera capture, AI and open-ear audio without choosing Meta. Rokid lists a 12 MP Sony camera, video up to 3K at 30 fps, open-ear speakers and AI responses through audio and its companion app. The company also lists a recording indicator and a 38.5 g frame weight before prescription lenses.
The key constraint is recording length: Rokid says each clip can be up to 10 minutes. The glasses require a companion app and a supported phone—Android 12 or later, or iOS 16 or later, according to the manufacturer. Rokid lists prescription options from -15.00D to +15.00D, subject to regional and prescription availability. Confirm that your prescription and location are supported before buying. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent test results.

Ray-Ban Meta Audio: camera-free, but still part of Meta
Meta and EssilorLuxottica introduced Ray-Ban Meta Audio in a September 2026 Connect announcement as a camera-free line with open-ear audio. It may suit someone seeking audio assistance or music without a camera, but it is still a Meta product and therefore does not meet the goal of leaving Meta’s ecosystem. The announcement’s launch timing and feature availability may vary by date and geography.

What to check before choosing
- Camera use: If you need hands-free photos or video, prioritize Rokid or Solos among the non-Meta options here. XREAL Air 2 has no real-world capture camera.
- Recording limits and privacy: Check video resolution, maximum clip length, recording-indicator behavior and how the companion app manages captured media. An indicator is a product feature, not a guarantee that every privacy concern is resolved.
- Audio versus display: Open-ear speakers support listening while remaining aware of surroundings; display glasses serve a different purpose, such as viewing a large virtual screen.
- Fit and prescription: Compare frame weight and configuration, not just the broad product category. Nova’s 49 g figure is for Target’s Small listing, while Rokid’s 38.5 g figure excludes prescription lenses. XREAL describes a detachable prescription-lens frame; availability and suitability depend on your needs.
- Phone, region and stock: Verify the required operating system, app, regional AI support, current price and availability on the manufacturer or retailer page before ordering.
Which alternative should you choose?
- Choose Rokid AI Glasses Style if your priority is the closest documented non-Meta combination of camera, AI and open-ear audio, and a 10-minute recording limit works for you.
- Consider Solos AirGo V2 if its camera and AI features suit you, but verify that your preferred variant is available before planning a purchase.
- Choose XREAL Air 2 if you want a wearable screen for gaming or media and do not need real-world photo or video capture.
- Consider Ray-Ban Meta Audio if camera-free audio is the goal and staying within Meta’s product family is acceptable.
Meta and EssilorLuxottica said in September 2026 that they expected to offer more than 100 styles of AI glasses by the end of 2026. That is the companies’ forecast, not an independently verified count of products available for sale.
